Week 5: at Tennessee Titans
All WR vs TEN
Mark and Joe say: Tough matchup. Tyrod Taylor had a TD pass to Charles Clay called back on a chop block last week - he would have had a much better day but for the ruinous penalty (28/42 for 274 yards passing, one TD and one interception thrown), though 274 yards passing and a score is nothing to complain about (but fantasy owners still will!). Clay ran up 13 targets for 9/111/0 receiving on the day with Sammy Watkins out due to a calf injury. Bills general manager Doug Whaley said on Tuesday that Watkins' calf injury is not a 'long-term' concern. 'Everything points to that it's not that severe. We're hoping to see how he responds this week. We have our fingers crossed that he may be in this week.' Stay tuned to Footballguys.com's Players in the News for Week Five to see if Watkins is able to practice this week. In his absence last week, Percy Harvin (eight targets for 3/26/0 receiving), Chris Hogan (five for 5/43/0) and Robert Woods (five for 3/33/0) formed a low-octane committee of wide receivers for Taylor, who is currently making a silk purse out of a sow's ear with Watkins out.
The Colts posted 18/30 for 245 net yards passing, two TDs and two interceptions thrown vs. Tennessee in Week Three, after the Browns and Johnny Manziel garnered 8/15 yielding 172 passing yards for two TDs and zero interceptions back in Week Two. After 1/4 of the regular season (but only three games for the Titans, who were on bye last week), Tennessee ranks sixth in the NFL averaging 194.7 net passing yards allowed per game, with six passing scores given up vs. four interceptions and nine sacks (tied for ninth in the NFL in both categories) generated to date.
This looks like a tough matchup for Taylor and his second-stringers at wide receiver.
