Week 12: at Minnesota Vikings

Mark and Joe say: Good matchup. Green Bay blasted the Vikings 42-10 back in Week 5 - Aaron Rodgers threw TD passes to all three of his top wide receivers (three targets for 1/66/1 receiving for Jordy Nelson; four for 3/34/1 for Randall Cobb; four for 1/11/1 flowing to Davante Adams), and then watched Eddie Lacy seal the deal with two third-quarter TD rushes (after which the first team sat out and Matt Flynn led the Packers the rest of the way to an easy blowout win). A lot of NFL teams have received the Rodgers/Nelson/Cobb/Adams/Flynn-in-late treatment this season - most recently, they bombed Philadelphia 53-20 with 24/38 for 365 net yards passing, three TDs and zero interceptions thrown. Cobb led the team in receiving with 13 targets for 10/129/0 receiving, while Nelson handled 10 targets for 4/109/1, followed by Eddie Lacy (four for 3/45/1). Adams also notched another TD with two targets for 2/13/1 receiving. It's all good for the Packers in this phase of the game, folks. The Vikings' pass D is ranked eighth in the NFL averaging 225.2 net passing yards allowed per game, with 17 passing TDs given up vs. 10 interceptions (tied for tenth in the NFL) and 30 sacks recorded to date (tied-third). Jay Cutler had his way with this group last week, though, throwing 31/43 for 330 yards passing, three TDs and two interceptions (zero sacks taken), while Robert Griffin III was sacked five times for -25 yards two games ago en route to 18/28 for 225 net yards passing, one TD thrown and one interception given up. Green Bay's offense is on a roll, while the Vikings' secondary got burned last week - advantage, Green Bay.

Recent Game Summaries

2014 Week 10 vs CHI (5 / 2 / 10 / 1 rec)

As has been the case for the most part this season, the tight ends were not featured again this week against the Chicago Bears. Which means we are once again left with just a few scraps to glean what we can from Andrew Quarless and the other tight ends. Quarless is a big, physical target and took a pretty big hit from safety Chris Conte, but held on to the ball for a touchdown. Several of the other targets were just a little off, and Quarless was unable to haul them in. While he is a sold receiver, he doesn't have the athleticism to make the really tough catches.

2014 Week 11 vs PHI (2 / 2 / 35 / 0 rec)

Both of Quarless' catches were in the middle of the field. The first was a check down, and on the play, Quarless was in blocking and made a late release down the field. When nobody downfield got open, Aaron Rodgers threw the ball short and Quarless ran the rest of the way for a first down. On the second reception, Quarless released down the middle of the field and nobody picked him up. Rodgers hit him with a quick pass, in stride and Quarless made the catch for the first down.
