Seahawks | Seattle makes roster cuts    Sun Sep 3, 12:50 AM

The Seattle Seahawks released QB Trevone Boykin, WR Cyril Grayson, DT Tylor Harris, WR Kenny Lawler, TE Marcus Lucas, FB Marcel Reece, WR Darreus Rogers, WR Rodney Smith, TE Tyrone Swoopes and WR Kasen Williams Saturday, Sept. 2.

Footballguys view: Austin Davis will back up Russell Wilson. Williams is a bit of a surprise after a strong preseason but he was claimed by Cleveland and could quickly bid to be their #3 receiver.

Seahawks | Kenny Lawler adds some weight    Sun May 14, 05:31 PM

Seattle Seahawks WR Kenny Lawler has added around 15 to 17 pounds since last season and was impressive during the team's rookie minicamp this weekend, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

Footballguys view: Lawler was a seventh round pick last year and spent his rookie year on the Seahawks practice squad. A lanky possession receiver out of Cal, Lawler needed to bulk up in order to play with better strength after the catch. He'll be hard pressed to make the team again this year.

Seahawks | Kenny Lawler has great hands    Wed May 11, 12:02 AM

Seattle Seahawks WR Kenny Lawler converted 72.7% of the time on contested catches last season at California, according to NFL.com's Matt Harmon. Lawler's 4.64-second 40-yard dash time could be a big reason he fell to the seventh round in the 2016 NFL Draft. 'He had a great camp,' Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said. 'He showed us that he has a marvelous catching range. We thought he had as good of hands as anyone in the draft and felt very fortunate to get him where we did, and he had the opportunities and he showed it. He made plays down the field, made plays in traffic, running around. I think he has a big upside in terms of development.'

Footballguys view: Lawler is a thin receiver, but he clearly has good "my ball" mentality. He can make plays in the red zone, and that may be a way he stands out in camp for the Seahawks. The seventh-round pick may find himself on the 53-man roster if he proves himself during the preseason.
