Chicago Bears WR Johnny Knox had four receptions for 84 yards in Week 3 against the Green Bay Packers. WR Devin Hester had three grabs for 62 yards, while WR Dane Sanzenbacher reeled in five balls for 27 yards and a score, his second of the season. WR Sam Hurd also chimed in with one grab for 17 yards.
Footballguys view: Knox had a bad drop on what could have been a big day, and he also had a punt return TD called back by a phantom holding penalty. If any Bears WR is worth owning, it is Knox. |

Cowboys | Patrick Crayton and Sam Hurd in limbo Fri Sep 3, 02:30 AM
The status of Dallas Cowboys WRs Patrick Crayton and Sam Hurd is up in the air as the cut date looms Saturday, Sept. 4, reports David Moore, of The Dallas Morning News. Crayton is slated to make $2 million this year, while Hurd is due $1.759 million. The Cowboys are likely to keep one of those salaries, but not both. Crayton didn't play in the team's preseason finale, and caught just one pass during the preseason. He does, however, have more value around the league than Hurd does. If the team picks Hurd over Crayton, it could come down to his role on special teams, as Hurd is considered one of the team's best special teams players.

Cowboys | Sam Hurd could lose roster spot Thu Aug 26, 12:53 PM
Dallas Cowboys WR Sam Hurd could lose his roster spot if Dallas decides WR Kevin Ogletree is a more cost-effective option as a fifth wide receiver, reports The Dallas Morning News' David Moore. With the first four receiver spots essentially locked up, the Cowboys could choose Ogletree, who will make $395,000 this year, over Hurd, who is slated to make $1.8 million. Hurd is also a strong special teams player, but teams don't often spend that much on a special teams player. Cowboys coaches have also praised WR Jesse Holley for his special teams play this preseason.
Footballguys view: The NFL is a brutal and often cold-hearted business, but Hurd may get shown the door because the Cowboys could move forward with cheaper options. |

Dallas Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips said WR Sam Hurd and WR Kevin Ogletree will see significant amount of playing time in the team's first preseason game, reports CBSSports.com.
Footballguys view: Hurd is veteran depth with limited upside, but we love the future potential of Kevin Ogletree. He saw limited action last year, but has a good size/speed combination and is developing as a route runner. We feel he could be a great third receiver in the future behind Miles Austin and Dez Bryant. |

Cowboys | Sam Hurd no longer looking for trade Sat Jun 12, 04:18 PM
Dallas Cowboys WR Sam Hurd said he likes playing for the Cowboys and is no longer looking for a trade from a team, reports Calvin Watkins, of ESPNDallas.com.
Footballguys view: Hurd demanded a trade (just like Patrick Crayton) after the Cowboys selected Dez Bryant in the first-round of the 2010 NFL Draft. Now that he realizes a trade isn't going to happen, Hurd (just like Crayton) is now saying how much he'd love to say in Dallas. Cowboys | Sam Hurd staying away from workouts Wed May 12, 05:59 PM
Clarence E. Hill Jr., of The Fort Worth Star-Telegram, reports Dallas Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones said WR Sam Hurd is staying away from the team's offseason workouts and is looking for a trade. Jones said the team will try to accommodate Hurd's request.
Footballguys view: With the arrival of Dez Bryant it has both Sam Hurd and Patrick Crayton wanting out of Dallas. Bryant should start opposite Miles Austin which would make Roy Williams the third receiver in the Cowboys offense. Second-year pro Kevin Ogletree turned some heads last year and is in line to earn more playing time this year. We'll see if the Cowboys can get rid of one or both disgruntled wide receivers. |
