The New York Jets announced Wednesday, Nov. 9, that they have signed free-agent WR Dexter M. Jackson (Panthers) to their practice squad.

Footballguys view: Jackson was overdrafted (Bucs, 2nd round, 2008) when he came out of Appalachian State, but could help the team as a KR or PR. He was signed by the Virginia Destroyers of the UFL as he waited to get back to the NFL.

Buccaneers | D. Jackson released    Mon Aug 31, 08:56 AM

Jim Flynn, of PewterReport.com, reports the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have released WR Dexter M. Jackson.

Footballguys view: Jackson never got on track, despite being a second-round pick last year. He has great speed, but he was inconsistent as a receiver and returner, and undrafted free agent Clifton Smith emerged in the return game last year, making Jackson expendable. The fact that he couldn't make the WR-poor Bucs at receiver is a bad sign for his future.

Eagles | Jackson catching everything    Wed Aug 5, 10:11 PM

Bob Glauber, from Newsday, reports on his twitter feed - Best player in #Eagles camp: DeSean Jackson. Catching everything.

Footballguys view: Jackson got off to a fast start during his rookie season and quickly earned the trust of his quarterback Donovan McNabb. The Eagles added several weapons to the passing game this offseason, but the most dangerous threat is DeSean Jackson. Fantasy owners should be excited about Jackson avoiding the sophomore slump and producing even better numbers that what he did in 2008.

Buccaneers | Jackson shedding cornerbacks, reputation as a bust    Sun Aug 2, 05:34 PM

Scott Reynolds, from PewterReport.com, notes WR Dexter Jackson gets the nod for being the biggest surprise on Saturday as last year's second-round pick is trying to do his best to shrug off the bust label he wore through a disastrous rookie season in 2008. Jackson certainly shrugged off those pesky cornerbacks on Saturday, blowing past cornerbacks Aqib Talib and Elbert Mack on slant passes in 1-on-1's and diving past cornerback Kyle Arrington and safety C.J. Byrd for a touchdown in the morning practice, or diving for a 20-yard sideline grab or racing 40 down the sidelines for a bomb in the night practice at Raymond James Stadium.

Footballguys view: Jackson accelerates quickly and uses that to gain separation from cornerbacks. His hands are inconsistent, and he was very raw as a route runner coming out of Appalachian State. He's currently sixth on the depth chart, but has the potential to be a good slot receiver in the NFL. Jackson is going to have to keep showing improvement in his game in order to get on the field in the regular season.

Buccaneers | Campbell, Jackson could compete for No. 3 WR job    Thu Jul 9, 04:18 PM

Buccaneers.com reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Kelly Campbell and WR Dexter M. Jackson could compete for the No. 3 wide receiver job during training camp.

Footballguys view: Campbell was once a decent deep threat for the Vikings, but hasn't been heard from for a while after a stint in the CFL. Jackson struggled mightily in his rookie year and it looks like the Bucs reached badly for him in the second round last year.

Buccaneers | Gruden said team reached for Jackson last season    Wed Apr 22, 06:35 PM

Ira Kaufman, of The Tampa Tribune, reports former Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Jon Gruden said the Buccaneers reached for WR Dexter M. Jackson in the second round last year.

Footballguys view: File this under "ya think!?!" Dexter Jackson looked overwhelmed on the field as both a receiver and a returner. Perhaps he could continue to develop but the Buccaneers don't appear to have much faith in him. They could select more WRs in the draft this weekend, perhaps even a Darrius Heyward-Bey in the 1st round.
