Cardinals | Carson Palmer stronger Sat Aug 1, 03:54 PM
Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer has supposedly improved his arm strength since last season. Palmer is much healthier overall, as well, including his knee and shoulder.
|Footballguys view: This should be expected from the veteran quarterback. If his shoulder and knee can hold up, Palmer should be able to lead the Cardinals to the playoffs. Fantasy owners should consider Palmer a QB2 and occasional starter.|

Ravens | Breshad Perriman day-to-day Sat Aug 1, 03:23 PM
Baltimore Ravens WR Breshad Perriman (knee) is considered day-to-day with a bruised knee. Perriman has missed two practices in a row because of the injury.
|Footballguys view: The rookie is talented but raw. The Ravens need to ease him along as he deals with this knee problem. The more reps he can get on the field the better as Perriman knows how to get open deep, but he's not a refined route-runner. Perriman should one day be a starter on the outside, but he may begin this season as a reserve for the Ravens.|

Ravens | Elvis Dumervil update Sat Aug 1, 02:39 PM
Updating a previous report, Baltimore Ravens LB Elvis Dumervil (knee) missed his second consecutive practice Saturday, Aug. 1, because of knee tendinitis.
|Footballguys view: Dumervil is a seasoned veteran, so it's not like he needs a ton of reps in the preseason. We'll see if he can bounce back soon from this knee problem.|

Broncos | Kyle Williams injured Sat Aug 1, 02:15 PM
Denver Broncos WR Kyle Williams (Achilles') suffered at least a partially torn Achilles' tendon in practice Saturday, Aug. 1, according to a source. He may be out for the season.

Chargers | Melvin Gordon struggling with protection Sat Aug 1, 02:08 PM
San Diego Chargers RB Melvin Gordon has struggled with pass protection through the first three days of training camp.
|Footballguys view: The rookie has fantastic talent as a runner, and he often draws comparisons to Jamaal Charles because of his speed and agility. Gordon can make plays in space as a receiver too. The rookie has to protect the quarterback or he's not going to see the field much. We should see improvements from him as training camp goes on.|

49ers | Colin Kaepernick improving throws Sat Aug 1, 01:51 PM
San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick has impressed his teammates this offseason by improving the touch on his passes. FS Eric Reid said he's optimistic about how Kaepernick will do this year, especially with the touch he's seen on deep throws.
|Footballguys view: If Kaepernick wants to take the next step as a pro quarterback, he's got to get better as a passer. We're glad that Reid is impressed, but we'll believe it when we see it--especially under pressure. With so many losses on both sides of the ball, the 49ers offense isn't one we're investing a lot in.|

Browns | Terrance West hurts calf Sat Aug 1, 01:30 PM
Cleveland Browns RB Terrance West (calf) injured his calf during practice Saturday, Aug. 1. He was evaluated afterwards and the injury is not serious.
|Footballguys view: West joined rookie Duke Johnson and second-year back Glenn Winston on the sidelines, giving journeyman Shaun Draughn a chance to earn some praise from the coaches. West is fighting with Johnson and Crowell for playing time in a backfield that should be the most efficient part of the Browns offense.|

Browns | Duke Johnson injures hamstring Sat Aug 1, 01:25 PM
Cleveland Browns RB Duke Johnson (hamstring) hurt his hamstring in practice Saturday, Aug. 1. He was evaluated afterwards and the injury is not serious.
|Footballguys view: Terrance West also had a minor calf injury, leaving Isaiah Crowell as the last top three back standing. The Browns offensive line is one of the best run-blocking units in the league, but it's not clear yet which Browns back will benefit the most.|

Falcons | Tevin Coleman practices as starter Sat Aug 1, 01:14 PM
Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman received first-team repetitions in practice Saturday, Aug. 1.
|Footballguys view: The Atlanta backfield competition will be one of the biggest fantasy stories of the summer. Both Coleman and 2014 fourth-round pick Devonta Freeman will play large roles, but the back with the upper hand will have weekly RB2 potential and be worth more in drafts. Right now Coleman is usually going 2-3 rounds ahead of Freeman on rookie promise.|
Tevin Coleman player page
Bills | EJ Manuel working with starters Sat Aug 1, 10:54 AM
Buffalo Bills QB EJ Manuel is working with the first-team offense during practice Saturday, Aug. 1.
|Footballguys view: Manuel was the team's first-round pick in the 2013 NFL draft, but injuries and inconsistencies have prevented him from showing much as a pro. He's competing with Matt Cassel and Tyrod Taylor for the starting job in Buffalo this year. Watching this battle is not relevant for fantasy owners--unless you play in a deep league--and unless Taylor wins the job. A scrambling quarterback can be a valuable fantasy asset, and Taylor is one of the most athletic quarterbacks in the league.|

Jets | Devin Smith out 4-6 weeks Sat Aug 1, 10:53 AM
New York Jets WR Devin Smith (ribs) will be sidelined for four to six weeks because of his broken ribs, and his status for Week 1 is uncertain at this point.
|Footballguys view: Bad news for the rookie here. Smith is speedy and can take the top off a defense, but he also has a history of getting banged up. We'll see if he's put on the PUP list to begin the year depending on how his recovery goes.|

Packers | Andrew Quarless joins team Sat Aug 1, 10:15 AM
Green Bay Packers TE Andrew Quarless is participating in practice Saturday, Aug. 1, after missing the first two practices of training camp because of a family issue.
|Footballguys view: Quarless is going to compete with Richard Rodgers for the starting tight end job. We've got Rodgers winning that battle, so fantasy owners don't have to monitor Quarless unless you play in deep dynasty leagues.|
Andrew Quarless player page
Patriots | LeGarrette Blount practicing Sat Aug 1, 10:10 AM
New England Patriots RB LeGarrette Blount (undisclosed) is participating in practice Saturday, Aug. 1.
|Footballguys view: Blount is going to miss the first game of the season due to a suspension. After that, he'll be the Patriots hammer on the ground. Blount is going to split time with a receiving back like James White this year. That part-time role puts him as a high-end RB3 with upside for fantasy owners.|

49ers | NaVorro Bowman will practice Sat Aug 1, 10:07 AM
San Francisco 49ers LB NaVorro Bowman (knee) passed his conditioning test Friday, July 31, and will be able to participate in practice Aug. 1. Bowman will wear a brace during practice to protect his surgically repaired knee.
|Footballguys view: Bowman missed all of the 2014 season due to multiple knee problems, so the team will have to be incredibly cautious with him as he returns to the field this year. He's wearing a bulky brace, and earlier reports indicate that the knee is inconsistent in how it feels. It would be a shock to see him return to All-Pro form his first year back.|

49ers | Daniel Kilgore to miss some time Sat Aug 1, 10:06 AM
San Francisco 49ers C Daniel Kilgore (ankle) will miss at least the first half of training camp because he underwent ankle surgery in June.
|Footballguys view: Kilgore has been banged up quite a bit over the last year. He broke his left leg in Week 7 last year, and now this ankle problem which required surgery.|
Raiders | Latavius Murray ready to prove himself Fri Jul 31, 10:19 PM
Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray said he understands how important it is for him to perform well in 2015. 'I know the success I've had doesn't matter,' Murray said Friday, July 31. 'What matters now is what I [do going] forward and what I do this upcoming season, this upcoming training camp. Again, do anything I can just to get better and help the team.'
|Footballguys view: Murray has the ability to be a quality starter for the Raiders this year. He's big, powerful and Murray has the speed to score from long distances. We see him as a RB2 with upside for fantasy owners. His current ADP is RB21 (4.08) in 12-team PPR leagues.|

Bills | Percy Harvin to work at CB Fri Jul 31, 10:01 PM
Buffalo Bills WR Percy Harvin has asked head coach Rex Ryan to play cornerback, and Ryan said he is open to the idea and will let Harvin line up at cornerback from 'time to time' as an experiment.
|Footballguys view: Usually it's the other way around. Harvin won't have a huge role on a run-heavy offense in Buffalo. By lining up at corner, Harvin will see the field more.|

Browns | Vince Mayle catching up Fri Jul 31, 09:45 PM
Cleveland Browns (thumb) has taken part in two full practice sessions after being sidelined in the spring because of surgery to repair his thumb. 'The first day wasn't what I would have liked it to be,' Mayle said Friday, July 31. 'But I am willing to improve off of that. The second day was better. I was more confident in myself and playing like I was in college.'
|Footballguys view: We'll see if Mayle can make an eventual impact with the Browns. The rookie from Washington State was a fourth-round pick earlier this year. A former basketball player, Mayle is raw at the wide receiver position. He's worth monitoring in dynasty leagues.|

Browns | Marlon Moore could make roster Fri Jul 31, 09:37 PM
Cleveland Browns WR Marlon Moore was activated from the Non-Football Injury list Friday, July 31, and he could make the team because of his value on special teams.
|Footballguys view: Moore is mostly a return man and special teams player. If he makes the team, it will be because of those skills.|

Browns | Taylor Gabriel praised by fellow WR Fri Jul 31, 09:32 PM
Cleveland Browns WR Dwayne Bowe said WR Taylor Gabriel 'is going to be a top receiver in the NFL,' during training camp Friday, July 31.
|Footballguys view: Gabriel is really interesting to monitor. He's tiny (5'8" 176 pounds), but Gabriel can flat out fly. Gabriel will be the deep threat for the Browns this year.|

Jets | Devin Smith suffers broken ribs Fri Jul 31, 09:28 PM
New York Jets WR Devin Smith (ribs) will miss a majority of training camp after suffering broken ribs Friday, July 31, according to the team. He will be held at a hospital overnight for observation.
|Footballguys view: Ouch. Bad news for the rookie trying to make an impression. It's also bad news for a guy who had a history of getting banged up. Rib injuries come with a lot of pain, and they can also have a lengthy recovery.|

Browns | Josh McCown impressive at camp Fri Jul 31, 09:20 PM
Cleveland Browns QB Josh McCown hit receivers in stride and dropped in two deep crossing routes over the coverage during training camp Friday, July 31, and WR Dwayne Bowe said McCown is showing 'all the potential of being a top five quarterback in the NFL.'
|Footballguys view: McCown is as impressive as he can be. The Browns don't have a dangerous passing attack, but McCown will be serviceable. If he struggles, the team could turn to second-year quarterback Johnny Manziel.|

Cowboys | Tony Romo likely to sit Wednesday Fri Jul 31, 08:39 PM
Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo did not participate in practice on Wednesdays last season and likely will sit out those practices again during the regular season this year.
|Footballguys view: Same as it ever was.|

Cowboys | Joseph Randle top choice for RB job Fri Jul 31, 08:30 PM
Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle is the leading candidate for the starting running back job at this point. The team like Randle's vision and explosiveness and expect big things from him this season.
|Footballguys view: Darren McFadden is already banged up (hamstring), so Randle is the leading guy and should stay that way. Behind that incredible offensive line, Randle could produce like a steady RB2 for fantasy owners this year.|
Joseph Randle player page
Dolphins | Jay Ajayi briefly leaves practice Fri Jul 31, 08:29 PM
Updating a previous report, Miami Dolphins RB Jay Ajayi (arm) was able to return to practice Friday, July 31, after briefly leaving because of an arm cramp. Ajayi showed good burst during drills when he was on the field.
|Footballguys view: Ajayi is an intriguing rookie to pick up. He'll begin the season as a backup behind Lamar Miller, but he has the ability to start (and produce at a high level) if needed. Ajayi is a powerful runner and he's a good receiver out of the backfield. Fantasy owners will have to wait with Ajayi, but that patience could pay off.|

Redskins | Robert Griffin perfect Friday Fri Jul 31, 08:06 PM
Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III did not throw an incompletion during team drills Friday, July 31. Griffin appears to be going through his progressions and throwing to secondary targets during some the snaps.
|Footballguys view: Better news for Griffin here. He opened up camp with a bad performance, but he had a bounce-back day on Friday. We'll see if he can perform at a high level when starting in the preseason.|

Broncos | Brandon Marshall making progress Fri Jul 31, 07:37 PM
Denver Broncos LB Brandon M. Marshall (foot) said his injured foot is around 90% at this point. Marshall has shown improvement since he worked with the rookies Monday, July 27.
|Footballguys view: Marshall should be a tackling machine for the Broncos this year so long as he's healthy. He's starting as the team's "Sam" (strong-side inside) linebacker.|

Redskins | Bashaud Breeland out 6-8 weeks Fri Jul 31, 07:32 PM
Washington Redskins CB Bashaud Breeland (knee) is expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks because of a knee injury he suffered during practice Friday, July 31.

Seahawks | Paul Richardson placed on PUP list Fri Jul 31, 07:13 PM
Seattle Seahawks WR Paul Richardson (undisclosed) was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list Friday, July 31.
|Footballguys view: We love Richardson's natural ability, but he may never be the same after this knee injury. Richardson injured his knee twice in college at Colorado. He may lose explosiveness after his recovery, and that's a big part of his game.|

Raiders | Trent Richardson placed on NFI list Fri Jul 31, 06:37 PM
Oakland Raiders RB Trent Richardson (undisclosed) was placed on the Active/Non-Football Injury list Friday, July 31.
|Footballguys view: Richardson probably failed a conditioning test. He's squarely on the roster bubble, and he's also easily behind Latavius Murray and Roy Helu on the depth chart.|
Seahawks | Kam Chancellor does not report Fri Jul 31, 06:35 PM
Seattle Seahawks SS Kam Chancellor was placed on the Reserve/Did Not Report list Friday, July 31.
|Footballguys view: Well, it seems to be an official holdout now for Chancellor. The veteran safety may want a bump in pay, but he's facing $30,000 per day fine for missing camp.|

Ravens | Maxx Williams performs well Friday Fri Jul 31, 04:46 PM
Baltimore Ravens TE Maxx Williams ran sharp routes and showed strong hands during practice Friday, July 31. He was also targeted often in short yardage situations during team drills.
|Footballguys view: Rookie tight ends take some time to make an impact in the NFL. We love Williams' upside as a player, and his skill set is reminiscent of a young Jason Witten. This season, Williams will work to prove himself but we'll likely see Crockett Gillmore as the team's starter to begin the year.|
