Week 11: vs Cincinnati Bengals

All WR vs CIN

FBG says: Good matchup. Joe Flacco's status for Sunday remains unclear, but he seems fairly doubtful, which would likely thrust rookie Lamar Jackson under center. And while that would add a new element to the Ravens' ground game, it would almost certainly ding the fantasy outlooks of the passing group. Jackson is electric to watch, but completed barely half his preseason throws against second and third teams. He's exceptionally raw in his fundamentals and throws, strong-armed but scattershot and new to diagnosing defenses. He's compared often to Michael Vick and Vince Young, but both arguably came into the NFL with much better mechanics. One could make a case that deep threat John Brown and possession man Michael Crabtree could keep safe outlooks, but they'd miss Flacco's relative accuracy. If Jackson starts, the Ravens will almost certainly go with a run-heavy offense, hiding his rawness with the running game and a few tricky play-action throws. There is still a chance that based on what the coaches know that the team could trot Robert Griffin III out there this week as time is running out quickly this season for the Ravens. If Griffin were to start, it would mean he's the better quarterback at this time as John Harbaugh doesn't have time to put a quarterback who is not ready on the field as reports indicate he's fighting for his job. This Cincinnati pass defense has sunk near the NFL's bottom - they can see the Buccaneers and Falcons from here - and have fired defensive coordinator Teryl Austin. (Head coach Marvin Lewis will take his place for at least the time being.) It makes sense, as no team has given up more raw passing yardage, and 5 opposing passers have topped 319 against them. Last week Drew Brees, who racked up "only" 265 yards in a 30-point Saints win, completed 22 of his 25 throws and 3 relatively easy touchdowns. It's hard to imagine what he could've produced had the Bengals put up any kind of fight. Michael Thomas, who caught all eight of his targets and two scores, became the 15th player to top 67 yards against them. The week before, Tampa Bay's wideouts combined for 360 of their own. Simply put, the Bengals can't cover anyone right now, especially down the field. Lead cornerbacks William Jackson and Dre Kirkpatrick are more liability than benefit, and their jobs are made harder by a talented front line that's not creating any pressure right now. If Joe Flacco can suit up, fantasy players are free to ride this wave with any and all relevant Ravens receivers.
