NFL | Brent Celek considering retirement Fri Aug 17, 07:33 PM
Free-agent TE Brent Celek (Eagles) said he has received a few contract offers but is considering retirement at this time.
Footballguys view: A fifth-round pick for the Eagles back in 2007, Celek was one of the best blocking tight ends in the league. At 33-years old and coming off a Super Bowl championship, we could see Celek decide to hang up his cleats. |

Lions | Detroit hosting Brent Celek Thu Mar 15, 12:50 PM
Free-agent TE Brent Celek (Eagles) is visiting the Detroit Lions Thursday, March 15.
Footballguys view: Celek still wants to play, and the Lions may get him in the fold. He's a blocking tight end, so don't expect much from a fantasy perspective if he signs. The Lions may use Michael Roberts as their top receiving tight end in 2018. |

Eagles | Brent Celek let go Tue Mar 13, 02:03 PM
Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek was released Tuesday, March 13.
Footballguys view: The Eagles are in penny-pinching mode after winning it all, and this move saves them $5 million against the cap. Celek is not much of a receiver but he can still contribute as a blocking tight end. |

Eagles | Brett Celek not ready to retire Tue Mar 6, 04:06 PM
Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek is planning to play in 2018, according to sources. He is scheduled to make $4 million next season.
Footballguys view: Not only will he make a nice stack of cash, but the Eagles legitimately have a chance at another Super Bowl. It makes sense for Celek to ride that wave while he can. |

Eagles | Brent Celek signs extension Tue Jan 26, 01:18 PM
Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek signed a three-year, $13 million extension Tuesday, Jan. 26, which includes $6 million guaranteed, according to sources.
Footballguys view: The Eagles have now locked down both of their tight ends. On Monday, Zach Ertz signed a five-year, $42.5 million deal with $20 million in guarantees. Now, the team keep Celek around for a reasonable price. New head coach Doug Pederson is bringing the West Coast offense back to the Eagles, and both tight ends were important to the plans for 2016. Ertz will be the most fantasy relevant of the two as he's the best receiver, but Celek will continue to work well as the in-line blocker. |

Eagles | Brent Celek productive again Sun Nov 22, 08:52 PM
Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek had seven catches for 79 yards in a 45-17 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 11.
Footballguys view: Zach Ertz left with a concussion on a scary head-first landing, so Celek could get the majority of tight end targets and be useful against Detroit on Thanksgiving. |

Eagles | Philly using more two-TE sets Wed Nov 18, 01:33 PM
Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly has been using more two-tight ends sets with TEs Zach Ertz and Brent Celek to better suit the skill set of his tight ends and RB DeMarco Murray, which has come at the expense of the wide receivers.
Footballguys view: The Eagles has emphasized '12' personnel two-tight end sets for two straight weeks and have been rewarded with 202 combined receiving yards from Ertz and Celek. |

Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek caught four passes for 134 yards, including a 60-yard catch in the first quarter, but had no touchdowns in a 20-19 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, Nov. 15.
Footballguys view: The tight ends were left open too often by the Dolphins defense. Jason Witten and the Cowboys are up next for Miami, while Celek and the Eagles get Tampa. |

Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek struggled with dropped passes Tuesday, Aug. 4. Celek oddly participated in the after-practice JUGS session, which is usually reserved for younger players.

Eagles | Zach Ertz needs to block better Thu Nov 20, 09:19 PM
Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz has played 143 fewer snaps than TE Brent Celek this season, and when asked why Ertz wasn't playing as much, head coach Chip Kelly pointed to Celek's superior skills as a run blocker.
Footballguys view: This is keeping Ertz from getting off the ground as a fantasy TE in this prolific offense. It could be something that caps his upside for the duration of his career with the Eagles because blocking is not his strength. |

Eagles | Zach Ertz's role shrinking Tue Nov 11, 12:24 PM
Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz continued to see his role shrink in Week 10 versus the Carolina Panthers Monday, Nov. 10, as head coach Chip Kelly seems more comfortable with TE Brent Celek because of his blocking skills.
Footballguys view: Fantasy owners need to move on from Ertz until we see more from the young tight end. Celek is the better play from this offense, and that may not change for the rest of the year. Ertz must work on his blocking moving forward. |

Eagles | Zach Ertz sees limited action Mon Nov 3, 09:43 AM
Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz played just 24 snaps in Week 9 Sunday, Nov. 2, because the team used a lot of three-receiver sets. TE Brent Celek played 64 snaps to block.
Footballguys view: Ertz has been letting fantasy owners down. It's time to find another backup tight end as we approach the fantasy playoffs. With Mark Sanchez starting at quarterback while Nick Foles is banged up, we need to see what the role is for Ertz going forward before we can recommend him for fantasy owners. |

Eagles | Friday injury report Fri Oct 31, 12:28 PM
Philadelphia Eagles S Nate Allen (hamstring) and WR Brad Smith (groin) are questionable for Week 9 against the Houston Texans. CB Brandon Boykin (hamstring), TE Brent Celek (back), OG Todd Herremans (biceps), C Jason Kelce (hernia), LB Mychal Kendricks (calf), WR Jeff Maehl (foot), LB DeMeco Ryans (groin) and CB Jaylen Watkins (wrist) are probable. All players practiced in full Friday, Oct. 31.
Footballguys view: Kelce is going to be a huge addition to the line, and Herremans is going to try to play through his biceps injury. Kendricks is also getting healthier and should help the Eagles defense. Allen has been a major liability in the secondary at times, so if he's out it shouldn't be a big deal for the Eagles. |

Eagles | Brent Celek could be stuck blocking a lot Tue Jul 8, 08:14 PM
Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek will likely spend more time blocking than running routes this year, according to Marcus Hayes of Philly.com. With OT Dennis Kelly (back) working his way back from an injury and OT Lane Johnson being suspended the first four games, Celek is more valuable to the team as a blocker.
Footballguys view: Zach Ertz and even James Casey could get more targets early on with this development. It helps Ertz's case for a hot start while Celek is kept in to block, and eliminates what little fantasy value Celek had. |

Eagles | James Casey could be in jeopardy Thu Mar 13, 10:33 PM
The Philadelphia Eagles could consider releasing TE James Casey if they want to keep four running backs and five wide receivers on the roster next season. The Eagles would only keep TEs Brent Celek and Zach Ertz in that scenario.
Footballguys view: Casey is a jack of all trades, but he's a master of none. The Eagles are set with Brent Celek and Zach Ertz at tight end. They could easily move on from Casey as he's never played up to his potential as a pro. |

Eagles | Team likes their TE corps Sat Jan 25, 09:11 PM
The Philadelphia Eagles like TEs James Casey, Brent Celek and Zach Ertz, and just because Casey and Celek will get raises in salary to $4 million in 2014, it doesn't mean they won't be back.

With just 25 catches and 348 receiving yards, Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek is on a 31-catch, 428-yard pace. Both numbers would be the lowest since his second year in the league in 2008. However, Celek is being used more as a blocking TE this year in the Eagles' No. 1 run offense.

Cardinals | Fast fact: Tight ends have burned Arizona's defense Sat Dec 7, 02:40 AM
In the Arizona Cardinals' five losses, opposing tight ends have caught 11 touchdown passes, and in last week's loss at the Philadelphia Eagles, all three of the Eagles' touchdowns were scored by TEs Zach Ertz and Brent Celek.

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz is now listed as a co-starter with TE Brent Celek.

Footballguys view: The team doesn't really use their tight ends that much in this offense. They're mostly relegated to blocking for the ground game. They will run a few out routes when defenses are so focused on the run. The quick pop pass out is part of the team's inside zone read offense. |
