NFL | B.J. Raji on hiatus Tue Mar 15, 12:31 PM
Updating previous items, free-agent DT B.J. Raji (Packers) said he's going on hiatus for the 2016 season after his mother and aunt's health issues. His mother is on dialysis with diabetes and his aunt has breast cancer. 'For the record, I had a very, very nice deal on the table,' Raji said. 'I had a nice, long-term deal on the table from Green Bay, and I had the interest of some other playoff-contending teams.'
Footballguys view: Good for him. Raji is going to take some time away from football while he deals with more important matters. Do not count out a return in 2016--possibly back to the Packers--for Raji. |

Free-agent DT B.J. Raji (Packers) plans to retire from football, according to a source. The Green Bay Packers, Raji's former team, are aware of his decision.
Footballguys view: A somewhat surprising move from the veteran tackle here. Raji has been plagued by injuries and inconsistencies during his pro career, and he may want to get healthy in 2016 with an eye on returning in 2017. |

Packers | B.J. Raji is full go Thu May 28, 07:33 PM
Green Bay Packers DT B.J. Raji (biceps) said he is back to full strength after suffering a torn biceps last season.
Footballguys view: Raji is in a make-or-break season for the Packers. He missed all of the 2014 season after coming off a disappointing 2013 season where he played defensive end. We'll see if Raji can get back on track this season. |

Free-agent DT B.J. Raji (Packers) was offered a one-year deal for less than $2 million by the Green Bay Packers, according to a source familiar with the negotiations.

Packers | Show interest in B.J. Raji Tue Mar 10, 09:58 PM
The Green Bay Packers have shown an interest in re-signing DT B.J. Raji (biceps).
Footballguys view: He missed the 2014 season due to a biceps injury. Coming off this injury, it's difficult to imagine the Packers giving him much money...and they probably won't commit to him with a long-term deal. Sign him cheap on a "prove it" contract and see if Raji can get back to the player he was a few years ago. |

Green Bay Packers WR Jared Abbrederis (undisclosed), OG Don Barclay (undisclosed) and DT B.J. Raji (biceps) are expected to be placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Aug. 26.
Footballguys view: Not a kind preseason for the Packers, who can't seem to make it very long without an offensive tackle injury. Raji was a stalwart up front for Dom Capers' defense, so the Packers will lose some size on the defensive line. |

Packers | B.J. Raji out for year Sat Aug 23, 02:31 PM
Green Bay Packers DT B.J. Raji (biceps) will miss the entire 2014 season with a torn bicep.
Footballguys view: That's probably a wrap on his career with the Packers. He signed a one-year, $4 million contract earlier this year in one last attempt to make an impact in Green Bay. He was always an odd fit at DE for Dom Capers' defense, and now he'll hit the open market recovering from this injury. His new team should move him back to where he's more effective at defensive tackle. |

Packers | B.J. Raji will play at nose tackle Tue Mar 25, 03:26 PM
Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said DT B.J. Raji will play at nose tackle in 2014.
Footballguys view: This move should jump start Raji's stalled career. He hasn't recorded a sack since 2011 and was an odd fit at defensive end in the Packers 3-4 defense. |

Packers | B.J. Raji terms Tue Mar 18, 10:38 AM
Updating previous reports, Green Bay Packers DT B.J. Raji received a one-year, $4 million deal with $500,000 in guaranteed money.
Footballguys view: It will be interesting to see if Dom Capers can get more out of Raji. He's a disruptive player, but Raji hasn't had a sack since 2011. Capers 3-4 is an odd fit for a player like Raji, and we'll have to see if he can be more creative in 2014. |

Packers | B.J. Raji to move back to old position Fri Mar 14, 05:58 PM
Green Bay Packers DT B.J. Raji will be allowed to move back to his natural position, nose tackle, this year. The decision to move him back to nose tackle was likely the reason that Raji decided to re-sign. 'When we went playing a balanced front, (we would) play Raji in the middle and Pickett out at the end. Tilted nose is a little to one side or the other (of the center). That's a technique you have to work on to be able to deal with both the guard's and the center's blocks,' defensive coordinator Dom Capers said.
Footballguys view: Raji was an odd fit in Capers' system at defensive end. Moving back to nose is the right move for him. Perhaps he can get back to creating interior pressure like he did early in his career. Raji hasn't had a sack since 2011. |

The Green Bay Packers re-signed DT B.J. Raji Friday, March 14. It is expected to be a one-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Packers | Indications B.J. Raji will decline offer Fri Mar 7, 08:15 AM
There are indications free-agent DT B.J. Raji (Packers) will decline the Green Bay Packers' one-year offer. There were reports the two sides were close to agreement, but no deal is imminent.
Footballguys view: It looks like Raji is going to explore his options on the open market. He hasn't had a sack since 2011, and Raji is an odd fit for the Dom Caper's 3-4 defense. He is best suited to play in a 4-3, and there may be a few teams willing to give him a shot. |

Packers | More on offer to B.J. Raji Thu Mar 6, 10:03 AM
Updating an earlier report, the Green Bay Packers have offered DT B.J. Raji a one-year, $4 million deal. They have also offered him a two-year deal for undisclosed money.
Footballguys view: The first of many "prove it" deals which should work out well for both sides. Raji has played sporadically well and gets a chance to prove he's worth more, while the the Packers get a year to see if he's worth a longer term investment. |

Packers | Close to deal with B.J. Raji Thu Mar 6, 08:20 AM
The Green Bay Packers are close to re-signing free-agent DT B.J. Raji to a one-year deal before he hits the open market.

Packers | Intend to spend Thu Feb 13, 02:48 PM
The Green Bay Packers, usually frugal with their offseason expenditures, plan to take advantage of their almost $30 million in salary cap space to spend on outside free agents this year, according to sources with knowledge of the team's plan. The Packers could sign as many as five players. They'll likely try to become more athletic and versatile along the defensive line, to start. This could be bad news for impending free-agent DT B.J. Raji.
Footballguys view: The Packers have a ton of work to do on the defensive side of the ball and there are plenty of free agents who could fit the bill. Normally GM Ted Thompson stays well out of free agency but perhaps this time it will be different. Tim Tebow might also return to the league. Anything can happen. |

Packers | Looking to rebuild defense to suit philosophy of DC Wed Feb 12, 09:57 PM
The Green Bay Packers are committed to rebuilding its defense in a way that best suits the philosophy of defensive coordinator Dom Capers, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport. That means getting more athletics and versatile along the defensive line. That might be bad news for DT B.J. Raji, who turned down $8 million to stay with the team last season. The team wants linemen that better resemble DT Datone Jones. Raji and DT Ryan Pickett, who are 330 pounds, might no longer fit what the club wants to do.
