Giants | Jon Hilliman gets the boot    Fri Oct 11, 05:00 PM

New York Giants RB Jon Hilliman was waived Fri, Oct. 11. Free-agent RB Javorius Allen (Saints) was signed to an undisclosed contract to replace him on the roster.

Footballguys view: Allen could be set up to start against Arizona next week if Saquon Barkley isn't ready and Wayne Gallman is still in concussion protocol. Hilliman was a disaster as a starter vs the Patriots last night.

Saints | Javorius Allen placed on IR    Tue Jul 30, 12:47 PM

New Orleans Saints RBs Javorius Allen (undisclosed) was placed on the Reserve / Injured list Tuesday, July 30.

Footballguys view: This explains the team working out running backs and signing Rob Kelley. Allen won't be a factor in the backfield this year.

Saints | Three Saints backs competing    Mon Jul 8, 11:02 AM

New Orleans Saints RBs Javorius Allen, Devine Ozigbo and Matthew Dayes are challenging for a roster spot.

Footballguys view: Allen and Dayes have NFL experience (with varying degrees) and Ozigbo is the undrafted rookie out of Nebraska. Alvin Kamara is the starter with Latavius Murray as his primary backup. We think Dwayne Washington works as their No. 3 running back, likely leaving only one spot for Allen, Ozigbo and Dayes to fight over. We'll watch this battle in training camp with interest in deep dynasty formats.

Saints | Javorius Allen's spot in jeopardy?    Sun Jun 30, 10:36 PM

New Orleans Saints RB Javorius Allen isn't likely to make the 53-man roster, according to Larry Holder of The Athletic.

Footballguys view: Allen is a merely serviceable back, and with more youngsters coming into the league every year, what he offers isn't in demand. He could still matter if injuries push him into a role in a good offense, so getting this familiarity with the Saints could be important later in the season if injuries strike, even if he doesn't make the team initially.

Saints | New Orleans adds a pair of runners    Tue May 28, 04:58 PM

Free-agent RB Javorius Allen (Ravens) and Matthew Dayes (49ers) signed undisclosed contracts with the New Orleans Saints on Tuesday, May 28. The Saints waived RB A.J. Ouellette and CB Jordan Wyatt to make room for them on the roster.

Footballguys view: The Saints have added more talent to a running back room that has some interesting names behind superstar starter Alvin Kamara. Dayes is a change-of-pace back and Allen is a good receiving back as well. Latavius Murray is the most likely to win the No. 2 job behind Kamara in 2019. That makes guys like Dayes and Allen (plus Dwayne Washington, Devine Ozigbo) competing for the one of two spots behind Kamara and Murray.

Saints | New Orleans tries out three running backs    Thu May 23, 03:10 PM

Free-agent RBs Fozzy Whittaker, Rob Kelley and Javorius Allen worked out for the New Orleans Saints on Thursday, May 23.

Footballguys view: The Saints are just updating their emergency list here. They have veteran Latavius Murray as the primary backup to Alvin Kamara this year. Behind Murray, Dwayne Washington and undrafted rookie Devine Ozigbo will compete to establish a pecking order.

Ravens | Javorius Allen totals 14 touches    Sun Oct 7, 05:05 PM

Baltimore Ravens RB Javorius Allen rushed eight times for 34 yards in Week 5 against the Cleveland Browns and he added six receptions for 44 yards on eight targets.

Footballguys view: Allen has established a high weekly PPR floor with his heavy involvement in the passing game and at the goal line. He's a solid flex against the Titans next week.

Ravens | Two more touchdowns for Javorius Allen    Mon Sep 24, 12:39 AM

Baltimore Ravens RB Javorius Allen managed only seven yards on six carries and 19 yards on three catches, but he scored one rushing and one receiving touchdown in Week 3 versus the Denver Broncos.

Footballguys view: We've got a touchdown vulture with the Ravens, and his name is Buck Allen. Fantasy GMs should look at him as a deep flex or 'what the heck' flex option in games the Ravens can control.

Ravens | Javorius Allen splits snaps    Fri Sep 14, 09:40 AM

Baltimore Ravens RB Javorius Allen played 42 snaps for 49 percent of the offense in Week 2.

Footballguys view: Allen will have games like this when the Ravens have to pass 50+ times. Alex Collins will still be the more favored backs when the Ravens nurse a lead as long as it isn't an insta-blowout like Week 1 against Buffalo.

Ravens | Javorius Allen finds paydirt    Thu Sep 13, 11:53 PM

Baltimore Ravens RB Javorius Allen rushed six times for eight yards and a touchdown Thursday, Sept. 13, at the Cincinnati Bengals. He hauled in five passes for 36 yards.

Footballguys view: Allen has a goal line role and a passing game role, and that's enough to make him an RB2 in PPR leagues. He's also got Alex Collins injury upside.

Baltimore Ravens RB Javorius Allen ran four times for 17 yards and a touchdown in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills and he added five receptions for 15 yards on six targets.

Footballguys view: Allen is going to be a cheap PPR play and he still has Alex Collins injury upside. He is rosterable across all formats.

Ravens | Week 17 game recap for Ravens    Sun Dec 31, 08:19 PM

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco completed 25-of-47 pass attempts for 203 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the Week 17 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. RB Alex Collins ran 20 times for 78 yards and a score while adding 18 yards on two receptions. RB Javorius Allen tacked on 37 rushing yards on five attempts. TE Benjamin Watson had a team-high 61 yards on seven grabs. WR Mike Wallace was targeted a game-high 13 times, finishing with five catches, 40 yards and a TD. WR Michael Campanaro was good for three receptions and 36 yards.

Footballguys view: A late defensive breakdown on 4th and 12 cost the Ravens a playoff spot. Collins established himself as the lead back in the second half of the year, but the passing game had to strive to be mediocre this year. The Ravens are in an unfamiliar place in the Flacco era, eliminated before the playoff begin.

Ravens | Javorius Allen rushes for 70 yards    Sun Dec 17, 05:13 PM

Baltimore Ravens RB Javorius Allen rushed for 70 yards on 13 carries against the Cleveland Browns in Week 15.

Ravens | Javorius Allen used frequently    Fri Oct 27, 01:14 AM

Baltimore Ravens RB Javorius Allen carried the ball 17 times for 55 yards in Week 8 against the Miami Dolphins.

Footballguys view: Allen is basically just a third-down back now, but the blowout game script gave him an extended opportunity as a runner in the second half. He was as lackluster as ever and should only be held as bench depth, and more suitable in PPR leagues.

Ravens | Javorius Allen catches eight passes    Sun Oct 22, 04:39 PM

Baltimore Ravens RB Javorius Allen caught eight passes for 29 yards against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 7. He also rushed for 20 yards on six carries during the game.

Footballguys view: Allen is generating some PPR value when the Ravens are playing from behind, and value across formats when their defense controls the game, but he is still too inconsistent to trust as a more than a flex heading into a matchup with Miami.

Baltimore Ravens RB Javorius Allen rushed 14 times for a game-high 66 yards in Week 2 against the Browns and he added five receptions for 35 yards and a touchdown.

Footballguys view: Allen was mostly ineffective as a runner, but a quality receiver and he had a good run in the two-minute drill. He'll be an RB2 consideration against a solid Jaguars defense next week.

Ravens | Javorius Allen must be decisive     Sun May 28, 11:10 PM

Baltimore Ravens RB Javorius Allen has been told he needs to be more decisive when running the ball and needs to hit the hole harder.

Footballguys view: Allen only made an appearance in eight games last year, and he was a healthy scratch for the Ravens down the stretch. The team went out and added veteran RB Danny Woodhead in free agency, so Allen is not guaranteed a spot on the 53-man roster. He may be safe for a bit as Kenneth Dixon is suspended the first four games of the 2017 season.

Footballguys view: Allen is a small surprise as the Ravens will go with just two backs - Justin Forsett and Terrance West. When Kenneth Dixon is healthy, it's safe to assume he will pass Allen on the depth chart. Allen isn't worth carrying in redraft leagues.

Ravens | Baltimore confirms RB committee     Fri Sep 9, 12:55 AM

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett, RB Terrance West and RB Javorius Allen will all see playing time at some point against the Buffalo Bills in Week 1, offensive coordinator Marc Trestman said Thursday, Sept. 8.

Footballguys view: And when Kenneth Dixon returns, he will also figure into this mess for fantasy football. If you have to play a Ravens back on Sunday, the answer is probably Forsett, but that answer could easily change once Dixon returns from his minor knee injury.

Ravens | Baltimore set for committee backfield?    Wed Aug 24, 01:23 PM

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett is still in line to be the starting running back, in the opinion of ESPN's Jamison Hensley, but RBs Javorius Allen and Kenneth Dixon project to share third-down work with RB Terrance West serving as a short-yardage back in the red zone.

Ravens | Justin Forsett expects to be bell cow    Wed Jul 27, 10:01 PM

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett expects to hang onto the starting job and do the bulk of the work at the running back position ahead of RBs Javorius Allen, Kenneth Dixon, Lorenzo Taliaferro and Terrance West. The team also has RB Trent Richardson (knee) competing for a roster spot. While Forsett might be optimistic, he is 31 and the team is leaning toward reducing his carries.

Footballguys view: Forsett seems to have recovered from his broken arm, but that age is a concern to some. The veteran back has low mileage on his body as he didn't start getting a large workload in the pros until a couple of years ago. As the Ravens will reduce his carries a little we expect him to be more of an RB3 than the RB2 he might be if he got 20-25 carries every game.

Ravens | Justin Forsett the lead back    Tue Jul 12, 05:33 PM

Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett is still the 'clear lead dog' in the Ravens' backfield, according to Ryan Mink of baltimoreravens.com. The starting job is Forsett's to lose, with RBs Javorius Allen, Kenneth Dixon, Lorenzo Taliaferro, Terrance West and Trent Richardson lurking behind him.

Footballguys view: He's the lead dog and a fine all-purpose back--when healthy. Forsett missed the final six games of the 2015 season with a broken forearm, but he's back healthy and ready to lead this team on the ground. The veteran back is a good receiving back as well, so there's no need for him to come off the field unless he needs a breather. Fantasy owners are cool on his prospects for this year as Forsett has a current ADP of RB32 (7.10) in 12-team PPR leagues. There's a chance Forsett could catch 70 passes and finish the season as a top-15 fantasy RB, so get him at a value while you can.

Ravens | Three BAL RBs up for just one spot?    Wed Jun 15, 01:00 AM

Baltimore Ravens RB Lorenzo Taliaferro might be competing with RB Terrance West and RB Trent Richardson for the No. 4 spot on the depth chart behind RBs Justin Forsett, Javorius Allen and Kenneth Dixon.

Footballguys view: We think Taliaferro will be fine, as West hasn't impressed so far in his career and Trent Richardson is Trent Richardson. No matter what, this isn't the relevant part of the backfield battle. Forsett and Allen holding off Dixon is the part you want to watch. We lean towards Forsett, but Dixon isn't far behind. No matter what, right now there is little clarity and if you have to draft today, we'd say none of them are better than an RB4 because of it, though we expect Forsett or Dixon to take the lead and then put up RB3 numbers at the very worst.

Baltimore Ravens RB Javorius Allen carried 18 times for 79 yards and a touchdown and had five catches for 35 yards in a 20-17 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 16.

Footballguys view: Allen bounced back after a fumble problem last week and greatly rewarded anyone who took a chance on him. He'll be a flex play against Cincinnati next week.

Ravens | Javorius Allen benched in Week 15    Mon Dec 21, 06:46 PM

Baltimore Ravens RB Javorius Allen was benched during the team's Week 15 game after he fumbled the ball in the first quarter of the game. It was his second fumble in his last seven touches. Head coach John Harbaugh said Allen's benching likely will not carry over to the Week 16 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Footballguys view: Allen has to take care of the rock if he wants to continue as the team's lead back. With Allen benched, the Ravens turned to Terrance West as their primary back. West only had 35 yards rushing on seven carries against the Chiefs in Week 15.

Baltimore Ravens RB Javorius Allen finished with eight carries for 14 yards and five catches for 44 yards in a 35-6 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 14. He also lost a fumble.

Footballguys view: Allen withered with the Ravens offense mostly shut down on the ground. His receiving ability is keeping him going in PPR leagues, and that's his owners will have to rely on against the Chiefs next week.

Ravens | Buck Allen goes wild in win    Mon Dec 7, 01:59 AM

Baltimore Ravens RB Javorius Allen carries 17 times for 63 yards in the Week 13 game against the Miami Dolphins, and he added team-highs with 12 receptions, 107 yards and a touchdown with 13 targets in the win. His 12 catches were one shy of a club record.

Footballguys view: With Matt Schaub at quarterback, we should see plenty of Allen as a receiver out of the backfield going forward. That makes him a borderline RB1 due to opportunity and the fact he's non-gamescript dependent.

Ravens | Big week for Javorius Allen coming    Thu Nov 26, 01:13 AM

Baltimore Ravens RB Javorius Allen will make the start in Week 12 against the Cleveland Browns Monday, Nov. 30, with RB Justin Forsett (arm) sidelined. He will face the league's worst rushing defense, as the Browns allow 138.8 yards per game with 11 runs of 20 or more yards, second-highest in the NFL.

Footballguys view: With Justin Forsett done for the season, Allen will get the bulk of the carries unless he struggles. Against the Cleveland Browns, he should be a decent RB2 play and we like him as an under-owned option in daily fantasy. Keep in mind that the risk here is the guy under center. If Matt Schaub struggles and turns the ball over--as he does--the offense might not be on the field much and then neither will Allen.
