Redskins | Portis hopes to play Week 10 Tue Nov 10, 06:40 PM
Rick Maese, of The Washington Post, reports Washington Redskins RB Clinton Portis (concussion) said during a radio interview that he hopes to play in Week 10 but it is too early to tell if he will be medically cleared to play.
| Our view: Portis is unlikely to be 100% by Sunday, so if he does play the Redskins could bring him back slowly from this injury. Ladell Betts played well this last week, and the entire team seemed to play better when he was in the game. Betts could have a bigger role in the future even if Portis is completely healthy. |

Redskins | Portis not worried about running game Thu Oct 22, 02:23 PM
Jason Reid, of The Washington Post, reports Washington Redskins RB Clinton Portis said he is not worried about the running game with team consultant Sherman Lewis now calling the plays. 'It ain't hard, I mean, you either run gut, counter, stretch, toss, dive, or draw,' Portis said. 'You can call it however you want to call it, but them are the only runs in football. For him to be an offensive coordinator for as long as he has, I'm sure he knows that as well. Maybe it's the formations. I don't know why he would say that, but I don't think it's too hard to call the running game.'

Rick Maese and Mike Wise, of The Washington Post, report Washington Redskins RB Clinton Portis said he hopes he will not have to block more than usual in Week 6 because of injuries to the offensive line but is willing to do it if necessary.

Redskins | Portis says he is fine with Sellers Wed Oct 14, 09:11 AM
ESPN.com reports Washington Redskins RB Clinton Portis said his recent exchange with FB Mike Sellers was a minor incident that was blown out of proportion. Portis likened the altercation to two brothers having a disagreement and said the two are fine now. 'You know, when you work with somebody year-round, every day, you know, Mike always (feels) like that big brother-little brother role. I think Mike being an older cat and a veteran cat, Mike always (wants) the big brother role, and sometimes little brother and big brother (are) not gonna co-exist.'
| Our view: A football team is like a family, and sometimes families fight. Both guys probably feel better for getting this issue out in the open. The duo also must realize the team has more problems than just their issue. If the Redskins continue to stumble this season, we could see a lot of changes on the team next year. |

Redskins | Portis struggling Mon Oct 12, 08:22 PM
Michael Lombardi, of The National Football Post, reports Washington Redskins RB Clinton Portis has averaged 3.3 yards per carry in his last nine games. During Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers, who were the worst run defense in the NFL, he averaged just 3.0 yards per carry.
| Our view: Portis isn't yet 30, but he's plummeting over the cliff that most running backs hit around that age. He came into the league young and he has endured too many 300+ carry seasons during his tenure with the Redskins. He'll still have RB2 fantasy value this year because he's the first, second, and third option in the red zone, but his days as a starting NFL running back are numbered. |

The Associated Press reports Washington Redskins RB Clinton Portis had 19 carries for 57 yards with a rushing touchdown Week 5. He also had two receptions for 17 receiving yards with another touchdown in the game.
| Our view: Portis had trouble finding room to run against Carolina but broke free on two scoring plays. |

Redskins | Portis, Sellers have heated exchange Sat Oct 10, 11:13 AM
Jason Reid, of The Washington Post, reports Washington Redskins RB Clinton Portis and FB Mike Sellers had a heated exchange this week over Portis's frustration with Sellers's blocking this season. No punches were thrown during the argument, which occurred Monday, Oct. 5, but the players had to be separated and restrained, according to multiple sources.
| Our view: According to the sources, Sellers confronted Portis after learning the running back requested to have Sellers removed from the game during Week 4. We'd like to see Portis dress up as Southeast Jerome the next time he gets in a fight with Mike Sellers. |

Redskins | Zorn says team not signing RB Chris Henry Tue Oct 6, 01:16 PM
The Washington Post reports on their twitter feed that on his radio show, Jim Zorn says the Redskins will not be signing ex-Titans RB Chris Henry.

Redskins | Portis questionable for Week 4 Fri Oct 2, 02:21 PM
Jason Reid, of The Washington Post, reports Washington Redskins head coach Jim Zorn said RB Clinton Portis (calf) is questionable for Week 4.
| Our view: Ladell Betts and Marcus Mason split first team reps this week and Zorn would likely roll with whichever gets off to a hotter start if Portis cannot go. There were hints earlier in the week that Portis was likely to go, but he's now a game-time decision at best after not practicing all week. |

Redskins | Portis practicing Friday Fri Oct 2, 12:07 PM
CBSSports.com reports Washington Redskins RB Clinton Portis (calf) is participating in practice Friday, Oct. 2.

Redskins | Portis misses practice Thursday Thu Oct 1, 04:16 PM
Ryan O'Halloran, of The Washington Times, reports Washington Redskins RB Clinton Portis (calf) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 1.
| Our view: Portis is expected to start in week 4, but once again we're seeing injuries catch up to him. The Redskins may try to give Ladell Betts some more carries to help keep Portis fresh. We could also see the Redskins use Anthony Alridge as a change-of-pace third-down back. |

Redskins | Portis misses practice Wednesday Wed Sep 30, 09:00 PM
Washington Redskins RB Clinton Portis (calf) missed the team's practice Wednesday, Sept. 30.
| Our view: Portis is already having trouble with bone spurs in his ankles. It's clear that he's not going to approach his old form this year. Deal him if you can get anything near the value that usually goes with his name in fantasy leagues. |

Redskins | Portis slowed by bone spurs in ankles Tue Sep 29, 06:56 PM
Jason Reid, of the Washington Post, reports that Redskins RB Clinton Portis has been slowed by bone spurs in his ankles. When Reid asked if Portis was exaggerating the injury to avoid practice, he was told that it is "definitely not one of Portis's ploys to avoid practice and he's doing things he has never done in an effort to remain in the lineup."
| Our view: Portis isn't thirty yet, but that doesn't mean that his body isn't used up. If you can cash in something approaching his name brand value entering the season, do it, because Portis and the Redskins aren't going anywhere this season. |

Redskins | Alridge may get some playing time Sat Sep 26, 07:20 PM
Jason Reid, from the Washington Post, notes that in a highly unusual move, the Redskins are carrying five running backs on the roster: Clinton Portis, Anthony Alridge, Ladell Betts, Marcus Mason and Rock Cartwright. Portis, Betts, Mason and Cartwright are considered tackle-to-tackle guys. Alridge is the only member of the group with home-run potential, and he moved ahead of Mason and Cartwright as soon as he was re-signed.
| Our view: Reid also thinks that Betts grip on the third down role isn't as strong as it was before the opener. He has barely produced when called upon, and doesn't have the same type of big play ability that Alridge has. However, if Portis were to miss time due to injury Betts would get first crack at the starting job. |

David Elfin, of The Washington Times, reports Washington Redskins RB Clinton Portis (ankles) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 25. He is listed as questionable for Week 3, but the Redskins head coach Jim Zorn expects Portis to play.
| Our view: The matchup against the Lions is too good to pass up as long as Portis is active, but if he isn't, Ladell Betts becomes an immediate must-start. |
