Jaguars | Justin Blackmon pleads guilty Thu Apr 28, 03:21 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Justin Blackmon pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor DUI charge from December in Oklahoma Thursday, April 28. He's scheduled to be sentenced June 8. It was Blackmon's third alcohol-related arrest and fourth arrest overall. He hasn't practiced or played since Week 8 of the 2013 season, and he's been suspended indefinitely since. The Jaguars believe Blackmon is unlikely to play in the NFL again.
Footballguys view: Such an absolutely shame. Blackmon is very talented but cannot get out of his own way. We hope he can find a way to get his life back on track, whether or not he ever sees a football field again. |

Jaguars | Justin Blackmon charged with DUI Mon Dec 21, 01:07 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Justin Blackmon was arrested on a DUI charge Saturday, Dec. 19, according to arrest logs from the Carter County (Oklahoma) Sheriff's Office.
Footballguys view: Blackmon is on indefinitely suspension and has been suspended three times by the NFL for violating the policy on substances of abuse. He's unlikely to ever play football at the pro level again. A waste of incredible natural talent. |

Jaguars | Justin Blackmon unlikely to return Tue Aug 4, 01:30 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars suspended WR Justin Blackmon hasn't had any contact with the team, and general manager David Caldwell said he thinks Blackmon's absence makes it unlikely he will ever play in the NFL again. Blackmon hasn't practiced or played since Week 8 of the 2013 season. He has to apply for reinstatement and go through almost a two-month long vetting process before he can return to the field. The Jaguars haven't cut Blackmon and Caldwell has said more than once that they don't plan on doing so. He's currently on the reserve/suspended list and doesn't count against the roster limit or salary cap.
Footballguys view: It's time to release Blackmon from even the deepest dynasty rosters. It was probably time months ago. |

Jaguars | Justin Blackmon likely done in JAX Fri Apr 24, 12:34 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Justin Blackmon is likely done with the Jaguars if he's reinstated into the league, in the opinion of beat writer Ryan O'Halloran.
Footballguys view: Blackmon's talent has been completely overshadowed by his off-field issues. The Jaguars appear ready to move on from him completely, especially given the rumors of Jacksonville's interest in Amari Cooper. Someone will give him a chance elsewhere if he is released, but it's time for the Jags to move on. |

Jaguars | Justin Blackmon making progress Thu Feb 5, 06:17 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Justin Blackmon is progressing, regarding his off-field issues, but still has strides to make. The NFL is in control of his situation as of now. Blackmon pleaded no contest late last year to a misdemeanor for marijuana possession, among a litany of other problems.
Footballguys view: Blackmon will need to apply for reinstatement into the league. Once the paperwork is filed, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will have 60 days to make a decision. We hope Blackmon has cleaned his life up. He's immensely talented, and adding him back to the Jaguars roster would be a huge boost for the passing game. |

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Justin Blackmon has 'paid his dues' and has 'his life together,' according to owner Shahid Khan. Khan is also 'very optimistic' Blackmon will return to the team next season.
Footballguys view: The Jaguars were originally looking at Blackmon as a longshot to return. Now, it seems like Blackmon will be able to return in 2015. He'll need to apply for reinstatement with the league, then commissioner Roger Goodell will have 60 days to make a decision. |

Jaguars | Justin Blackmon to return in 2015? Sun Jan 25, 09:13 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Justin Blackmon has overcome his issues, and plenty of league sources expect him to be back with the team in 2015.
Footballguys view: The Jaguars aren't counting on Blackmon right now, but if he can play it's a huge bonus. Like Josh Gordon, Blackmon is incredibly talented but had substance-abuse problems. If he's clean, Blackmon will be the best wide receiver on the team and give QB Blake Bortles a quality weapon to throw to. Stay tuned. |

Jaguars | Jags not counting on Justin Blackmon Tue Dec 30, 01:46 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Justin Blackmon isn't necessarily in the team's plans for next season, according to general manager David Caldwell. However, the team would like to have him on the field if he's ready, and they aren't expected to release him, either. 'I think we have to treat it as a luxury. If he comes back that's great, if he doesn't -- we can't count on it. We feel good about the three guys we've got and if he comes back that's even better,' Caldwell said.
Footballguys view: We're just hoping that Blackmon is getting his life back on track. The Jags have heard that Blackmon has dedicated himself to being healthier and returning to football. Jacksonville is under no financial obligation to keep Blackmon since he's not currently on the roster. It would be a huge boost for the offense if Blackmon was sober and back on the football field. |

Jaguars | Justin Blackmon arrested Thu Jul 24, 10:45 AM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Justin Blackmon was arrested for possession of marijuana Wednesday, July 23, in Oklahoma.
Footballguys view: The latest news about Blackmon (or lack thereof) was ominous because it indicated that he was out of touch from him teammates and otherwise his condition was unknown. His problems in the past were alcohol-based, but this is still a terrible sign. Blackmon isn't worth a redraft pick due to the very tiny chance he gets reinstated this year, and soon he might not even be worth a dynasty roster spot. |

Jaguars | Justin Blackmon staying quiet Sun Jun 22, 11:36 AM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Justin Blackmon has stayed quiet while serving his NFL suspension. "Every now and again, he will respond to my text," said Jaguars receiver Mike Brown. "We came into the NFL together and we're halfway close. But I don't get into his personal business. Whatever he has going on, I respect his space."
Footballguys view: Blackmon has amazing talent, but off field issues with alcohol have derailed his pro career. His suspension is indefinite, and the Jaguars are preparing as if he's not going to be in their plans for 2014. We hope he overcomes his demons and gets his life back on track. |

Jaguars | Would consider playing Justin Blackmon Thu Jun 5, 02:57 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars are open to taking WR Justin Blackmon back and playing him this year if the league reinstates him from his indefinite suspension, according to a source with knowledge of the team's plans.
Footballguys view: They might play him, but even if they do, will he play much? It's a nice theory, and the Jaguars need to figure out if the troubled receiver is worth keeping anyway, but ultimately there will be a lot of bodies who will be more in tune with the offense ahead of him if he were to return mid-season. |

Jaguars | Have no plans to release Justin Blackmon Tue Jun 3, 01:27 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars have no plans to release Justin Blackmon. The team is hoping for Blackmon to return whenever he is reinstated from an indefinite suspension by the NFL.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles takes over Justin Blackmon's locker Tue May 13, 12:49 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles has taken over the locker that was used by WR Justin Blackmon.
Footballguys view: We'd be surprised if Blackmon plays football this year, and apparently the Jaguars are preparing to move on without him. It's a shame because Blackmon is a talented player, but he just can't shake his demons off the field. Blackmon is indefinitely suspended by the NFL, but he can apply for reinstatement before the 2014 season. Jaguars | Stephen Burton could see more WR time Wed Nov 6, 03:16 AM
With the indefinite suspension of Jacksonville Jaguars WR Justin Blackmon, the team may turn to WR Stephen Burton to get some work. A third-year veteran acquired off waivers from Minnesota shortly before the season, he missed four games with a concussion and was inactive against the San Francisco 49ers, but the team is intrigued by Burton's size and speed and he will get opportunity in the coming weeks. Burton caught seven passes for 65 yards in the first three games of the season.
Footballguys view: Burton may see the field in three-wide sets during garbage time, which is what ignited Mike Brown. File his name away in very deep leagues. |

He may be a guy that we hold out tomorrow just to keep it calmed down.'
Footballguys view: This is more about keeping their only offensive weapon safe and less about Blackmon being truly injured. Against the Broncos he had an unreal 20 targets, 14 of which he caught for 190 yards. Don't expect that against San Diego, but he will still get plenty of both targets and yards anyway. |

Jaguars | Praise heaped on Justin Blackmon Tue Oct 1, 01:11 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley had good things to say about how WR Justin Blackmon handled his four-game suspension. 'He's done tremendous these last four weeks,' Bradley said. 'His body fat has dropped and his weight has gained. He's in really, really good shape right now. He's done everything that we've asked of him, he went on the trips with us. I could go with a list on some of the things we asked him to do that he's done, so he's a in a great frame of mind right now.' Blackmon is likely to start in Week 5 against the St. Louis Rams.
Footballguys view: We've seen several players get over maturity issues, and then turn into solid pros. That's what the Jaguars are hoping for with Blackmon. He's talented, but these off field problems have hurt his young pro career. Add him via the waiver wire this week, and hold him to see what he looks like. Last season Blackmon looked better with Chad Henne under center than he did when Blaine Gabbert was the starter. Gabbert is the start for now with the Jaguars, so we'll have to see if his chemistry with Blackmon is stronger this season. |
