Texans | Minor injury for Dalton Schultz    Tue Aug 1, 03:39 AM

Houston Texans TE Dalton Schultz (side) is sidelined because of a side injury but is expected to return to practice soon, according to head coach DeMeco Ryans.

Footballguys view: We'll see how quickly Schultz can get back to the field for the Texans. He can be a security blanket for rookie QB C.J. Stroud when healthy. Schultz is a TE2 with TE1 upside from a fantasy perspective. Last year for the Cowboys, Schultz had 57 catches for 577 yards and five touchdowns which made him the no.10 fantasy tight end in standard-scoring formats.

Texans | DeMeco Ryans heading to Houston    Tue Jan 31, 04:25 PM

San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans will be hired by the Houston Texans as their new head coach, according to a source Tuesday, Jan. 31.

Footballguys view: Ryans, a former player for the Texans, has a connection with the franchise and knows the building. He's the type of coach who can bring a much-needed change in culture to a losing franchise. We'll see what they build on offense around Ryans, as he's known for being a great defensive mind. The Texans also need to find the right quarterback to make it all work.

Texans | DeMeco Ryans could be hired in coming days    Mon Jan 30, 11:24 AM

San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans could meet with the Houston Texans Monday, Jan. 30, and be hired in the next day or two as head coach.

Footballguys view: It looks like Ryans will end up back in Houston, and the Broncos will keep looking for a new head coach. Ryans was one of the most coveted names in this hiring cycle, so it should be considered a win for the slumping Texans franchise if they can get him.

Texans | Houston setting its sights on DeMeco Ryans    Fri Jan 27, 01:51 PM

San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans has reportedly emerged as the top candidate for the head coaching job with the Houston Texans, according to multiple sources. Per NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, he is expected to meet with Houston at some point next week after the NFC Championship.

Footballguys view: Ryans was drafted by and played for the Texans for a few seasons to begin his pro career. He knows the organization and could choose them over the Denver Broncos. Reports indicate Ryans is the top choice left for Denver after Jim Harbaugh decided to stay at Michigan.

Broncos | DeMeco Ryans the top candidate for Denver?    Thu Jan 26, 12:57 PM

San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans has emerged as 'a top candidate' for the Denver Broncos head coach vacancy, per Mike Klis of 9News.com. 'Other Broncos' head coach candidates remain in the mix including Dallas Cowboys' defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, former New Orleans Saints' head coach Sean Payton and former Detroit Lions and Indianapolis Colts' head coach Jim Caldwell, according to a source. But Ryans appears to be a top choice.'

Footballguys view: Ryans would be the fourth, first-time head coach the Broncos have hired if he gets the job. Seen as the hottest head-coaching candidate out there, Ryans would be able to build on an already strong Broncos' defense. Who he would hire to run the offense (and fix QB Russell Wilson) is the biggest question mark if Ryans gets the job.

Texans | Houston to meet with DeMeco Ryans late in week    Mon Jan 16, 02:23 PM

San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans is scheduled to interview with the Houston Texans for their head coaching vacancy Friday, Jan. 20.

Footballguys view: It would be cool for Ryans to (in a way) go home to the Texans. A second-round pick for the Texans in the 2006 NFL draft, Ryans played in Houston from 2006-2011. After spending time with the Eagles as a player (2012-2015), Ryans began his coaching career with the 49ers in 2017. He's one of the hottest names in head coaching searches right now, and we anticipate he will finally get the nod to be a head coach this offseason.

Broncos | DeMeco Ryans slated to meet with Denver this week    Mon Jan 16, 02:18 PM

San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans is scheduled to interview with the Denver Broncos for their head coaching vacancy Thursday, Jan. 19.

Footballguys view: Ryans has everything teams want in a head coach. He's smart, connects with his players, and has proven results as a defensive coach. The one thing the Broncos might want more than anything, previous head coaching experience, is the only thing Ryans doesn't have. After being on the radar last year, Ryans is likely to get a head coaching job this offseason once the 49ers are done in the postseason.

Colts | DeMeco Ryans of interest to Indianapolis    Mon Jan 16, 01:12 PM

San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans is receiving interest from the Indianapolis Colts regarding their head coaching position, and the Colts have requested permission to interview Ryans, according to sources.

Footballguys view: Ryans should be a head coach in the near future. He is highly regarded in coaching circles, and Ryans is one of the fast risers in the NFL. There are four teams interested in him as a head coach in this cycle, and Ryans was on the list for teams last year. With the 49ers looking like a team that can win the Super Bowl, largely because of their defense, Ryans should get a head coaching job this time around.

Broncos | DEN wants to interview two more    Mon Jan 9, 11:21 AM

San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans and Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris have been requested for interviews for the Denver Broncos' head coaching vacancy.

Footballguys view: Ryans may be the hottest name out there when it comes to head coaching searches. The Broncos have a fine defense, but they need a ton of work on the offensive side of the ball. Going with a first-time coach for the fourth time in a row (Vance Joseph, Vic Fangio, Nathaniel Hackett) may not be in the Broncos' plans but interviewing Ryans just makes sense.

Eagles | DeMeco Ryans not at full speed    Tue Aug 4, 09:54 AM

Philadelphia Eagles LB DeMeco Ryans (Achilles') is not quite 100% in his return from a torn Achilles'. 'I still have a little ways to go,' Ryans said. 'Still need to gain a little bit of strength (in the foot), a little bit of explosiveness. Once I do that, I'll be ready.'

Footballguys view: After the Kiko Alonso trade, the Eagles were left with three strong ILBs, including Mychal Kendricks. Hopefully there is an odd man out for IDP leagues, because if the three split the two roles, it will hurt all of their values.

Footballguys view: Ryan actually fumbled an interception with no contact from an opponent on the play. Most of the Eagles came out to encourage him when he was put on the cart. The Eagles had lost Mychal Kendricks for a stretch, and now that he is mostly healthy, Casey Matthews will fill in for Ryans and stay on the field with Kendricks.

Eagles | Friday injury report    Fri Oct 31, 12:28 PM

Philadelphia Eagles S Nate Allen (hamstring) and WR Brad Smith (groin) are questionable for Week 9 against the Houston Texans. CB Brandon Boykin (hamstring), TE Brent Celek (back), OG Todd Herremans (biceps), C Jason Kelce (hernia), LB Mychal Kendricks (calf), WR Jeff Maehl (foot), LB DeMeco Ryans (groin) and CB Jaylen Watkins (wrist) are probable. All players practiced in full Friday, Oct. 31.

Footballguys view: Kelce is going to be a huge addition to the line, and Herremans is going to try to play through his biceps injury. Kendricks is also getting healthier and should help the Eagles defense. Allen has been a major liability in the secondary at times, so if he's out it shouldn't be a big deal for the Eagles.
