Panthers | Carolina has disastrous season finale    Sun Jan 3, 07:24 PM

Carolina Panthers QB Teddy Bridgewater completed 13-of-23 passes for 176 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions, while replacement QB P.J. Walker ended with three interceptions. RB Rodney Smith led the team with 40 rushing yards and a score, while WR Curtis Samuel finished with seven grabs for a career-best 118 yards. WR D.J. Moore also hit the century mark with 101 receiving yards on 11 targets, while WR Robby Anderson ended up with three catches and 40 yards. SS Tre Boston led the defense with 10 total stops, a sack, a tackle for loss and a quarterback hit.

Footballguys view: Bridgewater hurt his foot in the game, but it's still clear that he's not the long term answer for the Panthers at quarterback. The Panthers pick 7th or 8th and should be in the market for a quarterback. Samuel had a big second half and should have teams lining up to sign him in free agency.

Giants | Tre Boston visits Giants    Mon Jul 22, 10:17 AM

Free-agent SS Tre Boston (Cardinals) will visit the New York Giants Monday, July 22.

Footballguys view: The Giants upgraded their safety group when they traded for Jabrill Peppers after letting Landon Collins walk in free agency. Signing Boston would give them two safeties with versatility and might relegate veteran Antoine Bethea to subpackages.

NFL | Tre Boston still looking for satisfactory offer    Sun Jun 2, 11:48 AM

Free-agent SS Tre Boston (Cardinals) indicated during an interview on SiriusXM NFL Radio that he has been contacted by multiple teams this offseason but hasn't been pleased with the contract offers he's received.

Footballguys view: The safety market bounced back this year in free agency, but Boston wasn't one of the beneficiaries. He'll probably get interest closer to his expectations after teams get a closer look at what they have at safety in training camp.

49ers | San Francisco unlikely to add safety    Sat May 25, 03:26 PM

Free-agent SS Eric Berry (Chiefs) and SS Tre Boston (Cardinals) likely will not receive interest from the San Francisco 49ers even though S Jimmie Ward (collarbone) is expected to be sidelined for eight to 12 weeks, in the opinion of NBC Sports Bay Area's Matt Maiocco.

Footballguys view: Ward is projected to be a starter at free safety, although this could open the door for last year's Week 1 starter Adrian Colbert. Maiocco thinks Berry's durability is also questionable, and Boston is more of a hybrid safety than pure free safety, which is Ward's position.

Cardinals | Tre Boston unhappy with offer    Fri Jun 22, 04:24 PM

Free-agent SS Tre Boston (Chargers) said the contract offer he received from the Arizona Cardinals was very disrespectful.

Footballguys view: Boston was a solid centerfielder last year, and it would seem that multiple teams could use someone with his skillset. The free agent safety market has been abnormally weak, but we think that he'll get an offer that probably includes starter money and role once every team gets a clear picture of their safety depth chart.

Footballguys view: In 16 games for the Chargers last year, Boston had 79 total tackles, five interceptions and eight passes defensed. He's only got a couple of visits on the open market so far this offseason. Perhaps the Cardinals are the best fit as he played for Cardinals head coach Steve Wilks in Carolina from 2014-2016.
