Week 8: at New Orleans Saints

Mark and Joe say: Great matchup. Aaron Rodgers has thrown 43/64 for 519 yards, six TDs and zero interceptions over the past two weeks, relying heavily on his wide receivers. Jordy Nelson (21 targets for 13/187/2 receiving) and Randall Cobb (14 for 11/179/2) have both handled two TDs during that time span, while Davante Adams (nine for 7/98/1) and Andrew Quarless (six for 3/20/1) have found pay-dirt as well. The Packers' passing attack is humming along quite nicely at the season's midway point. The Saints' pass D is ranked 28th in the NFL averaging 270.5 net yards allowed per game, with 11 passing scores given up vs. three interceptions (tied for 24th in the NFL) and nine sacks (tied for 25th) generated to date. They are sub-par just about any way you slice it when it comes to pass D this year. Matthew Stafford rang up 27/40 for 285 net yards, two TDs and two interceptions in a come-from-behind win last week (three sacks for -14 yards taken), while Mike Glennon managed to take the Saints to OT in Week 5 (19/32 for 248 net yards, two TDs and one interception thrown, with one sack taken for -1 yards). This is a great matchup for the Packers despite being on the road this weekend.

Recent Game Summaries

2014 Week 5 vs MIN (2 / 2 / 19 / 0 rec)

Both of Andrew Quarless' receptions came on quick passes during short routes. Quarless did a good job on his first catch as he ran a short out, caught the ball and turned upfield to gain some more yards. On his second catch, Quarless again ran a short route, caught the ball and fought his way almost to a first down.

2014 Week 6 vs MIA (5 / 2 / 11 / 1 rec)

Quarless had a quiet day up until he caught the game-winning touchdown. He was unable to come up with a pair of 3rd down targets due to good coverage and rushed throws by Rodgers. With six seconds left and needing a TD for the win, Quarless lined up wide to the right facing single coverage. Rodgers threw a quick back shoulder fade and Quarless made it look easy as he bodied out the defender and made the grab to complete the Packer comeback.

2014 Week 7 vs CAR (1 / 1 / 9 / 0 rec)

Quarless' only catch was on a short "out" route which he caught and turned upfield to add another eight yards on it. Quarless was on the field for 27 out of 58 offensive snaps, but Rodgers rarely looked his way when the tight end wasn't acting as a blocker.
