Summary

Quarless comes into the 2015 season as the starting tight end for the Packers. He has a lot going for him, specifically playing on a pass happy team with Aaron Rodgers at the helm. At 6'4, 250 lbs, Quarless has a nice blend of size and speed. In his first three years, Quarless has not had many chances to show off his impressive athleticism, but when given the chance, he has made plays. Aaron Rodgers has gone out of his way to praise Quarless this off-season, even going so far as to predict a breakout season. Richard Rodgers is the only player standing in his way, so Quarless has the potential to improve upon last season's lackluster stats (29/323/3). Unfortunately for Quarless, if he were to hold off Richard Rodgers and play the majority of snaps, he would still be the #5 option in the passing game. Currently, Quarless represents a #3 tight end with the upside to be an emergency bye week fill in. (June 16)

Latest News

Packers | Andrew Quarless arrested (Sat Jul 4, 01:41 PM) - Green Bay Packers TE Andrew Quarless was arrested early Saturday, July 4, for allegedly firing a gun into the ground, according to police. Quarless supposedly was involved in a fight and fled the scene, but was apprehended. The tight end has been charged with discharging a firearm in public.

Our View: That's not good. Quarless is facing up to a year in jail for the first-degree misdemeanor (in Florida). The league is going to take any arrest involving gun play quite seriously, so a suspension could be a possibility once the legal process has been exhausted. That might take some time, so Quarless could be okay--for now. Fantasy owners are avoiding the Green Bay tight end anyway, and this incident isn't going to improve his standing in fantasy circles.

Packers | Richard Rodgers to see more snaps? (Wed Jul 1, 04:53 PM) - Green Bay Packers TE Richard Rodgers could see more playing time in 2015, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com. Rodgers played 528 snaps, while fellow TE Andrew Quarless played 695 snaps. Demovsky said he wouldn't be surprised if those numbers reversed this season.

Our View: Even if it is Rodgers that gets more snaps this year, the Packers tight end position will not produce a fantasy relevant option. The wide receivers will dominate targets, and the team has good enough depth to keep wide receiver primary if one of the starters goes down. Rodgers was a curious third pick last year considering that he is not much of a blocker or athlete as a pass catcher.
