Bills | Dri Archer doesn't count towards roster Wed May 18, 03:35 PM
Buffalo Bills RB Dri Archer was placed on the Reserve/Did Not Report list Wednesday, May 18. He is now technically not part of the 90-man roster.
Footballguys view: Dri Archer is a track star with limited football skills and might have struggled to make the roster anyway. We're unsure why he didn't report (or really, why he ended up on the list) and so we are unclear as to what his future with the Bills or the NFL is. |

Bills | Dri Archer claimed Tue May 10, 07:12 PM
Free-agent WR Dri Archer (Jets) was claimed off waivers by the Buffalo Bills Tuesday, May 10.
Footballguys view: Archer will have a difficult time cracking the Bills roster as they are stacked at the RB position. Even as a slot WR or return man, we don't see how Archer makes the 53-man roster. |

Jets | Sign Dri Archer Wed Feb 3, 04:26 PM
Former Pittsburgh Steelers RB Dri Archer signed a Reserve/Futures contract with the New York Jets Wednesday, Feb. 3.
Footballguys view: Archer, a third-round pick of the Steelers in 2014, spent about half of the 2015 season out of the league. Lacking the size to be anything more than a change-of-pace back, Archer can contribute as a return man if needed. |

Steelers | Dri Archer released Thu Nov 5, 05:13 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers RB Dri Archer was released Thursday, Nov. 5.
Footballguys view: Archer just wasn't getting it done and that he was released after Le'Veon Bell went down speaks volumes as to how badly he was off. This leaves DeAngelo Williams' backups as Jordan Todman and Isaiah Pead. Williams is a solid RB2 against the Oakland Raiders but the others aren't worth rostering. |

Steelers | Dri Archer stands out Mon Aug 10, 08:34 AM
Pittsburgh Steelers RB Dri Archer received a long look in the preseason game Sunday, Aug. 9, and he made several big plays. Archer converted a third-and-14 with a 15-yard run and caught a 14-yard pass on third-and-10. He finished with four rushes for 24 yards and a team-high six catches for 33 yards.

Steelers | Dri Archer likely to return kicks Sun Jun 7, 11:01 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers RB Dri Archer is in line to return kicks in 2015 after being stripped of the duty at the end of last season.
Footballguys view: We'll see if Archer can make a larger difference this year. We're not expecting him to do much as a runner or receiver for the Steelers. However, he could be a decent return man if he uses his speed and quickness properly in 2015. |

Steelers | Dri Archer will have role in offense Thu Mar 19, 01:08 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers RB Dri Archer will have a role on offense that will take advantage of his speed, but people have to be patient with his development, according to offensive coordinator Todd Haley. Archer could also be used as a kick returner next season.
Footballguys view: Archer is a very versatile back, but because of his size, that versatility will almost always have to do with speedy routes and screens and never much between the tackles. Assume LeVeon Bell returns to 100 percent, Archer will still be very limited and have inconsistent fantasy value. |

Steelers | Dri Archer eager to show off Fri Sep 5, 08:06 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers RB Dri Archer has already developed a reputation as being a jack-of-all-trades throughout the organization. The rookie is eager to show what he can do in his regular season debut in Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns. 'The more you can do, the more chance you'll be on the field,' Archer this week. 'That's what I bring to the table is a lot of versatility.'

Steelers | Dri Archer shows offs explosiveness Sat Aug 9, 11:51 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers RB Dri Archer took a short pass on a bubble screen and turned it into a 46-yard gain during the team's preseason game Saturday, Aug. 9.
Footballguys view: Archer is a player in the mold of Dexter McCluster (Titans). He's not really a running back (even though he's listed as a RB), but he's not really a receiver either. It's good to see the Steelers show more explosiveness in their no-huddle offense. According to Brown, the no-huddle offense is here to stay with the Steelers. |

Steelers | Dri Archer lining up everywhere Tue Jul 29, 12:54 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers RB Dri Archer has been lining up at both running back and wide receiver in practice. Archer said he could line up anywhere on the offense except at quarterback.
Footballguys view: Archer is going to be Todd Haley's version of Dexter McCluster (Titans). Haley worked to involve McCluster when he was OC with the Chiefs. Archer may have a few exciting plays for the Steelers this year, but his fantasy value is very low. |

Steelers | Dri Archer to be used at multiple positions Fri Jul 11, 08:54 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers RB Dri Archer will receive playing time at running back and wide receiver this upcoming season, according to head coach Mike Tomlin.
Footballguys view: Archer is listed as a running back, but he's built more like a small slot receiver. He's fast in a straight line, but Archer is never going to run through an arm tackle. The Steelers could use him in multiple ways, but he's unlikely to be much of a fantasy factor in 2014. |

Steelers | Preseason to determine RB rotation Fri Jul 11, 08:42 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said training camp and preseason games will determine how the team uses RBs Le'Veon Bell, LeGarrette Blount and Dri Archer in the running game.
Footballguys view: We're likely to see Bell as the primary back. He can hammer the rock between the tackles, plus he's a fantastic receiver out of the backfield. Blount will be a short-yardage and goal line option for the team. Archer is more like a slot receiver than he is a running back. We're not that confident in Todd Haley to be creative enough to use him effectively. |

Steelers | May go with three RBs on roster Fri Jul 4, 07:35 PM
The Pittsburgh Steelers may consider keeping on RBs Le'Veon Bell, LeGarrette Blount and Dri Archer on their final roster and having one running back on their practice squad.
Footballguys view: We'd like to see Tauren Poole make the final roster or the practice squad. He's a talented runner who is capable between the tackles, and he has the burst to hit the corner when he gets to the second level. He'll compete with all-purpose back Alvester Alexander and MJD-clone (poor man's version) Miguel Maysonet for the fourth spot on the depth chart. |

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell could see 300 carries Mon Jun 30, 08:45 AM
Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell will likely see 300 carries this season, but not much more than that as the team will use RBs LeGarrette Blount and Dri Archer to spell him and keep him fresh.
Footballguys view: Bell is a RB2 with RB1 upside this season. The size of his workload and ability to catch 50 or more passes out of the backfield make Bell a valuable asset for fantasy owners. With a healthier and improved offensive line we could see Bell flourish for the Steelers in 2014. His current ADP is RB11 (2.07) in 12-team PPR leagues. |

Steelers | Dri Archer unsure about role Sun Jun 29, 08:43 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers RB Dri Archer said he is not sure what his role will be this upcoming season but does expect to make an impact. 'It's going to be a big role, but I'm just going to do whatever I'm asked to do. Play receiver, play running back, helping special teams. Whatever they want me to do, I'm going to do it,' Archer said.
Footballguys view: Archer is a player without a position or well-defined role. He's listed as a running back, but he plays more like a wide receiver. We're supposed to believe that OC Toddy Haley is going to be creative enough to use Archer in the correct way. That's difficult to anticipate given Haley's track record and his boring/predictable offense. |

Steelers | Dri Archer sees time with WRs Thu Jun 12, 08:24 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers RB Dri Archer worked with the wide receivers during organized team activities Thursday, June 12, for the first time since he was drafted.
Footballguys view: He's not really a running back. There may be "RB" next to his name, but Archer is really a wide receiver or "OW" (offensive weapon). We're curious to see if OC Todd Haley has enough creativity to use Archer effectively in 2014. |

Steelers | Sign Dri Archer Thu Jun 12, 05:37 PM
The Pittsburgh Steelers signed third-round selection WR Dri Archer. Per NFL policy, all drafted rookies sign four-year deals.
Footballguys view: When not handling spy business for ISIS or harassing Lana with "Danger Zone" comments, Archer is a guy who will spend his time on special teams with occasional special offensive packages. He little to no fantasy value. |

Steelers | Dri Archer finding his role in the offense Thu Jun 5, 09:17 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers RB Dri Archer will be utilized in a variety of ways on offense this year, according to running backs coach James Saxon.
Footballguys view: Archer doesn't have the size to carry the rock full time, but his athletic ability makes him highly valuable anyway. You just have to find ways to unleash it. He's going to be fun to watch but if you want to enjoy the view don't draft him as a fantasy player on your team--he'll just make you sad as he will be too inconsistent to be anywhere but your bench. |

Steelers | Dri Archer should be back Tuesday Mon Jun 2, 10:56 PM
Pittsburgh Steelers RB Dri Archer skipped practices last week in order to attend the NFL Players Association Rookie Premier. He is expected to be ready to go when organized team activities (OTAs) resume Tuesday, June 3.
Footballguys view: Archer is listed as a running back, but he's more of an "OW" or offensive weapon. He's small and should not be relied on to bang it between the tackles. He's super fast and dynamic after the catch. Archer will serve mostly as a change-of-pace receiver out of the backfield for the Steelers. We'd feel more confident in his playmaking ability if OC Todd Haley was more creative. Think of Archer the same way you thought of a younger Dexter McCluster or Denard Robinson. He's essentially a player without a clearly defined position. |

Steelers | Dri Archer to see time at RB, WR Sat May 10, 12:12 PM
The Pittsburgh Steelers plan to use RB Dri Archer at running back and wide receiver this upcoming season. He will be used as a kick returner, and the team will work on him becoming a punt returner.
Footballguys view: Archer could be what Dexter McCluster always had the potential to be, but his build and size could limit his impact and he's going to be super risky in dynasty fantasy drafts. Stay away from him in redraft. |

Lions | Dri Archer visits Mon Apr 28, 04:40 PM
The Detroit Lions met with Kent State RB Dri Archer Friday, April 25.
Footballguys view: Archer is listed as a running back, but he should actually be an "OW" for offensive weapon. At 175 pounds, he's too small to take a beating between the tackles. However, in space he can really excel. His 4.24 40-yard dash at the Scouting Combine showed how Archer can be a blur in the open field. |

Dolphins | Scheduled to meet with Dri Archer Thu Mar 20, 04:05 PM
The Miami Dolphins are scheduled to meet with Kent State RB Dri Archer Monday, March 24.
Footballguys view: The Dolphins have to regret letting Reggie Bush go, but Archer isn't going to replace him between the tackles. He would give the Dolphins a dynamic player in the Dexter McCLuster/Darren Sproles style by splitting out wide and catching a lot of screens. |
Dri Archer player page
Raiders | Scheduled to meet with Dri Archer Thu Mar 20, 04:04 PM
The Oakland Raiders are scheduled to meet with Kent State RB Dri Archer Friday, March 21.
Footballguys view: If Al Davis was alive we'd say "of course he is" and move on. Archer isn't going to be able to hack it as a full time running back at the NFL level but his speed and hands make him an interesting RB/WR in the vein of Dexter McCluster. |
