Titans | Jerheme Urban looks good Tue Jul 24, 11:42 PM
Free-agent WR Jerheme Urban (Chiefs) reportedly had a good workout with the Tennessee Titans Tuesday, July 24, although it is uncertain if he will be offered a contract.
Footballguys view: If signed Urban could compete for the WR4 spot on the team behind Kenny Britt, Nate Washington, and rookie Kendall Wright. |

Cowboys | Two WRs could be options in free agency Wed May 9, 12:18 PM
The Dallas Cowboys could show interest in free-agent WRs Patrick Crayton (Chargers) and Jerheme Urban (Chiefs) if they decide to add a wide receiver in free agency.
Footballguys view: The Cowboys hope the third-string WR is currently on the roster. Guys like Kevin Ogletree, Danny Coale, and Dwayne Harris will compete for that spot in training camp. The Cowboys could look outside the roster if they want better veteran depth. |

Chiefs | Matt Cassel organizing workouts Thu May 5, 01:06 PM
Kansas City Chiefs QB Matt Cassel has organized workouts this week with some of the team's wide receivers and tight ends. WRs Dwayne Bowe and Jerheme Urban and TE Brad Cottam have joined Cassel for the workouts. Cassel said he has called QB Ricky Stanzi and WR Jonathan Baldwin about joining the workouts.
Footballguys view: It's nice to see Cassel reaching out to the Chiefs rookies to see if they want to join in. The team got a taste of the postseason last year and don't want to regress in 2011. |

Chiefs | Dwayne Bowe and Chris Chambers at top of receiver pecking order Thu Aug 12, 03:03 AM
Kansas City Chiefs WRs Dwayne Bowe and Chris Chambers are the team's top two receivers in the starting lineup, reports Adam Teicher, of The Kansas City Star. WRs Dexter McCluster and Jerheme Urban are seeing time when the team uses multiple receiver sets, while WR Terrance Copper appears likely to make the team due to his work on special teams.
Footballguys view: This is not a surprise. Don't let it scare you away from McCluster as a late-round flier, he should still get touches as a tailback and wildcat QB, in addition to his work as a slot receiver. |

Chiefs | Urban hopes to stick with team Sun Jun 13, 04:08 PM
The Kansas City Star reports that Chiefs WR Jerheme Urban is hoping to stick with Kansas City this year and make an impact in 2010. Urban, 29, is on his fourth team in seven-plus seasons. "I'm not getting any younger," said Urban, who caught 74 passes the last three seasons with Arizona. "I'm ready to make a step, career-wise." Urban will have to beat out Dwayne Bowe, Chris Chambers and rookie Dexter McCluster for playing time, but coach Todd Haley, who worked with Urban with the Cardinals, is fond of him. "I'm scratching and clawing every single day out there because they're always bringing in younger guys, always drafting guys to take your spot," he said. "I never feel like I'm safe. I have to go out there every single day and make the most of it."
Footballguys view: Urban is a hard worker, and the veteran should be able to stick around in KC to give them quality depth at wide receiver. |

Chiefs | Jerheme Urban, Dexter McCluster could be used as No. 3 WR Sat May 15, 05:48 PM
The Kansas City Chiefs could use WR Jerheme Urban and WR Dexter McCluster as their No. 3 receiver at different times because each have a different skill set, reports Josh Looney, of KCChiefs.com.
Footballguys view: Urban has experience working with head coach Todd Haley from their days together in Arizona, but he's not the type of playmaker that Dexter McCluster is. At Ole Miss McCluster was a versatile weapon who was very effective as a runner and a receiver. Even though he's not the biggest player on the field McCluster runs with a "never say die" attitude and is not afraid to run through arm tackles. He should be a great slot receiver for the Chiefs and could be their version of Wes Welker. |

Cardinals | Doucet overtakes Urban for No. 4 WR job Sun Nov 15, 11:13 PM
Mike Sando, of ESPN.com, reports Arizona Cardinals WR Early Doucet has moved past WR Jerheme Urban to become the team's No. 4 wide receiver. Urban did not get on the field Week 10, not even on special teams.
Footballguys view: Doucet has a ton of potential, but has yet to realize it fully. When coming out of LSU, some in the scouting community compared his skill set to Reggie Wayne. He has a bright future if he can stay healthy because Anquan Boldin is likely to be dealt in the offseason. This would catapult Doucet into the third wide receiver role where he could put up similar numbers to Steve Breaston. |

Cardinals | Increased role for Breaston? Sat Sep 12, 08:19 PM
CBSSports.com reports if Anquan Boldin can play his usual amount, Steve Breaston, the third receiver, would return punts and possibly kicks. But if Boldin is limited or can't play, that means Breaston will take more snaps on offense. If that happens, Antrel Rolle could return punts, and LaRod Stephens-Howling could return kicks. Breaston (knee) is listed as probable for Week 1 vs. San Francisco.
Footballguys view: Breaston has been coming back from a knee injury, and we could see more of Jerehme Urban if both Boldin and Breaston are not at full strength. |

CBSSports.com reports Arizona Cardinals WR Jerheme Urban had six receptions and 103 yards in the team's preseason game Friday, Aug. 28.
Footballguys view: Urban is far from a household name, but if Steve Breaston's knee continues to be a problem into the regular season, he could put up numbers that make him rosterable in most leagues. |

Cardinals | Doucet will have hard time getting on the field Fri Jul 24, 07:15 PM
Kent Somers, of the Arizona Republic, reports that second-year WR Early Doucet will have trouble getting active on gamedays because one on the five receiver spots is reserved for special teams ace Sean Morey, and the #4 receiver, Jerheme Urban, has proven he can contribute on special teams, while Doucet hasn't.
Footballguys view: Doucet showed a lot of promise at LSU before he started having nagging injuries in his senior season. Because of his situation, he might become the type of WR that everyone assumes is a bust because he can't on the field, when really it's more of a "wait your turn" situation. Doucet did get praise from the coaching staff, and he cross-trained at all of the WR positions last year, so if an opportunity arises, it sounds like he'll be ready to seize it. |
