Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley said QB Blaine Gabbert (thumb), RB Justin Forsett (toe), TE Marcedes Lewis (calf), CB Kevin Rutland (quadriceps) and CB Jeremy Harris (back) will not play in the team's third preseason game.
| Footballguys view: Gabbert isn't going to play in week three of the preseason as the team prepares him to start for the regular season opener. He's not a lock to be ready by that time but the team wants to give Gabbert time to heal and see if he can be. Veteran Chad Henne will play in Gabbert's absence. |

Jacksonville Jaguars CBs Rashean Mathis (knee) and Aaron Ross are expected to battle for the starting job opposite CB Derek Cox. The battle has yet to take place in offseason workouts, as Mathis was only recently medically cleared to return to the team, and he was held out of 11-on-11 and 7-on-7 drills throughout minicamp. CB Kevin Rutland appears to be next in line, and he has played outside.
