Jaguars | Trim roster Mon Aug 25, 11:08 PM
The Jacksonville Jaguars released CB Michael Harris, WR Ramses Barden, LB Allen Bradford, OG Antoine Caldwell, LB Josh Hull, RB Harvey Unga, SS Joseph Young and C Patrick Lewis Monday, Aug. 25. The team also waived LS Charley Hughlett and WR Kenny Shaw, and DT David Carter (knee) was waived with a waived/injured designation.
Footballguys view: Barden has bounced around now after not living up to his size/athleticism combination and third-round pick status. If he can't catch on in Jacksonville's young and injured WR corps, then he is probably on his way out of the league for good. |

The Jacksonville Jaguars signed free-agents FB Harvey Unga (Bears) and OT Cody Booth (Bears), waived WR Chad Hall and waived/injured FB Bradie Ewing (wrist) Saturday, Aug. 16.

Footballguys view: Allen and Unga lose out on a backup RB role with the Bears. Fantasy owners need to remember the name Michael Ford as he's now the RB3 in Chicago behind Matt Forte and Michael Bush. The rookie from LSU is a talented runner who loves to punish defenders. |

The Chicago Bears could sign practice squad RB Harvey Unga to their active roster because of RB Matt Forte's (ankle) injury.
Footballguys view: Forte's ankle injury is not thought to be serious, but they'll monitor him during the week of practice. The Bears can clinch a wild-card spot in the playoffs with a win in week 17 and a loss by the Vikings. Chicago plays on the road in Detroit this week. |

Footballguys view: Unga was a supplemental draft pick by the Bears in 2010 but injuries and this personal issue have kept him off the field. He's built more like a Fullback than a Running Back and we're not expecting much from him even if he makes the team and gets some playing time. |

Bears | Harvey Unga hopes to be back soon Mon Aug 2, 04:36 PM
Chicago Bears RB Harvey Unga (hamstring) said he hopes is pulled hamstring does not keep him out of practice for a long time, reports the Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs.
Footballguys view: Unga said the hamstring pull is 'not that bad' and expect to be back on the practice field soon. The Bears selected Unga in the seventh-round of the supplemental draft to give them more depth behind Matt Forte and Chester Taylor. Unga is somewhat limited as a runner, but could also play as a pass catching fullback if needed. |

Bears | Harvey Unga could see time at FB Wed Jul 21, 03:06 PM
The Chicago Bears may try to use RB Harvey Unga at fullback during training camp, reports Brad Biggs, of NationalFootballPost.com.
Footballguys view: Some were hyping Unga as a potential feature back in the pros, but we just don't see it. He's a big back, who is difficult to bring down once he gets a head of steam. However, Unga is not creative, agile, or elusive in the open field. He is a proven receiver out of the backfield, and could play as a pass catching fullback for the Bears. |

Bears | Harvey Unga will have to earn roster spot Fri Jul 16, 01:45 PM
Chicago Bears RB Harvey Unga will have to compete with the team's other running backs to secure an opening day roster spot, reports Neil Hayes, of the Chicago Sun-Times.
Footballguys view: He can probably overcome Kahlil Bell pretty easily, but Garrett Wolfe adds a lot of value on special teams, so he might be tough to edge out for the third roster spot at RB. |

Bears | Harvey Unga surprised by selection Fri Jul 16, 01:45 PM
Chicago Bears RB Harvey Unga said he was surprised that the Chicago Bears selected him in the supplemental draft because of the number of running backs the team has on its roster, reports Neil Hayes, of the Chicago Sun-Times. 'They're stacked up with running backs right now. They don't need another back. I'm just going to come in there and bust my butt and make the best of the situation. I told them this is something they won't regret and I'm a man of my word,' Unga said.

Bears | Harvey Unga brings versatility Thu Jul 15, 04:52 PM
Chicago Bears rookie RB Harvey Unga has the potential to be used in single-back formations, and also could be considered at fullback, reports Dan Pompei, of ChicagoBreakingSports.com. Unga can contribute as a pass receiver and protector, and is also considered a power back. He will compete with RBs Kahlil Bell and Garrett Wolfe for a roster spot during training camp.
Footballguys view: Unga does not have the quick initial burst or change of direction skills to be anything more than a short-yardage back. He is a proven receiver out of the backfield, and could be a pass catching fullback for the Bears. |

Bears | Select Harvey Unga in supplemental draft Thu Jul 15, 02:22 PM
The Chicago Bears have selected Brigham Young RB Harvey Unga in the seventh round of the NFL supplemental draft, according to Adam Schefter, from ESPN.
Footballguys view: Unga is a situational back, and not a feature back. He's big and hard to bring down once he gets a head of steam, but he lacks the quickness and agility to be a feature runner in the NFL. Unga is a proven receiver out of the backfield, and has the versatility to play running back or fullback. |

NFL | Harvey Unga could go in third round Mon Jul 12, 07:59 PM
Brigham Young RB Harvey Unga could go in the third round of the supplemental draft July 15, reports NFL.com's Michael Lombardi. The St. Louis Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Miami Dolphins are believed to have serious interest in Unga.
Footballguys view: Unga's FB/RB tweener style fits the Dolphins well and could put Lex Hillard and Kory Sheets out of a possible job. The Bucs could use Unga to spell Cadillac Williams and Derrick Ward, and the Rams need a rugged backup for Steven Jackson in the worst way. Still, a third round pick is probably a bit high for the Rams and Bucs because they're likely to be in the top half of the draft again next year. |

Brigham Young RB Harvey Unga received the most interest from the Philadelphia Eagles, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks during his workout, reports Jay Drew, of the Salt Lake Tribune.
Footballguys view: The Saints, Bucs, and Eagles would presumably turn Unga into a fullback, but the Seahawks wide-open backfield could be the best fantasy landing spot for the big back. |

NFL | Harvey Unga works out Thursday Thu Jul 8, 03:58 PM
Brigham Young RB Harvey Unga (ankle) worked out for 20 NFL teams Thursday, July 8, but was reportedly hampered by an ankle injury, reports NFL.com's Gil Brandt. Unga measured in at his workout with a height of 6-foot-1, 244 pounds. He ran the 40-yard dash at 4.76 seconds and 4.65 seconds, the three-cone drill in 7.41 seconds and the short shuttle in 4.51 seconds. He measured a 9-foot-6 broad jump and a 35-inch vertical jump. Among the teams represented at the workout were the Pittsburgh Steelers, Green Bay Packers, Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, Seattle Seahawks and New Orleans Saints.
Footballguys view: Several teams are interested in Unga, who may be the only player selected in the 2010 Supplemental Draft on July 15th. We think he isn't fast enough to be a tailback at this level, but could contribute as a fullback, short-yardage, and goalline runner. |

Buccaneers | Could have interest in Harvey Unga Tue Jul 6, 04:12 PM
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could have interest in Brigham Young RB Harvey Unga in the later rounds of the NFL supplemental draft if another team does not select him, reports the St. Petersburg Times' Stephen Holder. Unga appears to have the combination of size and speed, which the Buccaneers are lacking in a running back.
Footballguys view: Unga might be the only player selected in the upcoming 2010 Supplemental Draft. The big back from BYU does not have the agility or quickness to be a featured runner in this league, but he could provide some 'power' to the running game because of his size. |

NFL | Harvey Unga's workout expected to be heavily attended Thu Jun 24, 01:28 PM
Scouts from at least three-quarters of the teams in the NFL are expected to attended Brigham Young RB Harvey Unga's workout July 8, according to the Boston Globe's Albert Breer. Unga is eligible to be selected in the NFL supplemental draft.
Footballguys view: Unga is a big back, but some are considering a move to fullback for the former BYU ball carrier. We don't think he's quick, elusive, or sudden enough to make it as a RB in the NFL. |

NFL | Several teams believed to be interested in Harvey Unga Mon Jun 21, 05:57 PM
Brigham Young RB Harvey Unga is believed to be drawing interest from the St. Louis Rams, Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers, reports Mike Berardino, of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. Unga is eligible to be selected in the NFL supplemental draft.
Footballguys view: Unga is a big back who could immediately contribute as a short yardage and goalline specialist. Since 1977 there have been 39 players selected in the supplemental draft, and Unga would be the first RB chosen since the Texans grabbed Tony Hollings with a second-round pick back in 2003. |

Dolphins | Showing interest in Harvey Unga Mon Jun 21, 05:51 PM
The Miami Dolphins have shown interest in Brigham Young RB Harvey Unga and will attend his Pro Day in July, a source told Mike Berardino, of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. Unga is eligible to be selected in the NFL supplemental draft.
Footballguys view: The Dolphins might be looking to add another big back behind Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams. They currently have Patrick Cobbs, Lex Hilliard, and Kory Sheets as reserve running backs and adding Unga to the mix could boot one of those guys off the final roster. Unga gets low between the tackles, and is a hard charging, no-nonsense type of runner. He's expected to draw a lot of interest from several teams around the NFL. |

Brigham Young RB Harvey Unga will hold a Pro Day July 8, which is a week before the NFL supplemental draft, according to NFL Network's Jason La Canfora.
