Colts | Indy hires Reggie Wayne to coach WRs    Mon Mar 14, 01:44 PM

Former Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne was named as the Colts' new wide receivers coach Monday, March 14.

Footballguys view: Wayne has dabbled in coaching via internships before, and the Colts get a Hall of Fame type wide receiver to lead their room. It's a good move for the franchise as Wayne was one of the best Colts in team history and fans love him. The Colts have some young talent at the position, WR Michael Pittman being the best of the bunch.

NFL | Reggie Wayne retires    Sat Jan 16, 05:41 PM

Free-agent WR Reggie Wayne (Patriots) announced his retirement Friday, Jan. 15. 'Yeah, I'm done,' Wayne said. 'It was fun, but it's time. It's just time. Whenever you can admit that you're done, you know you're done.'

Footballguys view: When Wayne was at the top of his game, he was one of the best receivers in the game. He retires ranking seventh all time in receptions (1,070) and eighth in receiving yards (14,345). He may not be an automatic addition to the Hall of Fame, but we wouldn't be shocked to see him wind up in Canton, OH some day.

Updating previous reports, New England Patriots WR Reggie Wayne's one-year deal is worth a maximum $2.8 million. He received a $450,000 signing bonus and will have a $1.1 million base salary. Updating previous reports, New England Patriots WR Reggie Wayne's one-year deal is worth up to $3 million, including incentives. He received a signing bonus near $500,000.

Footballguys view: Nice work on the veteran's behalf. This is a lot more than the veteran minimum some were expecting him to land.

Patriots | New England adds Reggie Wayne    Mon Aug 24, 01:15 PM

Free-agent WR Reggie Wayne (Colts) agreed to a one-year deal with the New England Patriots Monday, Aug. 24, according to a source. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Unless Reggie Wayne found the fountain of youth in the offseason, he's unlikely to have a lot of fantasy relevance this year in New England. The exception to that might be if Brandon LaFell is not in a position to contribute much this year. If Wayne steps into LaFell's role, he might not be the fantasy WR2 LaFell was once he got rolling last year, but Wayne should still have good value as depth or even a PPR WR3/Flex in good matchups.

Packers | Reggie Wayne could take GB call    Mon Aug 24, 10:12 AM

Free-agent WR Reggie Wayne (Colts) could receive interest from the Green Bay Packers if WR Jordy Nelson (knee) is out for the season.

Footballguys view: Wayne doesn't have a ton left in the tank, but he could provide valuable veteran depth for the Packers. He's taken a physical with the Patriots this week, but no agreement has been worked out. Wayne should be on board with a new team in the near future.

Free-agent WR Reggie Wayne (Colts) is meeting with the New England Patriots Sunday, Aug. 23, and will undergo a physical during the visit, according to sources.

Footballguys view: With Brian Tyms, Aaron Dobson and now Brandon Gibson hurt, plus Brandon LaFell still on the PUP list, the Patriots are in dire need of WR help.

Panthers | Reggie Wayne could be target    Wed Aug 19, 09:37 PM

Free-agent WR Reggie Wayne (Colts) could be a target for the Carolina Panthers. He struggled to make an impact in 2014 with the Indianapolis Colts, never seeming to make it all the way back from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in October 2013. He will turn 37 in November.

Ravens | Reggie Wayne not an option for Ravens    Mon Jul 20, 01:45 PM

Free-agent WR Reggie Wayne (Colts) is not expected to be pursued by the Baltimore Ravens since the team does not see wide receiver as a pressing need.

Footballguys view: Wayne wants to play for a Super Bowl contender, and Baltimore certainly fits the bill. It seems like they're content rolling forward with young guys like Breshad Perriman, Kamar Aiken and Marlon Brown behind seasoned veteran Steven Smith.

Texans | Houston not interested in Reggie Wayne    Mon Jul 20, 12:28 PM

Updating an earlier report, free-agent WR Reggie Wayne (Colts) isn't of interest to the Houston Texans.

Footballguys view: Well if Wayne wants to play for a Super Bowl contender this year, he's best to avoid Houston. The Texans have a strong defense and a quality rushing attack, but their QB situation leaves a lot to be desired.

Texans | Reggie Wayne drawing interest from HOU    Mon Jul 20, 08:27 AM

Free-agent WR Reggie Wayne (Colts) is drawing interest from the Houston Texans.

Footballguys view: The Texans could use better wide receiver depth after losing Andre Johnson to the Colts in free agency. Wayne could work as a mentor for rookie Jaelen Strong and give the team valuable veteran depth. The Texans are not a Super Bowl contender due to their poor QB situation, so Wayne may not want to go there in the twilight of his career.

Ravens | Reggie Wayne drawing interest from Ravens    Mon Jul 20, 08:27 AM

Free-agent WR Reggie Wayne (Colts) is drawing interest from the Baltimore Ravens.

Footballguys view: Going to Baltimore might make the most sense for Wayne. He's not the same player he used to be, but the Ravens lack proven talent behind Steve Smith. Wayne's presence and guidance could be good for guys like Kamar Aiken, Breshad Perriman and Marlon Brown.

Patriots | Reggie Wayne drawing interest from Patriots    Mon Jul 20, 08:26 AM

Free-agent WR Reggie Wayne (Colts) is drawing interest from the New England Patriots.

Footballguys view: Wayne should not be considered a starter at this point in his career, but he could find a home with a Super Bowl contender as veteran depth. With the Patriots, Wayne could be the fourth WR behind Julian Edelman, Brandon LaFell and Danny Amendola.

Packers | Reggie Wayne drawing interest from Packers    Mon Jul 20, 08:25 AM

Free-agent WR Reggie Wayne (Colts) is drawing interest from the Green Bay Packers.

Footballguys view: The Packers would be an odd fit for Wayne as they already have a group of talented young receivers. If added, Wayne might compete with the likes of Jeff Janis or Jared Abbrederis for the fourth WR spot behind Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb and Davante Adams. The Packers are certainly Super Bowl contenders, but we don't see how Wayne really fits as he's not the same player he used to be.

NFL | Reggie Wayne looking to latch on    Fri Jul 17, 11:32 AM

Free-agent WR Reggie Wayne (Colts) wants to play one more year and has spoken to teams about signing.

Dolphins | Reggie Wayne not a target for MIA    Wed Apr 15, 12:55 PM

Free-agent WR Reggie Wayne (Colts) has not received interest from the Miami Dolphins at this point.

Footballguys view: We would be shocked if Wayne latched on with a team in the near future. He's not the same player he used to be, and this is an incredibly deep group of wide receivers coming into the league via the draft this year. Wayne's playing days might be done.

Colts | Reggie Wayne wanted to stay in Indy    Fri Apr 3, 01:27 PM

Free-agent WR Reggie Wayne (Colts) pleaded to remain with the Indianapolis Colts for one more season, but owner Jim Irsay told Wayne that the team decided to move on. 'I have nothing bad to say about the Colts,' Wayne said. 'I have zero bad to say. They took me from the street and turned a frown upside down. Zero bad to say.'

Footballguys view: Wayne had just 64 catches for 779 yards and two touchdowns in 2014 while dealing with nagging injuries, and he underwent triceps and knee surgery after the season. Some team may take a chance on the veteran, but that might not happen until training camp or after the beginning of the regular season.

Jaguars | Reggie Wayne unlikely for Jacksonville    Mon Mar 30, 11:20 PM

Free-agent WR Reggie Wayne (Colts) is not a player the Jacksonville Jaguars are interested in pursuing.

Footballguys view: Wayne might not have many suitors this offseason. He's not what he once was, and this is a talent-rich draft class.

Chargers | SD to look at Reggie Wayne?    Wed Mar 11, 06:16 PM

Free-agent WR Reggie Wayne (Colts) could be a target of the San Diego Chargers after they lost out on Indianapolis Colts WR Andre Johnson in free agency. Chargers general manager Tom Telesco was a former front office executive with the Colts.

Footballguys view: Wayne looked used up at the end of last season due to any number of injuries, but the Chargers could get some decent football out of Wayne as a role player if it was the injuries more than his age that sapped his game of effectiveness in 2014.

NFL | Reggie Wayne not retiring?    Sat Mar 7, 03:06 PM

Free-agent WR Reggie Wayne (Colts) is reportedly open to playing another with a contending team instead of retiring.

Footballguys view: Wayne may not yet be done as a pro. A contending team narrows the list of potential suitors. He could reunite with Peyton Manning in Denver, but they've got Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas (plus second-year WR Cody Latimer). Wayne might find his way to New England, but there too he would be a reserve player. We'll see what kind of interest he receives this next week after a few of the big-name wide receivers find a new home.

Colts | Reggie Wayne won't return    Fri Mar 6, 10:34 AM

Indianapolis Colts impending free-agent WR Reggie Wayne will not be re-signed for 2015, the team announced Friday, March 6.

Footballguys view: It's the end of an era in Indianapolis. At 36-years old, and not the same player since injuring his ACL in 2013, Wayne may not find many suitors on the open market. He's likely considering retirement at this time, but there may be a team or two willing to bring him in on a veteran minimum contract.

Colts | Reggie Wayne undergoes surgery    Fri Feb 27, 04:32 PM

Indianapolis Colts impending free-agent WR Reggie Wayne (triceps) recently underwent surgery on his triceps and has started his rehab. Wayne still has not decided if he will play in 2015.

Footballguys view: Wayne needs to first decide if he's going to play or retire. He tore his ACL in 2013 and his triceps in 2014, and Wayne is not getting any younger. He's not the same player he used to be, and the Colts should be looking to move on without him.

Colts | Reggie Wayne uncertain about future    Thu Feb 19, 01:40 PM

Indianapolis Colts impending free-agent WR Reggie Wayne has not informed the Colts on if he wants to play again next season, according to general manager Ryan Grigson.

Footballguys view: Wayne is definitely very close to the end of his career. Whether he chooses to play again or not - and it won't shock us if he decides not to - the Colts need to think about replacing him. While they have some bigger needs for early in the draft, they will definitely look to add a rookie receiver and will likely make a run at receivers in free agency as well.

Colts | Reggie Wayne undecided on future    Mon Jan 19, 06:53 PM

Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne (triceps) is unsure if he will be returning for another season. Wayne was targeted just twice in the loss to the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Sunday, Jan. 18, and he didn't have any catches.

Footballguys view: The veteran receiver just isn't the same as he used to be. Wayne is hitting the open market as an unrestricted free agent in 2015. Wayne said he plans to have surgery to fix a torn triceps this offseason.

Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne had no catches and was targeted just once in the team's 24-13 win over the Denver Broncos in the divisional round of the playoffs Sunday, Jan. 11.

Footballguys view: Wayne has seen better days. He's not the same player he used to be, and Wayne is going to be a free agent in 2015. Wayne would like to stay with the team, but that's no guarantee. We can't imagine the market being white hot for his services.

Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne (rest) did not participate in practice Friday, Jan. 9, but is not on the injury report for the Divisional Round playoff game.

Colts | Reggie Wayne planning on returning    Thu Jan 1, 09:39 PM

Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne said Wednesday, Dec. 31, that he expects to be back with the team next season.

Colts | Reggie Wayne fully practices    Thu Jan 1, 03:12 PM

Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne (groin) fully participated in practice Thursday, Jan. 1.

Footballguys view: Week 17 was the fewest targets Wayne had all season long and if his groin isn't bothering him all that much, we should see an uptick. This is still the Andrew Luck-TY Hilton show though, so don't over-commit. We see Wayne as a low-end WR2 in this matchup, and his ceiling isn't all that high.

Colts | Reggie Wayne leaves with injury    Sun Dec 28, 02:06 PM

Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne (groin) suffered a groin injury in Week 17 and is considered questionable to return.

Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne (triceps) said he is dealing with a triceps injury that will require surgery after the season is over.

Colts | Reggie Wayne should play    Fri Dec 19, 03:43 PM

Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne (rest) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 19, but is listed as probable for Week 16.

Footballguys view: Wayne just got some veteran rest. He needs it with his multiple injuries. TY Hilton is probably not going to play, so Wayne could be leaned on more by Andrew Luck, but he's still not a good play against he Cowboys.

Colts | Reggie Wayne not at practice     Fri Dec 19, 11:46 AM

Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne (triceps) is not participating in the portion of practice open to the media Friday, Dec. 19.

Footballguys view: Wayne might just be getting rest, but it is also possible that the Colts play him less than a full complement of snaps on Sunday with likely nothing to gain from winning the game at Dallas. Hakeem Nicks will be on the field a lot for the Colts this week.

Colts | Reggie Wayne says he's fine    Fri Dec 12, 06:39 PM

Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne (triceps), who is dealing with a torn triceps, said he is fine as long as he's on the field and playing, as he's expected to do in Week 15 against the Houston Texans. "If I'm out there playing, then I'm good," Wayne said. "Point blank."

Footballguys view: He can say that, but when we watch Wayne something looks off. Maybe it's age, maybe it's his injury....likely it's both. Fantasy owners should be making other plans until we see Wayne return to form (if he can).

Colts | Reggie Wayne listed as probable    Fri Dec 12, 04:16 PM

Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne (rest) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 12, and is listed as probable for Week 15.

Footballguys view: Wayne is too banged up to trust this week, but he could get a full complement of snaps and hurt Donte Moncrief's chances of coming through for owners pressed to put him this week because of injury or depth problems.

Colts | Reggie Wayne affected by triceps    Tue Dec 9, 09:32 AM

Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne (triceps) has been bothered by a torn left triceps muscle, according to head coach Chuck Pagano. The injury occurred Oct. 19 and was described as an elbow injury. Pagano was noncommittal on whether he'd continue to play Wayne.

Footballguys view: Wayne has seen better days. We love the upside of rookie WR Donte Moncrief and want to see him used more as Wayne's play declines.

Colts | Reggie Wayne held to just one catch    Sun Dec 7, 05:45 PM

Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne had just one reception for five yards in Week 14 against the Cleveland Browns, ending his 82-game streak with three or more receptions.

Footballguys view: Wayne is in the twilight of his career, and his drops today accentuated that. If the Colts are aggressive about addressing this, Donte Moncrief could be a good boom/bust WR3/Flex in the final two fantasy football playoff weeks.

Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne indicated he may consider retirement this offseason but will need time to make a decision. Wayne said he will only sign with the Colts if he decides to continue his playing career. Wayne will be an unrestricted free agent after the season.
