Head coach Mike Shanahan doesn't think Portis' career is over, however. 'I don't think there's any question about it,' Shanahan said. 'He's got such a strong will. It all depends on does he come back a hundred percent? Does he want to come back and play? He's got that inner drive that most people don't have. He wants to compete. But obviously, he's got to get well.'

Washington Redskins RB Clinton Portis (groin) suffered a setback during practice Thursday, Nov. 11, and sat out most of practice, according to The Washington Post's Jason Reid. Portis is hoping to return to action in Week 10 against the Philadelphia Eagles. However, he has experience swelling and soreness in his groin this week. 'He had a good day yesterday and (he's) a little bit sore today. Didn't want to over push it, but we've got a few more days to practice and see how he feels. There's a chance. We'll just monitor it day by day,' head coach Mike Shanahan said.
