Henderson has the agility, low center of gravity, and decision-making of a zone runner. Although he's third on the Broncos depth chart to begin the summer, Devontae Booker is best-suited for gap blocking and he struggled with the footwork and patience required to run zone when he was a rookie. If this doesn't change, Henderson could leapfrog Booker by the end of training camp and be poised to contribute behind rookie Royce Freeman.

Summary

DeAngelo Henderson didn't get much of a chance to prove himself last year as a rookie. He flashed during training camp and the preseason, but Henderson spent most of his rookie year on the inactive list. Henderson did get a chance to actually play in the season finale against the Chiefs. During that Week 17 game, Henderson scored one touchdown on a 29-yard screen pass and displayed the foot-frequency and quickness that made him an intriguing pick. He's got the ability to be a change-of-pace back for the Broncos but is third on the depth chart at best. Henderson will have to keep undrafted rookie Phillip Lindsay at bay during camp and hope for an opportunity behind the top two backs in Denver, Devontae Booker and Royce Freeman. (May 16)

Broncos | De'Angelo Henderson involved in accident (Mon May 14, 03:17 PM) - Denver Broncos RB De'Angelo Henderson (undisclosed) was hospitalized with minor injuries Monday, May 14, after being an accident victim in a high-speed police chase. He is present at the team facility and will be ready for organized team activities next week.

Our View: Thank goodness Henderson was able to walk away from this accident. He's competing for a reserve spot with the Broncos. Right now, Royce Freeman and Devontae Booker should compete for the starting job. Henderson will be competing with Phillip Lindsay for a backup or change-of-pace job.
