Bills | Buffalo has no plans to cut Anquan Boldin    Sat Oct 28, 02:11 PM

Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane said the Bills have no plans of releasing WR Anquan Boldin from his contract if they are not able to move him before the trade deadline.

Footballguys view: Boldin wants to play....just not in Buffalo. The Bills own his rights even though Boldin wasn't with the team for two weeks before deciding to call it quits. They've allowed him to try to find a trade partner before next Tuesday's trade deadline.

NFL | Anquan Boldin looking to play again    Thu Oct 26, 07:35 PM

Retired WR Anquan Boldin has expressed a desire to play again and has received permission from the Buffalo Bills for his agent to seek a trade.

Footballguys view: There are enough banged up receiving corps in the league to think he might get a look, but honestly as much as we love Boldin, he is way past the expiration date and would have no real fantasy value.

Bills | Buffalo hasn't discussed Anquan Boldin    Tue Oct 3, 03:04 PM

Retired WR Anquan Boldin hasn't yet been discussed as a potential replacement by general manager Brandon Beane and head coach Sean McDermott.

Bills | Anquan Boldin retires    Sun Aug 20, 09:01 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Anquan Boldin announced Sunday, Aug. 20, that he has decided to retire from the NFL.

Footballguys view: Boldin's fantasy outlook was getting interesting with Jordan Matthews hurt after Sammy Watkins was traded, but he didn't seem to be too interested in seeing where the Bills season was going. He could be signed later in the year by a contender if he is willing to come out of retirement.

Bills | Anquan Boldin making team debut Thursday    Wed Aug 16, 11:28 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Anquan Boldin will make his team debut in the second preseason game Thursday, August 17, against the Philadelphia Eagles. He is expected to play a 'good amount in the first half,' as he wants to continue to nail down the timing in the passing game with QB Tyrod Taylor.

Footballguys view: Boldin's ADP of 221 overall, 72nd receiver off the. While it may rise a bit once we've seen him a bit more in this offense, we don't expect it to go too high. His age, the run-first offense he's in both limit his potential.

Bills | Anquan Boldin works in slot    Tue Aug 8, 08:06 PM

Buffalo Bills WR Anquan Boldin lined up as the slot receiver with the first-team offense during practice Tuesday, Aug. 8.

Footballguys view: The Bills use three wide receivers much less often than most teams. Boldin's value is down from where it was with the Lions last year, and he is on the fringe of draftable in all but very deep leagues.

Bills | Anquan Boldin headed to Bills    Mon Aug 7, 12:27 PM

Free-agent WR Anquan Boldin (Lions) will agree to a one-year deal with the Buffalo Bills Monday, Aug. 7.

Footballguys view: Zay Jones and Charles Clay's redraft appeal as late-round picks goes down with this news, but Boldin won't have as much value as he had in Detroit last year. Tyrod Taylor and the offense gets a small bump, but with Taylor having lackluster practices in the transition to Rick Dennison's offense, it's probably not an optimistic outlook for their pass offense. Overall this isn't that significant for fantasy, but it helps the Bills who sorely needed more experience at wide receiver.

Bills | Anquan Boldin to visit Monday    Fri Jul 21, 02:17 PM

Free-agent WR Anquan Boldin (Lions) is scheduled to meet with the Buffalo Bills on Monday, July 24.

Footballguys view: An interesting signing if it happens, and it could hurt rookie Zay Jones' stock a bit. While Boldin's better days are behind him, he is a good enough possession receiver that we could see Tyrod Taylor leaning on him quote a bit. He would also be good insurance against yet another Sammy Watkins foot injury.

Free-agent WR Anquan Boldin (Lions) said he has talked with several teams about the possibility of signing and is scheduled to meet with an undisclosed team Sunday, July 23.

Bills | Anquan Boldin a fit in Buffalo?    Sun Jul 9, 08:56 PM

Free-agent WR Anquan Boldin (Bills) is going to be signed, in the opinion of Brian Baldinger of the NFL Network, and Baldinger believes the Buffalo Bills are the best fit for Boldin.

Footballguys view: Boldin would be a big upgrade at the #2 receiver spot for Buffalo even at this late stage of his career, although the team doesn't use a slot receiver as much as the Lions did last year. Boldin might have to wait for an injury to an established receiver to get a call from a team.

Ravens | BAL unlikely looking at Anquan Boldin    Fri Jun 23, 04:23 PM

Free-agent WR Anquan Boldin (Lions) probably is not an option for the Baltimore Ravens at this point because the team is content with the receivers they have on the roster, in the opinion of the Baltimore Sun's Jeff Zrebiec.

Footballguys view: It's fun to think about Boldin playing in Baltimore again but the reality is he's unlikely to go there. Many reports indicate that Boldin wants to play for a contender and perhaps play near his home in Florida.

NFL | Anquan Boldin waiting to sign before camp    Tue Jun 20, 12:16 AM

Free-agent WR Anquan Boldin (Lions) said that his preference is to sign with a team 'right before training camp.'

Footballguys view: Boldin proved last year with the Lions that he still had something left in the tank. He's looking for the 'right situation' and previous reports had indicated Boldin wants to stay near his Florida home. The veteran receiver will still be playing somewhere in 2017.

Free-agent WR Anquan Boldin (Lions) may prefer to sign with a team closer to his Florida home, according to people close to Boldin.

Lions | Anquan Boldin appears unlikely to return    Sat May 6, 10:47 AM

Although free-agent WR Anquan Boldin (Lions) does not plan to retire, he has not had discussions with the Detroit Lions for more than a month. In the opinion of MLive.com's Kyle Meinke, the odds of him returning to Detroit for the 2017 season are growing increasingly slim, especially after the Lions drafted WR Kenny Golladay in the third round of the draft. In addition, Boldin's No. 80 jersey has been reassigned to TE Michael Roberts.

Footballguys view: Boldin proved last year that he could still produce at the pro level. He's not done, but Boldin is likely in no rush to sign with a new team. We should get closer to training camp and hear more buzz about a potential landing spot for Boldin, but it sounds like a return to Detroit is not in the cards.

Detroit Lions general manager Bob Quinn said Saturday, April 29, that the 'door's open' for free-agent WR Anquan Boldin (Lions) to return to the Detroit Lions.

Ravens | Anquan Boldin may be option for Ravens    Sun Apr 30, 04:19 PM

Free-agent WR Anquan Boldin (Lions) has received interest from the Baltimore Ravens this offseason.

Footballguys view: The Ravens are really only two deep at wide receiver with Breshad Perriman and his checkered injury past being one and Mike Wallace being the other. The rest of the depth chart is full of inexperience, so a return to Baltimore would make sense. He might be relevant in fantasy leagues if he signs with the Ravens and one of their top two receivers go down, and he could also play a lot in the slot even if they stay healthy.

Free-agent WR Anquan Boldin (Lions) said he will play in 2017 and is deciding with whom to sign. Boldin could return to the Lions, but he has also been linked to the Ravens, among other teams.

Footballguys view: You can find work when you put in the effort and prove yourself to be a solid possession receiver like Boldin has. He won't take up much cap room either, so he'll be signed soon enough.

Updating an ongoing story, Detroit Lions executives want free-agent WR Anquan Boldin (Lions) to return, but reaching an agreement on a new deal is becoming an uncertainty.

Footballguys view: According to OverTheCap.com, the Lions only have around $6.8 million left in cap space this year. That's barely enough to sign their rookie class. If Boldin continues playing in Detroit, it will be for a bargain basement price.

Detroit Lions impending free-agent WR Anquan Boldin said he is not sure if he will play in 2017 but would be open to re-signing with the Lions if he does continue to play.

Footballguys view: Boldin was a success with the Lions, both in terms of production at his age and the Lions advancing to the playoffs. He'll find work at some point in 2017 if he wants to play, but is on the very fringe of fantasy relevance, and only in a plum situation such as the Lions slot receiver.

Lions | Anquan Boldin still has issue with finger    Thu Dec 29, 08:03 PM

Detroit Lions WR Anquan Boldin (finger) practiced Thursday, Dec. 29, with 'what appeared to be a splint on his left ring finger,' and he also 'did not catch any balls with that hand during the open portion of practice.' In addition, he was only using his right hand to catch passes during red-zone passing drills.

Footballguys view: Boldin is a decent possession receiver and that's about all, so if he is struggling to catch the ball the Lions shouldn't expect much from him. We wouldn't either and wouldn't have him in any lineups.

Lions | Anquan Boldin to have big role    Thu Sep 8, 12:41 PM

Detroit Lions WR Anquan Boldin will be a big part of the offense this season, according to offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter.

Footballguys view: There are a ton of weapons here, most of which possessing more upside than the 4,000 year old Boldin. Yes, he's the third wide receiver on a team which will likely run a lot of three-wide sets, but add in tight end Eric Ebron, and Boldin is unlikely to be Matt Stafford's first choice on most plays. We wouldn't start him in redraft or daily fantasy leagues this week.

Lions | Anquan Boldin expects to work in slot    Thu Aug 4, 12:23 AM

Detroit Lions WR Anquan Boldin has been a steady target for QB Matthew Stafford throughout training camp, according to beat writer Tim Twentyman. He is expected to step into the slot and add toughness, experience and production to the position group.

Footballguys view: There are two takeaways from this. First, this frees Golden Tate up for more outside work, which raises his potential floor (and ceiling). Right now Tate is ranked as a WR3, but we could see him surpass that due to this move. The second is that we might end up bumping guys like Eric Ebron and Marvin Jones down a peg. Boldin himself is likely no more than a WR6 but those slot targets will eat into Ebron and Jones' production.

Lions | Anquan Boldin working out of the slot    Fri Jul 29, 05:24 PM

Detroit Lions WR Anquan Boldin spent a lot of time with the first-team offense with most of his repetitions as the slot receiver Friday, July 29.

Footballguys view: This is not great for Eric Ebron, as two of them would be competing for targets in the middle of the field. T.J. Jones was set up to have the lead for the slot job with less imposing veterans like Jeremy Kerley, Andre Roberts, and Bubba Caldwell as competition, but his road to relevance in deep dynasty leagues is rougher now.
