San Diego Chargers head coach Mike McCoy said he would not be surprised if offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt is a candidate for some head coaching positions this offseason. 'When you have good coaches on your staff and you do good things, there's going to be opportunities for people. That's something you explore, getting in the business. It's all part of it. But he's an outstanding coach. We're lucky to have him. It wouldn't surprise me at all,' McCoy said.
|Footballguys view: The transformation of the Chargers offense has been stunning with Whisenhunt calling the shots. He could be a good pairing with a highly-drafting rookie quarterback.|

Ravens | Dennis Pitta activated Sat Dec 7, 04:09 PM
The Baltimore Ravens activated TE Dennis Pitta (hip) from Injured Reserve.
|Footballguys view: Great news for the Ravens here. Pitta is a favorite target of Joe Flacco and will help boost the passing game. With Pitta back the ball will be distributed differently. This could be mean fewer targets for a guy like Jacoby Jones. With Pitta back it could open up downfield coverage on Torrey Smith.|

Texans | Lovie Smith expected to a HC candidate Sat Dec 7, 01:00 PM

It will be best for the whole process to keep it confidential as to who we actually decide to visit with as we go forward.'
|Footballguys view: There are plenty of coaches who take a year off after being fired before getting back on the sidelines. Smith is a quality coach who should most certainly get a head coaching gig for 2014.|

Green Bay Packers OG T.J. Lang likely will start at center Week 14 if C Evan Dietrich-Smith (knee) is not able to play.

Miami Dolphins CB Dimitri Patterson (groin) will be a game-time decision for the team's Week 14 game.

Miami Dolphins RB Daniel Thomas (ankle) is not expected to play in the team's Week 14 game. He is listed as questionable for the game.

Packers | Randall Cobb frustrated Sat Dec 7, 10:38 AM
Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb (leg) said he is frustrated by not being cleared, something he hoped would have happened by now. 'I thought I was going to be cleared to run two weeks ago, and I still haven't been,' Cobb said.
|Footballguys view: We get it. Fantasy owners are frustrated with his injury too. The Packers are incredibly conservative with how they deal with injuries. They won't rush Cobb back too soon. Fantasy owners should have already had another plan in place. We may not see Cobb the rest of the year.|

Ravens | Matt Elam gets praise Sat Dec 7, 10:14 AM
Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh praised S Matt Elam. "He has really limited the mistakes as of late," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said of Elam. "He's in much better position, but he plays fast. He's a good tackler and really flies around."
|Footballguys view: Elam was known as a big hitter when he came out of Florida this year. However, he would often get out of position or overrun plays looking for the big hit. It's good to see the rookie playing with better discipline in recent weeks.|

Titans | Ryan Fitzpatrick won't wear glove Sat Dec 7, 10:14 AM
Tennessee Titans QB Ryan Fitzpatrick said he will not wear a glove in the team's Week 14 game. "I messed around with it a little bit and just didn't like it. I don't feel the need for me, but other guys like it," Fitzpatrick said. "Usually you have the hand warmer (around the waist) with the stuff in there that keeps it warmer or warm enough. Sometimes you end up making the huddle a little extra tighter just so everybody can get that body warmth in there."
|Footballguys view: Good luck with that. Denver has been frozen this week with Arctic temperatures near zero degrees. However, it's going to warm up and be a balmy 20 degrees at kickoff on Sunday.|

Texans | Jon Gruden could be coaching candidate Sat Dec 7, 09:19 AM
The Houston Texans may be interested in Jon Gruden (Buccaneers) as a head coaching candidate. The team may also show interest in San Diego Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt, Lovie Smith (Bears) and Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan.
|Footballguys view: Gruden is always going to be on the top of the list for coaching openings across the league. The combination of a new head coach, and the number one overall pick (likely a quarterback like Teddy Bridgewater) could help the Texans get back on the right track.|
Colts | Not giving up on Trent Richardson Sat Dec 7, 02:54 AM
Despite his recent struggles, the Indianapolis Colts have said they would look long-term with RB Trent Richardson instead of focusing on the negatives at the moment. 'Wait until he has the rest of this season, wait until he has an off-season with us, goes through a training camp with us,' Colts coach Chuck Pagano said. 'We've just got to keep it real. It's not an easy thing for anybody, let alone Trent who came in with all the hype that comes from being the third overall pick. He won't make any excuses. And we won't make any excuses for him. But reality is reality. It's not an easy thing.'
|Footballguys view: Dynasty owners shouldn't give up on Richardson either. Re-draft owners should have moved on weeks ago. We still believe in Richardson's natural talent and ability as a runner and receiver out of the backfield. Throw out some buy-low offers in dynasty leagues to see if you can scoop him up.|

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald on verge of historic feat Sat Dec 7, 02:43 AM
If Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald scores another touchdown in one of the team's remaining games, he would become the ninth player in NFL history to score at least 10 touchdowns in five seasons.
|Footballguys view: Fantasy owners have to love what the Cardinals passing game has been putting together over the last few weeks. Fitzgerald is a top 15 play this week against the Rams.|

Cardinals | Fast fact: Tight ends have burned Arizona's defense Sat Dec 7, 02:40 AM
In the Arizona Cardinals' five losses, opposing tight ends have caught 11 touchdown passes, and in last week's loss at the Philadelphia Eagles, all three of the Eagles' touchdowns were scored by TEs Zach Ertz and Brent Celek.
|Footballguys view: Keep that in mind if Jared Cook is an option for you this week. We like Cook as a low-end TE1 with upside in Week 14.|

Jaguars | LaRoy Reynolds may be ready to play Sat Dec 7, 02:26 AM
Jacksonville Jaguars coach Gus Bradley expected to meet with LB LaRoy Reynolds, whose four-game suspension for violating the league's policy on performance enhancing drugs has expired. "We'll get him right back in the mix," Bradley said. The Jaguars are allowed a one-game roster exemption for Reynolds. If they want him available against Buffalo on Dec. 15, they must put him on the 53-man roster a day before the game.Link to story
Jaguars | Maurice Jones-Drew vows to play Fri Dec 6, 11:49 PM
Updating a previous report, Jacksonville Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew (hamstring) said Friday, Dec. 6, in a radio interview that he will be ready to play in Week 15. He suffered a hamstring injury in the Week 13 game against the Houston Texans which required an MRI. 'Definitely,' Jones-Drew said. 'Definitely. That's always been the plan. Right now, I mean, I just want to make sure everything is on track. And then we'll see how it goes next week but I expect to be out there playing with my teammates.'
|Footballguys view: Fantasy owners are getting enough out of Jones-Drew to consider him as a low-end RB2 regardless of the matchup.|

Raiders | Rashad Jennings still not cleared Fri Dec 6, 08:25 PM
Updating a previous report, Oakland Raiders RB Rashad Jennings (concussion) has still not been cleared to play in the Week 14 game against the New York Jets.
|Footballguys view: Fantasy owners need to have another plan in place. Jennings is a game time decision, and a questionable play in Week 14 against a tough Jets run defense.|
