| Footballguys view: Back in March of this year, the Cowboys re-signed Thompson to a one-year, $720,000 contract. He was a special teams player for them in 2018 and can at least fill that role. We'll see if Thompson can stay healthy and earn more playing time on defense in 2019. |

The team also released LB Mark Herzlich, CB Leonard Johnson, CB Chris Lewis-Harris and OG Chris Scott, waived/injured S Darian Thompson (hamstring) and LB Jordan C. Williams (hip, shoulder) and placed OT Nick Becton (ankle, wrist) and OL Nick Gates (foot) were placed on the Reserve/Injured list. DT R.J. McIntosh (illness) was placed on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list, while DE Josh Mauro was placed on the Reserve/Suspended list.

New York Giants FS Darian Thompson (foot) has been more involved in workouts as the offseason has gone on. He moved well during practice Friday, June 2, and showed flashes of ability.
| Footballguys view: A third-round pick out of Boise State in 2016, Thompson made it through two games before a Lisfranc injury that required surgery ended his rookie year. Thompson has a nose for the ball and can snare passes when tested. Having him back healthy only makes a strong secondary that much stronger. |
