Week 7: at Green Bay Packers
All WR vs GB
FBG says: Good matchup. Drew Brees had a relatively relaxed game, as this was a rare week in which he could actually lean on his rushing attack. Brees finished with only 186 passing yards, less than the team's total rushing yards (193). He threw for two touchdowns and two interceptions, one of which was a pick-six late in the game to spark the Lions rally. The story of this passing offense was the fact that the Saints amassed 52 points with Michael Thomas only hauling in three of six targets for 11 yards. Thomas was absolutely smothered by Darius Slay for this entire game, so chalk that one up to a horrible matchup as he had averaged around 88 yards per game in his three previous outings. Ted Ginn caught his second touchdown of the season last week as he reached a new season-high 66 yards, while Willie Snead had a very quiet return to action with only one reception for 11 yards while playing only 30% of the snaps.
The Packers secondary has struggled with injuries as of late, with three defensive backs all missing in action last week. Their injury situation did not improve as backup cornerback Quinten Rollins also went down and is now out for the season with an Achilles injury. Cornerbacks Kevin King and Davon House remain questionable to return this week, while safety Morgan Burnett's status with a hamstring injury is also up in the air. The Packers had been decent against this pass this season, but their sub-par pass rush failed to get a single sack last week as they now have amassed only three sacks in their last three games (11 total on the season). Even in a matchup at home, it will be tough for the Packers to hold off the Saints passing offense with this many injuries in their secondary.
