Cardinals | Chansi Stuckey added    Fri Jul 29, 06:37 PM

The Arizona Cardinals have signed free-agent Chansi Stuckey (Browns) to a two-year deal worth $3.5 million.

Footballguys view: The Cardinals need to add more guys at the WR position after losing Steve Breaston to the Chiefs. We're not expecting much from Stuckey fantasy wise but he gives them valuable veteran depth.

Cleveland Browns WRs Bobby Engram and Chansi Stuckey will probably compete for the team's slot receiver position during training camp, reports Nate Ulrich, of The Akron Beacon Journal.

Browns | Cribbs pushing for T.O.    Fri May 14, 06:56 PM

Steve Doerschuk, from CantonRep.com, reports Head Coach Eric Mangini said the Browns will consider adding a veteran wide receiver if he is "the right fit." It's debatable whether Mangini's wildest dreams include Terrell Owens in an orange helmet, but a Browns captain put in a plug for the aging superstar Thursday. During a live chat on NFL.com, Josh Cribbs was asked where he thinks Owens, an unrestricted free agent, will land in 2010. "Hopefully in Cleveland," Cribbs replied. "I think he's got a little bit left in the tank. He'll eventually be with a team in training camp. T.O. is going to go to a team once they figure out what these rookies are made of."

Footballguys view: The Browns have no proven wide receivers on the roster to start opposite Josh Cribbs. Mohamed Massoquoi, Chansi Stuckey, and Brian Robiskie are unlikely to hold off a veteran like Terrell Owens if he signs with Cleveland. Owens showed flashes of the old T.O. in Buffalo last year, but struggled to stay motivated throughout the entire season.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Cleveland Browns acquired WR Chansi Stuckey, LB Jason Trusnik and two draft picks from the New York Jets for WR Braylon Edwards.

Jets | Sanchez throws TD pass in debut    Sun Sep 13, 05:50 PM

The Associated Press reports New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez was 18-for-31 for 272 yards with a touchdown pass and an interception during the team's Week 1 game. Sanchez threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to WR Chansi Stuckey in the second quarter, the first touchdown pass of his career.

Footballguys view: Sanchez had a fantastic debut, spreading the ball around, and making a big throw to Dustin Keller in the second half right when the Texans fans were exalting their team to get back in the game after they had just scored a defensive touchdown.

Jets | Stuckey wins #2 WR job    Tue Sep 8, 06:56 PM

Dave Hutchinson, of the Newark Star-Ledger, reports that Chansi Stuckey has won the #2 WR job for the New York Jets.

Jets | Stuckey to get first opportunity as No. 2 WR    Mon Aug 31, 09:38 PM

Tim Graham, of ESPN.com, reports New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said the No. 2 wide receiver job will be done by committee this season, but WR Chansi Stuckey will get the first opportunity as the second receiver.

Footballguys view: Stuckey had a big night on Saturday, but his two long receptions came on busted coverages, so we're not buying into the Stuckey hype just yet.

Jets | Clowney front-runner for #2 WR job    Wed Aug 26, 09:43 PM

M.A. Mehta, of the Newark Star-Ledger, reports that WR David Clowney worked with the first-team offense on Wednesday, August 26, and that he appears to be the front-runner for the #2 WR job.

Footballguys view: Chansi Stuckey will still have a role in the slot, even if Clowney starts, and Dustin Keller's clear role as the #2 target in the passing offense will keep either one from having significant fantasy value no matter who comes out on top.

Jets | Cotchery is the 'X' - Stuckey is the 'Z'    Tue Aug 11, 07:58 PM

Rich Cimini, from the New York Daily News, reports Jerricho Cotchery, who was the Z receiver (flanker) last season with Laveranues Coles at the X spot (split end), is being used mostly in the X spot. Generally speaking, the X usually is on the backside of the formation, which should create more single coverage -- so they hope. Right now, Chansi Stuckey is working in the starting Z spot.

Footballguys view: The Jets want to get Cotchery in as many 1-on-1 situations as they can, and lining him up at split end gives him the best chance to do that. The NFL is all about mismatches and Cotchery could also be put in motion to get a clean release off the line of scrimmage. Cotchery isn't the Jets only weapon in the passing game and Dustin Keller should help take some of the attention away from him as well.

Jets | Stuckey the second best receiver behind Cotchery    Mon Aug 10, 08:20 PM

Dave Hutchinson, from the Newark Star-Ledger, reports wide receiver Chansi Stuckey had another sensational practice and is by far the second-best receiver on the roster behind Jerricho Cotchery. He's primarily a slot receiver, though, and it'll be interesting to see if the Jets leave him there full-time. Rex said Stuckey can also play outside and didn't sound reluctant to put him there. Once again, Ryan said he's happy with his receivers ("Maybe I'm wrong," he said) but he didn't rule out signing a veteran. "It depends who it is," he said.

Footballguys view: The Jets receiving corps is very inexperienced behind starter Jerricho Cotchery but so far Stuckey is standing out from the pack. Even if he wins the second wide receiver spot he will only be the third or fourth option in the passing game behind Cotchery, TE Dustin Keller, and RB Leon Washington.

Jets | No one seizing the WR2 job    Sun Aug 9, 08:20 PM

The New York Post is reporting Rex Ryan, who's in search of a second starting WR opposite Jerricho Cotchery has been mildly disappointed that no one has stepped up for the No. 2 spot, said he joked with WRs coach and former NFL WR Henry Ellard, saying, "Henry might be the best receiver on the field for us.''

Footballguys view: Ouch. The #2 wide receiver is actually the third or fourth target on the team behind WR Jerricho Cotchery, TE Dustin Keller, and RB Leon Washington. Brad Smith, Chansi Stuckey, David Clowney and Wallace Wright are all competing for that spot and the team is waiting for someone to elevate their game.

Jets | Stuckey having outstanding training camp    Sat Aug 8, 02:22 PM

Dave Hutchinson, of The Star-Ledger, reports New York Jets WR Chansi Stuckey is having an outstanding training camp. He had a solid morning workout Saturday, Aug. 8.

Footballguys view: Stuckey is the favorite to win the #2 WR job, but he would be third in the pecking order for targets, on a team that wants to run first. He will also be giving up some snaps to Brad Smith and David Clowney when the game situation or play call favors their skillset.

Jets | Stuckey in the slot seems to make sense to Ryan    Sat Aug 1, 04:31 PM

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said it seems to him WR Chansi Stuckey should play in the slot. 'Everyone knows that Stuckey is a great receiver in the slot,' Ryan said.

Footballguys view: Makes sense to us, too. It's just another reason that there won't be much production from the wide receivers not named Cotchery on the Jets this year. Stuckey will get his share of targets from the slot, even though he likely won't be on the field in two wide sets.

Jets | Team exploring WR market?    Thu Jul 30, 09:07 AM

Rich Cimini, of the New York Daily News, reports that he hears the Jets are "exploring the veteran receiver market".

Footballguys view: The Jets have a cast of possible #2 wide receivers that possess one skill you'd look for in a starter, but none are well-rounded receivers, so this makes sense.

Jets | Stuckey likely to be the #2 wide receiver    Sun Jul 26, 03:04 PM

Mark Cannizzaro, from the New York Post, reports that there's no clear-cut starter alongside Cotchery, with Chansi Stuckey and Brad Smith the only players with legitimate NFL experience. Stuckey, who played mostly as a third-down slot wide receiver last season, appears to be the most likely second starter with the versatile Smith the No. 3. Wallace Wright, who has been a special teams player, had a strong minicamp. David Clowney is the fastest player in the group, but he has been inconsistent catching the ball.

Footballguys view: Dustin Keller is actually #2 in the pecking order for targets, so no matter who wins the #2 wide receiver job, they are unlikely to have significant fantasy value.

Jets | Stuckey would start if season started today    Mon Jun 1, 03:45 PM

Rich Cimini, of the New York Daily News, reports New York Jets WR Chansi Stuckey would start opposite WR Jerricho Cotchery if the season started today.

Footballguys view: Stuckey is impressing teammates and coaches alike with his crisp route running ability. He is a smart player that rarely makes mental mistakes and he knows how to set up defenders to get open. We wonder if his size will keep him from being an effective starter. Coaches may have to monitor his playing time in order to keep him from wearing down. Also remember that the #2 WR with the Jets will actually be the 3rd or 4th target on passing downs behind Cotchery, Dustin Keller, and Leon Washington.
