Week 11: vs Jacksonville Jaguars

All RB vs JAX

FBG says: Neutral matchup. The Colts offense simply could not overcome poor play from their quarterback as Marlon Mack and the rest of the Colts rushers put forth a mediocre outing against one of the league's worst rushing defenses (Miami) last week. Mack rushed 19 times for 74 yards with no scores, while Jordan Wilkins, Nyhiem Hines, and Jonathan Williams all contributed with 2-3 carries each. Mack remains the clear top dog in this backfield as he continues to see a very high workload--rushing at least 18 times in five straight games now. Both Hines and Wilkins continue to see snaps that could otherwise belong to Mack, which will limit his upside. However, Wilkins did get banged up in last week's game and could be questionable coming into this Sunday. Another thing to watch for is Mack's overall productivity--as he is averaging just 3.7 yards per rush attempt over the last four games despite facing eight or more defenders in the box on fewer than 10 percent of snaps over that span of games. The Colts offensive line should be no reason for a lack of productivity, however, as they remain a top-5 unit according to Matt Bitonti of Footballguys. The Jacksonville defense has been wildly inconsistent against the run in recent weeks. This unit gave up 256 rushing yards and three touchdowns to Panthers running backs in Week 5, allowed a combined 36 rushing yards and no touchdowns to Jets and Bengals running backs in Weeks 7 and 8, and gave up 173 yards on the ground plus a touchdown to Texans running backs in Week 9 before their bye last week. Quality of opponent certainly plays a part in this success and lack thereof, as Christian McCaffrey certainly has a leg up over the backfields in New York and Cincinnati. However, this group also did a solid job limiting what has been an impressive Saints backfield to a mediocre showing in Week 6. Calais Campbell continues to have a spectacular season as one of the top run-stoppers in the league and should truly challenge the weaker right side of this Colts offensive line. Second-year pro Taven Bryan has also looked good on the interior of this line as he has earned more playing time in relief of the injured Marcell Dareus. Injuries and inconsistency continue to plague this linebacker group though, as they are really the pain point for this run defense. Myles Jack has been the only consistently healthy player in this group, but his play against the run has left much to be desired. Overall, the Colts offensive line should get the nod here as one of the top units in the league while Marlon Mack has some upside against this weaker run-defending second level of the Jaguars defense.
