NFL | Ray Rice releases training video    Wed Sep 14, 11:06 PM

Free-agent RB Ray Rice (Ravens) released an extreme training video Tuesday, Sept. 13, showing him working out at a Connecticut gym. He was wearing a weighted vest and oxygen-deprivation mask, as well as showing his vertical leap and agility. He has not played in an NFL game since the 2013 season, but some believe there is a 'growing sense' the 29-year-old will get a shot to return this season. He vowed to donate every game check this season to programs focusing on education and prevention of domestic violence.

Footballguys view: There are some who think Rice will get another chance in the NFL. That's a possibility, and it seems like something that could happen much more than it did a few months ago. There's some team who may at least bring Rice in for a workout.

NFL | Ray Rice would donate entire salary    Thu Jul 21, 10:03 PM

Free-agent RB Ray Rice said that if he gets a chance to return to the NFL this season, he would donate his entire salary to organizations with programs focusing on education and prevention of domestic violence and supporting survivors and their families. 'Me donating my salary is something that'll be from the heart for me,' Rice stated. 'I only want to play football so I can end it the right way for my kids and for the people that really believed in me. But I know there are a lot of people affected by domestic violence, and every dollar helps. It's raising awareness.'

Footballguys view: Second chances are the American way....but we don't think Rice will get that chance. Perhaps some team out there would take a look at him (maybe teams who missed out on Arian Foster?), but we doubt we ever see Rice in an NFL uniform again.

NFL | Ray Rice willing to give up salary    Thu Jul 21, 06:02 PM

Free-agent RB Ray Rice (Ravens) will donate his salary to organizations with programs focusing on education and prevention of domestic violence if he is given another chance in the NFL.

Footballguys view: We believe in second chances and could see him get another shot, given that out of the three players suspended back in 2014 Rice is the one who truly seems sorry and is trying to have a positive impact around domestic violence. Unfortunately he's just not a great runner anymore, which means his chances are not likely coming any time soon.

NFL | Ray Rice says window is closing    Fri Jul 15, 03:37 PM

Free-agent RB Ray Rice (Ravens) said he still hopes to play in the NFL but understands that his window to play again is closing because of his age and his off-field incident.

Footballguys view: We'd be shocked if any team took a chance on Rice at this point in his career. His playing days in the NFL are likely done.

Jets | Ray Rice not on radar of NYJ    Fri Jan 22, 10:20 PM

Free-agent RB Ray Rice is not on the New York Jets' radar, according to general manager Mike Maccagnan, but he admitted that discussions about Rice have taken place internally.

Footballguys view: Anything can happen, but we just don't see Rice playing in the NFL again. We'll see if a team wants to add him (and all that goes with that) later this offseason.

NFL | Ray Rice still wants to return    Wed Jan 20, 01:39 AM

Free-agent RB Ray Rice (Ravens) continues to train and remains hopeful of landing a spot to resume his NFL playing career in 2016. 'Honestly, I'm never going to give up. You don't want to give up something you started. You want to finish the right way,' Rice said Tuesday, Jan. 19.

Footballguys view: Nothing would surprise us, but it just doesn't seem like Rice is going to play in the NFL ever again.

Bills | Buffalo may have interest in Ray Rice    Wed Aug 19, 08:58 AM

Free-agent RB Ray Rice (Ravens) could perk the Buffalo Bills' interest after RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) was injured, according to sources.

Footballguys view: Rice has been desperate to get back into the league, but so far nobody has expressed much interest. The Bills now are desperate for running back help with four backs injured right now. They may take a long look at Rice.

Texans | Ray Rice may not be option for Houston    Thu Aug 13, 01:30 PM

Free-agent RB Ray Rice (Ravens) may not be an option for the Houston Texans because owner Bob McNair said he does not know if Rice is better than the running backs currently on the roster. McNair said he would talk with the players before he would consider pursing Rice.

Footballguys view: Rice is looking for a new job, but no teams outside of Houston and Cleveland have shown much interest. The Texans are scrambling at running back since Arian Foster went down. Alfred Blue should take over as the lead back, but guys like Chris Polk and undrafted rookie Kenny Hilliard are worth monitoring over the preseason.

Browns | Cleveland not very interested in Ray Rice    Wed Aug 12, 01:45 PM

Free-agent RB Ray Rice (Ravens) has been considered by the Cleveland Browns, but it appears they do not have much interest in signing him.

Footballguys view: Just when you thought Rice may get a shot with another team, now it appears like the Browns don't have that much interest. Rice may not be washed up talent wise, but teams aren't falling all over themselves to sign him. We'll see if he can concvince someone to add him as camp rolls on.

Browns | CLE interested in Ray Rice    Tue Aug 11, 05:40 PM

Free-agent RB Ray Rice (Ravens) has drawn interest from the Cleveland Browns. Head coach Mike Pettine said there have been discussions about signing Rice.

Footballguys view: Finally a team showing interest in Rice. The Browns have Isaiah Crowell and rookie Duke Johnson as their likely top two running backs. If added, Rice could come in and compete for the starting job.

Free-agent RB Ray Rice (Ravens) isn't of interest to the Arizona Cardinals.

NFL | Ray Rice wants to retire the right way    Tue Aug 4, 08:00 PM

Free-agent RB Ray Rice (Ravens) told ESPN's Jemele Hill in an interview that aired Tuesday, Aug. 4, he wants a chance to retire after playing. 'I have a lot of hope and faith that I'll be able to hang 'em up the right way ... That's what's keeping me going. That's what's keeping me working. My wife and my kid believe in me. They're pushing me harder sometimes than I can push myself. I just want to give it all,' Rice said.

Footballguys view: Rice has not received any interest on the open market so far. The Cowboys haven't shown interest, but we'll see if the Texans show interest now that Arian Foster (groin) is going to need surgery.

Cowboys | Dallas still not interested in veterans    Tue Jul 28, 08:50 PM

The Dallas Cowboys are still not interested in veteran RBs Chris Johnson and Ray Rice, following the release of RB Ryan Williams Tuesday, July 28.

Footballguys view: Guys like Johnson and Rice want to get back into the league, but at this time they're on the outside looking in. The Cowboys are likely to have a strong rushing attack regardless of who is lining up in the backfield. The Cowboys remain confident in RBs Joseph Randle, Darren McFadden and Lance Dunbar.

NFL | Teams interested in Ray Rice    Fri Jul 24, 05:23 PM

Updating a previous report, free-agent RB Ray Rice (Ravens) has drawn interest from NFL teams, but those teams are supposedly reluctant to sign him, according to sources.

Footballguys view: Rice might have more left in the tank than some think. Any team interested in Rice would take a risk in the public relations department. Rice has been trying to get back in the league, and there's a good chance he could end up on a roster before the start of the regular season.

Free-agent RB Ray Rice (Ravens) has been working out daily to get in shape in case a NFL team becomes interested. Rice and his supporters have been contacting teams to try to get him another opportunity.

Footballguys view: Rice may have more left in the tank than some think. We may see a team show interest in Rice if injuries hit the running back position during training camp.

NFL | Ray Rice not hearing from teams    Mon Jul 6, 01:08 PM

Free-agent RB Ray Rice (Ravens) has not received interest from teams this offseason.

Footballguys view: There is a belief that Rice has been basically taken out of consideration for the NFL even though he can still play at a high level. His potential PR hit might be too much for teams to take right now, and if he had another domestic violence incident, the team could never live it down. Perhaps with some more time passed a team will give him a chance, but in the meantime, Rice isn't getting any younger. It might be time to drop him in typical dynasty leagues.

Bills | BUF not interested in Ray Rice    Sun May 31, 02:26 PM

Free-agent RB Ray Rice (Ravens) is not a player the Buffalo Bills are interested in signing, according to a source.

Footballguys view: BREAKING: the team with one of the best running backs in the league (LeSean McCoy) and incredible depth at the position (Fred Jackson, Bryce Brown, Karlos Williams, Anthony Dixon) are unlikely to have interest in a back who is no longer what he used to be and didn't play football last year. It would be truly shocking if a team with a stacked depth chart at running back like the Bills would have interest in Rice.

Cowboys | Dallas unlikely to add Ray Rice    Fri May 22, 11:31 AM

Free-agent RB Ray Rice (Ravens) could be a consideration for the Dallas Cowboys in free agency, speculates The Dallas Morning News' Jon Machota. He cites Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones' willingness to give players a second chance and Dallas' continued search for running back depth. However, Machota notes the chance of Dallas pursuing Rice is unlikely due to Rice's time away from the game, drastic on-field decline in 2013, and Jones having to eventually draw a line in the sand with forgiving off-field incidents.

Footballguys view: We believe Dallas could be a landing spot for Rice, but there's certainly a lot to work through. Rice did have a down 2013, but fantasy owners need to realize that he looked like the player he used to be during the 2014 preseason. Rice averaged 7.6 yards per carry over two preseason games. The time away could help his body heal, and Rice could be the best option on the open market.

NFL | Ray Rice's record cleared    Thu May 21, 10:55 AM

Free-agent RB Ray Rice (Ravens) had his legal record cleared of the domestic violence charge after finishing a pretrial diversion program as part of the conditions of his sentencing for the 2014 legal matter.

Footballguys view: This might clear his legal record, but his public reputation remains heavily tarnished. Will teams add Rice and take the public relations hit? Rice was struggling a bit before all this happened, how much does he have left in the tank? At this time, Rice has an ADP of RB65 (13.07) in 12-team PPR leagues.

NFL | Ray Rice hasn't had workouts    Tue Mar 24, 05:39 PM

Free-agent RB Ray Rice (Ravens) hasn't had a workout with a team since he was released by the Baltimore Ravens after his domestic violence case.

Footballguys view: We're not sure Rice will get a ton of interest on the open market. Running backs can be found without the baggage that Rice will bring. He's not the player he used to be, and Rice may have to wait until after the season begins (and injuries hit) to get another opportunity.

NFL | Ray Rice apologizes to fans    Fri Feb 13, 12:13 PM

Free-agent RB Ray Rice issued an apology to the Baltimore Ravens and their fans Friday, Feb. 13. 'To all the kids who looked up to me, I'm truly sorry for letting you down, but I hope it's helped you learn that one bad decision can turn your dream into a nightmare," Rice said. "There is no excuse for domestic violence, and I apologize for the horrible mistake I made. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me, and I hope to make a positive difference in people's lives by raising awareness of this issue.'

Footballguys view: America is the land of second chances. Rice will get his second chance this year, but where is a mystery. This is a strong RB class in both the draft and free agency. There will be a team interested in adding Rice, but it will come at a reduced price for the aging veteran.

Former Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice settled his grievance with the team Thursday, Jan. 15. Financial compensation was undisclosed.

Lions | Lions not interested in Ray Rice    Mon Dec 1, 01:30 PM

Free-agent RB Ray Rice (Ravens) is not a player the Detroit Lions have considered signing, according to head coach Jim Caldwell. Caldwell said he expects Rice will sign with a team at some point.

Footballguys view: Caldwell worked as the Ravens offensive coordinator as they went on their Super Bowl run a couple of years ago. The Lions have a fine trio of backs in Joique Bell, Theo Riddick and Reggie Bush. There's no room (and no need) for Rice in Detroit.

NFL | Ray Rice could return within a month    Sun Oct 19, 10:11 AM

Free-agent RB Ray Rice (Ravens) could be reinstated by the NFL by mid-November after a scheduled appeal hearing, which would allow him to sign with another team. There is no guarantee a team would sign him right away, though.

Footballguys view: The big question is whether any NFL team would sign Rice with the furor and outrage about him so fresh in the minds of NFL fans. He certainly looked ready for a bounceback season in the preseason before he was released. Dynasty owners who don't have a moral objection should consider adding Rice if he is on the waiver wire.
