| Footballguys view: Traylor spent some time with the Broncos and is mostly known for his size and blocking ability. The Lions are stacked at the position with Jesse James and rookie first-round pick T.J. Hockenson at the top of the depth chart. Traylor will be hard pressed to make the 53-man roster. |

The team also released DT Clinton McDonald, OT Cyrus Kouandjio and SS Shamarko Thomas and waived/injured OT Andreas Knappe (undisclosed) and S Jordan Moore (undisclosed). TE Troy Fumagalli (undisclosed) and LB Jerrol Garcia-Williams (knee) were placed on the Reserve/Injured list, while WR Jordan Taylor (hip) was placed on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list.

Denver Broncos TE Austin Traylor has a chance to secure the No. 3 tight end position with TE Troy Fumagali (groin) hurting. If Traylor can put together a good showing in the final preseason game then the odds are good he'll survive the final cut.

| Footballguys view: Derby did next to nothing after the Broncos traded for him last season. A sixth-round pick out of Arkansas in 2016 (Patriots), Derby plays like a wide receiver and isn't good at blocking. With his receiving ability, there might be a team willing to take a chance on him now that he's hit the open market. Traylor is a big body, and while he has decent hands, we're not expecting much from him now that he's been called up. He should play as a backup behind Virgil Green on Sunday. |

A seventh-round pick (Seahawks) out of Clemson in 2016, Brooks is a swift runner with decent ability as a receiver in the open field. | Footballguys view: The undrafted rookie out of Wisconsin was originally signed by the Dallas Cowboys. They decided to release him and he landed on the Chargers practice squad. He then was released and wound up with the Patriots for a brief stint and then with the Ravens. Now, Traylor is with the Broncos as they are thin at the position with A.J. Derby and Virgil Green both in the concussion protocol this week. During his college career with the Badgers, Traylor caught 17 passes for 234 yards receiving and four touchdowns. |
