Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz said he has been impressed with CB Eric King during offseason workouts and especially in the nickel defense, reports Carlos Monarrez, of the Detroit Free Press. King said he is starting to feel more comfortable playing in the nickel defense.

Cotsonika, of the Detroit Free Press, reports Detroit Lions CB Eric King served a one-game suspension during the team's Week 17 game "for an alcohol-related violation of law,"according to an NFL spokesman. King forfeited a game check of $58,823. The league did not release details of the violation, and the team never announced the suspension.

John Niyo, of The Detroit News, reports Detroit Lions rookie S Louis Delmas emerged as a vocal leader in the defense during the summer and appears to be locked in at one safety spot. The other figures to have plenty of competition in training camp, as Kalvin Pearson, Marquand Manuel and Daniel Bullocks could be in the mix. At cornerback, it appears Anthony Henry and Phillip Buchanon will be the starting pair. CB Eric King is likely to battle for the top nickel back role, while Keith Smith will challenge him.
