Recent Game Summaries

2014 Week 1 vs SEA (4 / 3 / 26 / 0 rec)

The only tight end to see any targets, Quarless did a good job catching his targets. There were actually two dropped passes--one in the end zone on a two-point conversion which failed and one later in the fourth quarter. On that play Quarless ran a short out and Aaron Rodgers threw the ball little bit low, but it was still catchable. While Quarless was on the field for 46 snaps (or 74 percent of all offensive snaps), he ended up blocking a lot to make up for offensive line injuries and didn't have much luck getting open when he got the chance to run a route.

2014 Week 2 vs NYJ (2 / 1 / 8 / 0 rec)

Quarless did a lot of blocking and some short routes during his 37 offensive snaps. Most of the time the Jets did a good job covering when he went out for a pass, but a lot of the time the Packers had him stay in to assist the tackles in slowing the fierce Jets pass rush. Quarless made a nice grab on a route where he used his body to get some separation by blocking out the defender. He couldn't break the tackle for more yards though, but got the first down.

2014 Week 3 vs DET (5 / 4 / 43 / 1 rec)

The starting tight end spot has apparently been locked down by Andrew Quarless and while he has been tasked with blocking on a lot of his snaps, he is also getting a steady stream of targets. In fact, he's the only tight end getting targeted regularly, and the only one at all targeted in this game. He did a good job of hauling in four of his five targets on Sunday, often draped with a defender as well. That was definitely the case with his touchdown grab, which came on his first target late in the first quarter. On the play, which was a 3rd and 1 at the 12 yard line, Quarless lined up on the strong side of the line and ran a short post while keeping his body between the defender and his quarterback. Rodgers delivered the ball on a frozen rope and Quarless, with a defender virtually on his back, made a nice catch for the score. Quarless had a lot of success on shorter routes but never had an uncontested reception, but did an excellent job of making catches anyway.
