Titans | Sign Visanthe Shiancoe Tue Dec 3, 04:11 PM
The Tennessee Titans signed TE Visanthe Shiancoe (Ravens) Tuesday, Dec. 3. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: The Titans had to do something with both Delanie Walker and Craig Stevens injured. Schiancoe will compete with Taylor Thompson for playing time against the Broncos in Week 14. |

Ravens | 11 players released Sun Aug 25, 11:51 AM
The Baltimore Ravens waived RB Damien Berry, WR Rashaad Carter, OG Jack Cornell, OT Ramon Harewood, CB Moe Lee, OT David Mims, DE Will Pericak, WR Gerrard Sheppard, WR Tommy Streeter and LB Meshak Williams. The team also released TE Visanthe Shiancoe.
Footballguys view: Streeter is a size/speed receiver who was the poor man's Stephen Hill in last year's draft. He could get picked up elsewhere because of his rare physical talent. |

Ravens | Happy with Visanthe Shiancoe's work Wed Aug 7, 05:07 PM
Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said he has been pleased with how TE Visanthe Shiancoe has looked so far since joining the team. 'I'd say he's done a really good job, but there is a learning curve,' Harbaugh said. 'He physically looks like he is in good shape. He is running routes well. He catches the ball well, and he's learning the offense. That's not easy. He's not up to full speed because he's not there mentally yet. But, we sure have a lot of talent and ability. He's doing a good job.' Shiancoe said the hardest thing for him as been learning the terminology.
Footballguys view: Shiancoe is a seasoned veteran but has little fantasy value. He's been getting more work with the Ravens as Ed Dickson is dealing with a hamstring injury. |

Ravens | Visanthe Shiancoe to compete for backup job Mon Jul 29, 01:12 PM
Baltimore Ravens TE Visanthe Shiancoe is expected to compete with TEs Billy Bajema, Matt Furstenburg and Alex Silvestro for the backup tight end job to TE Ed Dickson.
Footballguys view: Shiancoe is not the same player he used to be but gives the Ravens more veteran depth at the TE position. Bajema is a better blocker but Shiancoe may be able to impress as a receiver in training camp. |

Ravens | Visanthe Shiancoe signed Sun Jul 28, 03:35 PM
The Baltimore Ravens have signed free-agent TE Visanthe Shiancoe (Patriots) to a one-year deal.
Footballguys view: Shiancoe is a solid two-way tight end, but he is no threat to be a fantasy factor this year. What he could do is steal enough targets from Ed Dickson with competent play to keep Dickson's upside limited to high TE2 or low TE1 instead of a possible breakout player with Dennis Pitta sidelined for the year. Shiancoe was actually watching Ravens practice with Ozzie Newsome before Pitta's injury, so there was interest there before a need arose. |

Ravens | Visanthe Shiancoe pays visit Fri Jul 26, 09:32 PM
Free-agent TE Visanthe Shiancoe (Patriots) watched the entire practice of the Baltimore Ravens Friday, July 26, alongside general manager Ozzie Newsome. The Ravens are considering signing the veteran tight end.
Footballguys view: Shiancoe has gotten a little interest on the open market over the last couple of weeks. If the Ravens signed him Shiancoe would be the TE3 behind Dennis Pitta and Ed Dickson. He's not the same player he used to be but would give the team veteran depth at the position. The Buccaneers have also shown interest in Shiancoe. |

Buccaneers | Visanthe Shiancoe to work out Tue Jul 23, 09:14 AM
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will work out free-agent TE Visanthe Shiancoe (Patriots) Tuesday, July 23.
Footballguys view: The Buccaneers are looking for TE help as they have unproven Luke Stocker sitting at the top of their depth chart. Stocker has struggled with drops and only has 28 career receptions in two professional seasons. |

The New England Patriots have declared DL Chandler Jones, FS Derrick Martin, FB James Develin, OG Logan Mankins, OG Mitch Petrus, TE Rob Gronkowski, TE Visanthe Shiancoe inactive for Week 13.

Updating previous reports, New England Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez (ankle) will be active for the team's Week 12 game against the New York Jets Thursday, Nov. 21, but he'll be limited in the game.
Footballguys view: Because of this injury it will limit Hernandez's fantasy value in week 12. Reserve TE Visanthe Shiancoe could see an increase in targets on Thanksgiving. |

Patriots | Aaron Hernandez may not replace Rob Gronkowski Mon Nov 19, 07:10 AM
New England Patriots TEs Rob Gronkowski (forearm) and Aaron Hernandez (ankle) play two different positions within the team's offense. There is the traditional 'Y' position, who is 6-foot-5 or taller, at least 255 pounds, can run but absolutely must be a standout blocker. He has to be a viable receiver, but not a great one. There is also the 'F' or flex tight end, who is 6-foot-3 or taller, around 235 pounds, must be able to run and be an excellent pass receiver. He does not need to be a good blocker. If the team wants to stick with that system while Gronkowski is out, TEs Michael Hoomanawanui and Daniel Fells could fill Gronkowski's 'Y' position, while Hernandez and TE Visanthe Shiancoe would serve as the flex tight ends.

New England Patriots TE Visanthe Shiancoe (hamstring) took part in the team's walk-through Tuesday, Oct. 23, meaning he could be close to returning from the Injured Reserve.

Patriots | Logan Mankins practicing in pads Tue Aug 14, 05:12 PM
New England Patriots OG Logan Mankins (knee) participated in practice in pads for the first time Tuesday, Aug. 14. However, FB Eric Kettani, CB Alfonzo Dennard, FB Spencer Larsen, OG Brian Waters, LB Tracy White, OT Markus Zusevics, OT Matt Kopa, OT Kyle Hix, OT Sebastian Vollmer, TE Aaron Hernandez, TE Visanthe Shiancoe, WR Brandon Lloyd, TE Daniel Fells, TE Rob Gronkowski, TE Jake Ballard and DLs Myron Pryor, Gerard Warren and Jonathan Fanene sat out. CB Malcolm Williams and S James Ihedigbo returned.
Footballguys view: The Patriots offensive line is the only concern in a year setting up to be their best on offense since 2007. Mankins return to practice is reassuring for anyone planning on taking Tom Brady in the first round. |

Seahawks | Visanthe Shiancoe rejects deal Fri Jun 29, 01:08 PM
The Seattle Seahawks offered free-agent TE Visanthe Shiancoe (Seahawks) a one-year deal worth $1.2 million but he decided not to accept the deal.
Footballguys view: Schiancoe had met with the Seahawks back in March, but has generated little interest on the open market. Seattle has added Kellen Winslow to be primary backup behind Zach Miller. Schiancoe is a notable veteran left on the free agent market and may have to wait for injuries to hit the TE position in order for him to catch on with a new team. |

Vikings | Visanthe Shiancoe will not return Sat Mar 31, 12:37 PM
The Minnesota Vikings will not re-sign free-agent TE Visanthe Shiancoe this offseason because they have added TE John Carlson to the roster.
Footballguys view: The Vikings are set at the position because of Carlson and second-year TE Kyle Rudolph. Shiancoe is getting very little interest in free agency. |

Seahawks | Visanthe Shiancoe to visit Wed Mar 14, 08:40 PM
Free-agent TE Visanthe Shiancoe (Vikings) is expected to visit with the Seattle Seahawks within the next few days. Shiancoe worked with Seahawks offensive coordinator during his time with the Minnesota Vikings.
Footballguys view: With John Carlson going to the Vikings it means Shiancoe will be looking elsewhere for a job. We thought the Giants may have interest in bringing him back but they just signed Martellus Bennett. The Seahawks could use Shiancoe for veteran depth behind Zach Miller. |

Minnesota Vikings TE Visanthe Shiancoe (hamstring) was listed as a limited participant in practice Friday, Nov. 25, and it appears he is in line to play in Week 12. 'He's made enough progress to where we feel like he has a very good chance of playing on Sunday,' head coach Leslie Frazier said. 'We'll see how it goes as we get a little bit closer.'
Footballguys view: Shiancoe is a solid sleeper TE play with Kyle Rudolph likely out this week, although he comes with risk as a player already banged up going into the game. |
