Former Missouri QB and 2019 NFL Draft prospect Drew Lock met with the Miami Dolphins for dinner and board work Wednesday, March 20, and will do the same with the New York Giants on Thursday, March 21.

Bills | Ziggy Ansah in touch with Buffalo    Thu Mar 21, 01:02 PM

Free-agent DE Ziggy Ansah (Lions) remains a possibility for the Buffalo Bills , who recently hosted Ansah on a visit. 'We had a great visit with Ziggy, and he's a great young man,' Bills general manager Brandon Beane said Thursday, March 21 in a radio interview. 'He had a tough shoulder injury last year, and he's still rehabbing that. I know he went on a couple other visits, or at least one other that I'm aware of. We had great talks with him and his agent. It's kind of just at a standstill right now, but it doesn't mean it will or it won't happen. We'll see going forward, and we'll stay in touch with him and his representatives.'

Patriots | Will Grier expected to meet with N.E.    Thu Mar 21, 12:22 PM

Former West Virginia QB and 2019 NFL Draft prospect Will Grier is expected to have a pre-draft visit with the New England Patriots, but one team beat reporter says he's be surprised if the Patriots used an early-round pick on him.

Footballguys view: Grier is seen as a second-round pick but he could sneak into the late first round of the 2019 NFL draft. The Patriots have the 32nd overall pick in the first round and could take Grier with the last pick on the first day of the draft to groom him as the heir apparent to Tom Brady.

NFL | Will Grier impresses    Thu Mar 21, 11:44 AM

West Virginia QB Will Grier put on a show at his pro day and is rising up draft boards, according to a source. He's expected to meet with at least 10 teams before the draft, which include the New York Giants, Washington Redskins, Los Angeles Chargers, New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints.

Footballguys view: Grier is seen as a 'riser' in the 2019 NFL draft. He's currently seen as a second-round pick but he could sneak into the late first round of the 2019 NFL draft. Grier reminds some in the scouting community of Andy Dalton coming out of TCU. He's accurate on short-to-intermediate throws and is not afraid to stay in the pocket to take a shot downfield.

Free-agent TE Jared Cook (Raiders) is expected to sign with the New Orleans Saints Thursday, March 21.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Peyton Barber said in a radio interview Wednesday, March 20 that he has a lot to prove. 'I want to break 1,000 yards and prove I'm an every down running back,' Barber said.

Footballguys view: Barber had a career-high 871 rushing yards in 2018 as the Bucs lead back. They re-signed him to a one-year, $2.1 million contract earlier this month. Barber will have competition for touches from second-year pro Ronald Jones. We'll see if Jones can be more productive than he was as a rookie and seriously impact the value of Barber in 2019.

Free-agent RB Jay Ajayi (Eagles) had a good visit with the Indianapolis Colts Wednesday, March 20, and the sides will continue their dialogue. A signing is not imminent, but not out of the question.

Footballguys view: We'll see where this goes. Ajayi is looking for another fresh start on the open market. The Colts have a nice group of running backs with guys like Marlon Mack, Jordan Wilkins and Nyheim Hines...but clearly they are looking for more depth at the position.

Notre Dame DT Jerry Tillery (shoulder) was not able to participate at Notre Dame's pro day as he is recovering from recent shoulder surgery. He did perform well at the NFL Combine, however.

Footballguys view: Tillery measured in at 6'6" 295 pounds and ran a 4.93 40-yard dash. He's pretty much locked in as a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft and should become an instant starter in the pros. The expectation is that Tillery will be recovered in time for training camp.

Free-agent QB Trevor Siemian (Vikings) is signing a one-year deal with the New York Jets Wednesday, March 20. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: The Jets have second-year quarterback Sam Darnold as their starter but they needed to find a veteran backup. That's what Siemian is best at, even though he did get a chance to be a starter with the Broncos in the past. Siemian is not a threat to start but things wouldn't go off the rails if he has to step in and play.

Broncos | Denver will host Drew Lock    Wed Mar 20, 03:35 PM

Former Missouri QB Drew Lock has a pre-draft visit scheduled with the Denver Broncos, according to a source.

Footballguys view: The Broncos have been linked to Lock dating back to the college football season when GM John Elway traveled to see him play. Lock is tall, athletic and has a big arm....sounds just like an Elway quarterback. They missed on first-round bust Paxton Lynch in the 2016 NFL draft, but Elway won't hesitate to draft another quarterback in the top round if he falls in love with a prospect. Lock has also been linked to the Oakland Raiders.

Seahawks | More surgery for Doug Baldwin    Wed Mar 20, 03:27 PM

Seattle Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin (hernia) said he will have more surgeries this offseason to fix what is believed to be a sports hernia. Surgery is scheduled for early April, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Baldwin's production was held back by multiple nagging injuries in 2018. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll revealed Baldwin underwent knee and shoulder surgeries after the season. This makes another surgery for the veteran receiver. He'll miss all of the offseason work for the Seahawks and should be eased into training camp at some point in the summer.

Bears | One-year deal for Tyler Bray    Wed Mar 20, 01:54 PM

Free-agent QB Tyler Bray (Bears) was re-signed to a one-year deal by the Chicago Bears Wednesday, March 20. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Bray has experience working under Bears head coach Matt Nagy from their time together with the Chiefs. He's got a big arm but is likely to just be a camp arm for the Bears in 2019. Chase Daniel is under contract for one more year with the Bears ($6 million cap hit) and is the primary backup to Mitchell Trubisky.

NFL | T.J. Linta gaining steam    Wed Mar 20, 01:23 PM

Former Wagner QB T.J. Linta reportedly impressed scouts at his pro day recently. At 6-foot-4, Linta has shown off a strong arm, intelligence and decision making. Former NFL coordinator Chris Palmer said Linta clearly displayed a pro-level arm. Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports posits that Linta may be a late-round draft pick or a sought after undrafted free agent.

Footballguys view: Linta was a graduate transfer (Brown) in 2018 and in nine games he threw for 1,481 yards with 13 touchdowns and four interceptions. He gets rid of the ball quickly and does a good job of leading his receivers downfield. Linta is likely to go undrafted but we'll monitor his progress in crazy deep dynasty leagues.

Redskins | Washington targeting Dwayne Haskins?    Wed Mar 20, 01:16 PM

Former Ohio State QB Dwayne Haskins could be the subject of a draft trade between the Washington Redskins and New York Jets. Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports believes the Redskins would be willing to make such a trade to fill a need at quarterback, although Washington did just trade for QB Case Keenum.

Footballguys view: The Jets have the no.3 overall pick but it's rumored to be up for grabs. Washington has Keenum and Colt McCoy to compete for the starting job in 2019. Perhaps they'd be interested in moving up to get Haskins. Most mock drafts have Haskins going off the board to the Giants with the 6th overall pick.

Ohio State DE Nick Bosa will have dinner with the San Francisco 49ers after his pro day, which he is standing pat with the results from the NFL Scouting Combine.

Footballguys view: Rumors are out there that the 49ers absolutely love Bosa. They have the no.2 overall pick but Bosa may go first off the board to the Arizona Cardinals. We'll see if the 49ers want to move up for him.

Updating previous reports, Los Angeles Rams QB Blake Bortles received a one-year, $1 million deal from the Rams, which will be subtracted from the $6.5 million the Jacksonville Jaguars owe him.

Footballguys view: Bortles gets a fresh start with Sean McVay and the Rams. He's the backup to Jared Goff and won't see any playing time unless Goff is injured. We'll see if Bortles can play better with a better offensive coach to learn from.

Jaguars | Leonard Fournette still has support of team    Wed Mar 20, 02:55 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette has and will continue to work out with new University of Wyoming director of sports performance Ben Iannacchione, who spent six of the past seven seasons working in the strength and conditioning program at LSU - Fournette's alma mater. Fournette also spoke with executive vice president of football operations Tom Coughlin, who still has 'full confidence' in the player he selected No. 4 overall in 2017.'With Leonard, a prepared Leonard coming into camp with a mindset that he discussed and we talked about ... I have full confidence in him. He does have some things he's got to prove when he comes back about his preparation, but he's a young, young player, he loves football, had an outstanding year, had a very disappointing year, and I think he wants to - we want him to be a great player and I think he's in the same mindset,' Coughlin said.

Footballguys view: Fournette has the talent but he's got to stay healthy if he wants to play up to his potential. The Jaguars upgraded the quarterback position with free agent Nick Foles, and that should help lighten the defensive fronts that Fournette has been used to seeing. He has yet to average more than 3.9 yards per carry in a season and has not played a full 16-game season.
