Saints | Three wide receivers worked out Tue Nov 17, 07:50 PM
Adam Caplan, of Scout.com, reports the New Orleans Saints have worked out free-agent WR Aaron Kelly (Falcons), free-agent WR Nick Moore (Vikings) and free-agent WR Taurus Johnson (Lions).
Footballguys view: Lance Moore's injury is lingering, so the Saints are looking for some help here. Yes, Nick Moore is Lance's brother, but he doesn't have the same type of game. Nick Moore once caught 20 passes in a game against Michigan, but he doesn't have the consistent hands that NFL teams desire. Aaron Kelly is a big target, but still raw as a route runner. His potential is huge if he could ever get the time to develop as a pro. Taurus Johnson might be the best receiver out of this group. He can get into his routes quickly, and changes direction without losing much speed. He can get separation out of his routes, but he is a little slender and can be pushed around off the line of scrimmage. |

Falcons | T. Brown, Ferguson among roster cuts Sat Sep 5, 05:22 PM
The Atlanta Falcons have announced the release of WR Troy Bergeron, RB Thomas Brown, OL Mike Butterworth, WR Robert Ferguson, LB Robert James, WR Aaron Kelly, DE Maurice Lucas, CB William Middleton, TE Jason Rader, QB D.J. Shockley, OG Jose Valdez, DT Vance Walker and LB Jamie Winborn.
Footballguys view: Jason Snelling made the final roster over Brown, and he could be a very valuable waiver wire pickup if something happens to Michael Turner. Snelling is a RB/FB 'tweener, and would be the power back the Falcons would team up with Jerious Norwood in case of emergency. Snelling even played a little Wildcat QB last year for Atlanta. Marty Booker and Eric Weems made the team as the fourth and fifth wide receivers. |

Falcons | A. Kelly candidate for practice squad Sun May 31, 02:03 PM
D. Orlando Ledbetter, of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reports Atlanta Falcons WR Aaron Kelly is a candidate to make the team's practice squad.
Footballguys view: Aaron Kelly is going to compete with WR Troy Bergeron for a roster spot. Kelly is a huge target at 6'4", has a large wingspan, and has a tremendous vertical leap. He does a good job of hauling in passes over the middle, and can take a big hit while holding onto the ball. Kelly is an effective route runner, but his lack of speed will hinder his productivity in the NFL. He may have a season or two on the practice squad before we see him on the field as a receiver. |

Falcons | Kelly agrees to terms Mon Apr 27, 01:12 AM
The State reports the Atlanta Falcons have come to terms on a deal with undrafted rookie free-agent WR Aaron Kelly (Clemson). Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Like many players skill players from Clemson, Aaron Kelly was expected to have a huge senior season - and like the rest of his teammates he did not. Kelly is a big WR with a good vertical and large catch radius. He is raw as a route runner, and will take time to develop - but he has natural ability and his upside is huge. |
