New Orleans Saints OT Fisayo Awolaja, WR Simmie Cobbs, WR Travin Dural, WR Cyril Grayson, DE Corbin Kaufusi, LB Drew Lewis, LB Darnell Sankey and FB Shane Smith were waived Friday, Aug. 30. The team also released TE A.J. Derby, DE Geneo Grissom, OG Ryan Groy and RB Jacquizz Rodgers.
Footballguys view: Cobbs, Dural, and Grayson have been on and off of rosters during their short careers and could catch on a practice squad. |

Saints | Jacquizz Rodgers signs with Saints Sat Aug 3, 01:13 PM
Free-agent RB Jacquizz Rodgers (Buccaneers) signed with the New Orleans Saints Saturday, Aug. 3. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. The team also waived RB Rob Kelley.
Footballguys view: Kelley lasted about a week with the Saints. Rodgers is there to give the team veteran depth at the position if he makes the 53-man roster. He can add value to the roster because of his ability as a receiver out of the backfield. |

Buccaneers | Jacquizz Rodgers finished in Tampa? Fri Apr 12, 09:15 PM
Free-agent RB Jacquizz Rodgers (Buccaneers) is unlikely to be re-signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, in the opinion of Geoffrey C. Arnold of The Oregonian.
Footballguys view: The Bucs are set at the top of the depth chart with guys like Peyton Barber and Ronald Jones. Don't be surprised if they add more talent to the RB corps in the 2019 NFL draft, and don't expect Rodgers to be a part of their plans...unless injuries hit the depth chart in training camp. |

Buccaneers | Charles Sims not a lock to stick on roster Sun Aug 12, 01:51 PM
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Charles Sims is not guaranteed to make the final roster, especially if undrafted rookie free agent Shaun Wilson continues to impress, according to The Tampa Bay Times' Greg Auman, who believes Wilson could make the team at the expense of Sims or Jacquizz Rodgers.
Footballguys view: Wilson is more dynamic in space and has been turning heads since he joined the team. Sims stayed on the free agent market for a while and probably isn't a very coveted player at this point. Getting beaten out by a UDFA is clearly possible. |

Buccaneers | Ronald Jones listed as No. 3 RB Mon Aug 6, 05:15 PM
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Ronald Jones is listed as the third running back on the Buccaneers' first unofficial depth chart behind RBs Peyton Barber and Jacquizz Rodgers.
Footballguys view: This depth chart shows just how far Jones has to go. The talent is there, and his game was reminiscent of a young Jamaal Charles. Just like Charles (who didn't do much as a rookie), Jones may take some time to make an impact as a pro. We'll continue to watch this competition for the top spot as training camp continues. |

Buccaneers | Jacquizz Rodgers quiet in Week 3 Sun Sep 24, 04:31 PM
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers rushed for 15 yards on five carries against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3.
Footballguys view: Rodgers faces a tough Giants run defense next week, but one that was bested by an Eagles running game that was ineffective through the first two weeks. He'll be a what the heck flex one more week before giving way to Doug Martin. |

Buccaneers | Jacquizz Rodgers dealing with flu Wed Sep 20, 09:50 AM
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers (illness) started in Week 2 despite batting with the flu.
Footballguys view: Watch Rodgers during the week of practice to monitor his participation. Doug Martin is still suspended for two more games, so Rodgers remains as the primary back for the Buccaneers. That makes him a RB2/flex option for fantasy owners in all formats. |

Buccaneers | Jacquizz Rodgers reaches end zone Sun Sep 17, 04:57 PM
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers rushed for 67 yards and one touchdown on 19 carries against the Chicago Bears in Week 1.
Footballguys view: Rodgers didn't fare much better than Devonta Freeman did last week against the underrated Bears front seven, but the Bucs controlled the game and gave him scoring opportunities. He'll be a flex play against the Vikings next week. |

Buccaneers | Tampa Bay to use RBBC without Doug Martin Fri Sep 8, 01:43 PM
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers will most likely be the first- and second- down back, while Charles Sims will handle most of the third-down work and Peyton Barber will be the goal-line back while Doug Martin serves his season-opening three-game suspension, according to ESPN's Jenna Laine.
Footballguys view: If Barber is the goal line back, that takes some luster off of Rodgers as a first three weeks RB2/Flex play, although next weeks matchup against the Bears should at least be flexworthy. Week 4 against the Giants is a much tougher draw for Rodgers and the Bucs running game. |

Buccaneers | Jacquizz Rodgers could beat out Doug Martin? Sun Jul 30, 03:16 PM
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers has received plenty of praise from teammates and coaches about exceptional vision, toughness and his versatility, according to ESPN's Jenna Laine, who adds 'there's always the possibility' Rodgers could remain the starter after Doug Martin returns from his three-game suspension to begin the season.
Footballguys view: Rodgers has been workmanlike and steady when the Bucs have asked him to do more, but his ability to hold up for a long stretch of games under a heavy workload is unkown. As long as Martin returns to 2015 form, he should be the starter when he returns in Week 4. |

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers is being counted on to 'step up' for the first three games of the season while Doug Martin serves the remainder of his PED suspension from last season, according to ESPN.com's Jenna Laine.
Footballguys view: Rodgers is available in the second half of drafts and should start the first three games against at least a few weak run defenses based on last year's performances. He's a free strong flex play at his current ADP. |

Free-agent RB Jacquizz Rodgers (Buccaneers) agreed to terms on a two-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Thursday, March 9, worth $3.3 million, according to a source.
Footballguys view: The team has to get Doug Martin through a three-game ban to begin the season. Rodgers did a good job last year filling in as the starter for Martin, and he should do the same in 2017. |

Buccaneers | Jacquizz Rodgers to see bigger role? Thu Dec 8, 01:54 AM
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers might see added playing time in Week 14 against the New Orleans Saints. 'It was good to get him back,' offensive coordinator Todd Monken said Wednesday, Dec. 7. 'I would assume he'll only be better this week in a little more of an expanded role.'
Footballguys view: The Saints' rush defense averages 97.9 yards allowed per game with only 13 rushing scores handed over so far. While the Saints allow a lot of yards through the air, they are more stingy on the ground. Rodgers won't see enough work to really be more than a RB4, but it could hurt Doug Martin a bit of Rodgers gets hot and they split the carries more evenly. |

Buccaneers | Doug Martin injured late in win Sun Dec 4, 09:30 PM
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Doug Martin (undisclosed) left the Week 13 game against the San Diego Chargers late in the second half.

At this time, there's no need to be concerned about Martin's availability down the stretch. We'll know more about this injury when practice kicks off for the Bucs this week. |
