Week 3: vs Chicago Bears

All RB vs CHI

FBG says: Bad matchup. The Cardinals rushing offense is one of the worst in the league right now with only 122 rushing yards and just a single rush of over 10 yards through their first two games. A number of factors have gone against this rushing offense, the first being negative game scripts caused by poor play on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Sam Bradford has been ineffective under center while their defense has been unable to solely keep them in games. The offensive line in Arizona was ranked 30th by our Footballguys' offensive line guru Matt Bitonti last week and was the only unit in the league to receive a grade of "D" for run-blocking. It will help if right tackle Andre Smith can suit up this week, but even with Smith, this is still a tough line to run behind. The coaching staff's play selection for David Johnson has been questionable thus far as well, electing to run him between the tackles instead of getting him in space on sweeps or screens. They also have severely underutilized play action passes to keep the rushing defense honest. This may be due to the inept blocking, but Johnson is a player that needs space to display his true talents. The Cardinals don't get a break this week with the Chicago Bears coming to town. The Bears have given up only 143 rushing yards this season, fourth-fewest in the league. Opposing running backs have certainly struggled against this Bears squad, posting a league-low in fantasy points while failing to find the end zone in two games. Granted, the Bears have not faced particularly powerful rushing offenses (Green Bay and Seattle), but they did perform well against a top-tier Packers offensive line in Week 1. The defensive line for Chicago is absolutely stacked with what looks to be an elite interior defensive unit. Akiem Hicks is a proven Pro Bowl talent, but both Eddie Goldman and Roy Robertson-Harris have looked very impressive in this first couple of games. Given the ineffectiveness of the Cardinals offensive line, the Cardinals backfield should be in for a significant challenge on the ground this week.

Our View: Golden isn't ready yet after tearing an ACL last year. Chandler Jones will provide pressure on one side, but the Cardinals might have trouble creating disruption on the other side against a good Washington offensive line.
