Recent Game Summaries

2014 Week 1 vs PHI (24 / 43 / 266 / 2 / 0 pass, 1 / 8 / 0 rush)

Henne threw two touchdown passes early after the Jaguars defense gave the offense good field position. His touchdown passes weren't perfect, as they both forced Allen Hurns to make impressive adjustments, but they were good enough to give his receiver a chance. Despite sticking with Henne over Blake Bortles, the Jaguars didn't open up the playbook and ask him to do more in his first game of the season. The offense was still very much predicated on masking the deficiencies of its quarterback. Even in that role, he continued to be inconsistent. The Jaguars must be determined to keep Bortles on the sideline to stick with Henne as their starting quarterback.

2014 Week 2 vs WAS (14 / 28 / 193 / 1 / 1 pass, 3 / 17 / 0 rush)

There were many weeks last season when the Jacksonville Jaguars offense looked exactly like it had the previous week. Typically, that wasn't a good thing and it especially wasn't a good thing for Chad Henne. Henne was sacked a lot in this game, 10 times, but not all of those plays can be blamed on his offensive line as he struggled to manage the pocket and make quick decisions at times. Henne will feel aggrieved by a big drop from Allen Hurns early on, but this was another game to add to the growing pile that suggest Blake Bortles should be the team's starter.

Latest News

Jaguars | Chad Henne still the starter (Mon Sep 15, 01:48 PM) - Jacksonville Jaguars QB Chad Henne is still the starting quarterback for now, according to head coach Gus Bradley.

Our View: And here we see the stubbornness of Bradley. Henne is a poor starter, and he quite frankly doesn't give the team the best chance to win. Blake Bortles was drafted in the first round of the 2014 NFL draft, and he's the QB of the future. Might as well start playing him now to give him valuable experience.

Jaguars | Blake Bortles whispers begin (Mon Sep 15, 10:03 AM) - Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles was not considered to play in Week 2 as QB Chad Henne was sacked 10 times in the game. However, head coach Gus Bradley wouldn't comment on whether they will consider starting Bortles in Week 3.

Our View: What are they waiting for? Yes, we know--the team really WANTS to keep him on the bench his rookie year for, um, development purposes (?). The fact of the matter is that Henne is a poor starter, and Bortles could be gaining valuable experience this year. We'll see if the change is made in the near future.
