Bears | Work out two receivers    Tue Aug 5, 05:55 PM

The Chicago Bears reportedly worked out free-agent WRs Santonio Holmes (Jets) and Ben Obomanu (Jets). Neither appears to currently be signing, however.

Footballguys view: With Marquess Wilson out (broken right collarbone), the Bears need to find veteran depth and competition at the wide receiver position. At this time, there is not timetable for Wilson's return.

Jets | Stephen Hill unlikely to play this week    Mon Sep 30, 03:41 PM

New York Jets WR Stephen Hill (concussion) is unlikely to play in Week 5 against the Atlanta Falcons after sustaining a concussion in Week 4. Hill has 13 catches for 233 yards and one touchdown this season as the team's second leading receiver. WR Santonio Holmes (hamstring) is also dinged up, and WRs Jeremy Kerley and Ben Obomanu or Clyde Gates would likely start if both Hill and Holmes don't play.

Footballguys view: Hill is a favorite target of rookie QB Geno Smith, but needs to pass the NFL protocol for dealing with concussions before he can return to the field.

New York Jets WR Braylon Edwards' (leg) roster spot is now in jeopardy after the team signed WR Mohamed Massaquoi Thursday, Aug. 22. Edwards hasn't taken part in practice in the last four days due to a leg injury. Aside from WR Santonio Holmes (foot), who remains week to week, WRs Jeremy Kerley, Stephen Hill and Clyde Gates are locks at receiver. WR Ryan Spadola is looking more safe, and WR Ben Obomanu is in jeopardy. Head coach Rex Ryan sees similarities between Massaquoi and former Jets wideout Jerricho Cotchery.

Jets | Ben Obomanu receives a lot of reps    Thu May 30, 04:29 PM

New York Jets WR Ben Obomanu received a lot of reps during organized team activities Wednesday, May 30, including some with the first-team offense. Obomanu also worked as a kick returner during the workout.

Footballguys view: No surprise here. The team is limiting the number of reps for second-year WR Stephen Hill as he comes back from his knee injury. WR1 Santonio Holmes is also missing minicamp because of a foot injury.

The New York Jets signed free-agent WR Ben Obomanu (Seahawks).

Footballguys view: Jets GM John Idzik is familiar with Obomanu from their days together in Seattle. He should be the team's WR4 behind Santonio Holmes, Jeremy Kerley, and Stephen Hill. Obomanu gives the team veteran depth at the WR position and can play special teams as well.

Seahawks | Ben Obomanu to be released    Fri Mar 15, 06:01 PM

Seattle Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu said he will be released by the team.

Footballguys view: Not a good time for a WR to be hitting the free agent market. Obomanu should be able to catch on with another team sometime, but could find making a final roster more difficult.

Seahawks | Ben Obomanu, Golden Tate top depth chart    Tue Aug 14, 10:21 PM

Seattle Seahawks WRs Ben Obomanu and Golden Tate sit atop the team's initial preseason depth chart. WR Terrell Owens is not listed among the Top Six, and neither are WRs Doug Baldwin (hamstring), Ricardo Lockette (leg) and Sidney Rice (shoulder), who have been dealing with injuries.

Seattle Seahawks WR Ben Obomanu will move into the starting lineup in Week 13 against the Philadelphia Eagles Thursday, Dec. 1, in place of WR Sidney Rice (concussion), who is on the season-ending Injured Reserve list.

Seahawks | Sidney Rice unlikely to play    Tue Nov 29, 04:04 PM

Seahawks | Ben Obomanu eclipses century mark    Sun Oct 30, 09:31 PM
