Packers | Five tight ends fighting for primary backup job Sat Aug 27, 12:46 AM
Green Bay Packers TEs Tom Crabtree, Spencer Havner, Andrew Quarless, Ryan Taylor and DJ Williams are fighting for the primary backup job to starter TE Jermichael Finley. In the preseason game Friday, Aug. 26, against the Indianapolis Colts, Cratbree and Havner did not record any catches. Taylor posted three grabs for 24 yards and a score to lead the group, while Quarless recorded a 16-yard grab on his only touch. Williams also had an eight-yard catch.
Footballguys view: The Packers clearly have the ability to identify and develop tight end talent. If they try to slip Taylor or Williams through to the practice squad, chances are another team will claim one of the players. |

Packers | Deep at tight end Sun Aug 21, 12:22 AM
The Green Bay Packers are deep at tight end and TE Jermichael Finley is the only lock for a roster spot at this point. TEs Andrew Quarless, DJ Williams, Ryan Taylor, Tom Crabtree and Spencer Havner are all options for roster spots. Letting Quarless go would hurt, as he's the team's second-best athlete at the position, and losing Crabtree would hurt, as he is the team's best blocking tight end.
Footballguys view: The Packers will have to let go of at least one, if not two TEs that other teams will snap up on the waiver wire. The other possibility is that they keep as many as five at the position, but let a roster-worthy player go at another position. |

Footballguys view: Havner scored a touchdown last week, but we're not rushing to put him into the starting lineup on our fantasy squads. The Packers could look to veteran Donald Lee as well as Havner against the Vikings. |
