New York Giants DT Cullen Jenkins (calf), OT Adam Snyder (knee) and LB Jacquian Williams (concussion, shoulder) have been ruled out for Week 13. DE Mathias Kiwanuka (knee) and OT Justin Pugh (quadriceps) are listed as questionable, while LB Jameel McClain (knee), CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (back, hamstring), FS Antrel Rolle (non-injury) and OG Geoff Schwartz (toe) are listed as probable.   Giants | Defensive line changes coming    Sat Oct 25, 12:37 AM

New York Giants DT Cullen Jenkins (calf) is expected to miss at least a few weeks, so DEs Robert Ayers and Mathias Kiwanuka could be asked to play interior positions more frequently in pass-rush situations.   Giants | Mathias Kiwanuka could be pushed for starting job    Mon Jul 14, 02:13 PM

New York Giants DE Mathias Kiwanuka is considered the leading candidate for one of the starting defensive end jobs but could be pushed by DEs Robert Ayers and Damontre Moore for the job during training camp.

Footballguys view: Ayers never lived up to his first-round draft status in Denver, but he could be energized by a fresh start with the Giants. Moore has some upside but has yet to play up to his potential as a pro. The Giants could use some form of a rotation at the position if Kiwanuka doesn't look markedly better.

DE Jason Pierre-Paul (shoulder) is dealing with a serious shoulder injury. Tuck feels he and Kiwanuka could tough it out for the whole month if need be. 'I think we can,' Tuck said Monday, Dec. 2.   Giants | Have used some 3-4 looks in practice    Tue Aug 6, 11:48 AM

The New York Giants usually use a strict 4-3 defensive alignment, but they have used some 3-4 formations or hybrid looks that ask their defensive ends to stand up and either play outside linebacker or at least look as though they might. The idea is to confuse the opposing offense and possibly to be in better position to react to run-heavy, read-option offenses like the Washington Redskins have, and perhaps the Philadelphia Eagles will use. DE Mathias Kiwanuka played linebacker last season before moving back to defensive end, and he is someone who can fit into this hybrid system nicely.

Footballguys view: This could definitely affect our IDP matchups for the Giants against those read-option teams. We'll be watching to see if other teams follow their lead and mix up fronts to match up against the read option running game.

'I haven't been held this much since I was a baby,' Kiwanuka said after the game. 'You've got to understand that these refs have been put in a tough situation, without having weeks, months, years to prepare like the other refs had. Umenyiora said Reese's comments overlook the fact that the team's contract offers have been for far less money than he thinks he deserves, and far less than the $10.95 million guaranteed that DL Mathias Kiwanuka just got from the Giants. 'Last year I was offered incentives. This year they offered me in guaranteed money, HALF of what they just gave Kiwi guaranteed. HALF,' Umenyiora wrote in an email. 'I'm not making that up.
