Saints | P.J. Hill to be placed on IR    Mon Aug 23, 03:04 PM

The New Orleans Saints have waived injured RB P.J. Hill (triceps) and will be placed on Injured Reserve if he clears waivers, reports Mike Triplett, of the New Orleans Times-Picayune. He suffered a triceps injury during the team's preseason game Saturday, Aug. 21.

Footballguys view: It's an unfortunate end to Hill's season. He had an opportunity to earn some playing time in the regular season after third-string RB Lynell Hamilton was lost for the year.

Saints | P.J. Hill and Chris Ivory to see extended time    Thu Aug 12, 12:56 PM

New Orleans Saints RBs P.J. Hill and Chris Ivory will see extensive playing time in the preseason opener with RB Lynell Hamilton (knee) lost for the season due to a torn ACL, reports Sheldon Mickles, of The Advocate.

Footballguys view: Hill was with the Saints last year and has the ability to be an effective running back in this league. He's a big back, but runs with more elusiveness than one would expect from a player his size. The Saints may look to sign a veteran free agent like Ladell Betts, but Hill has a better skill set and is younger. He could be the player to benefit most from Lynell Hamilton's season ending knee injury.

Saints | P.J. Hill claimed    Tue May 4, 05:52 PM

The New Orleans Saints claimed free-agent RB P.J. Hill (Redskins) off waivers, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune's Jeff Duncan.

Footballguys view: Hill spent six weeks on the Saints practice squad last year, so it's not a surprise they've picked him back up after he was let go by the Redskins. Hill is a big back who runs like a tailback. However, in the preseason last year he ran with more authority between the tackles and did not shy away from contact. With Mike Bell in Philadelphia the Saints were in need of more depth in their RB corps.

Redskins | Five players released    Mon May 3, 02:27 PM

According to Redskins.com's Matt Terl, the Washington Redskins have released RB Anthony Alridge, RB P.J. Hill, WR Marko Mitchell, WR James Robinson and DL Anthony Montgomery.

Footballguys view: With the addition of players like Willie Parker, Joey Galloway, and Bobby Wade it made younger guys like P.J. Hill and Marko Mitchell expendable. Some of these players could be invited back for training camp if injuries strike. A team like New Orleans might try and re-sign P.J. Hill for added depth in the RB corps.

Redskins | Hill signed to practice squad    Wed Dec 30, 11:37 AM

The Philadelphia Eagles announced Wednesday, Dec. 30, that the Washington Redskins have signed RB P.J. Hill off the Eagles' practice squad.

Footballguys view: Hill has bounced around the league in his rookie season. He was with the Saints during preseason, and showed some flashes when he got an opportunity to play. The Eagles picked him up, but he was only a practice squad player. Now the Redskins may give him a shot to see what he can do because they've had so many injuries to their RB corps. Hill is a big back that is hard to bring down when he gets a head of steam.

Eagles | Hill waived     Mon Dec 14, 06:06 PM

Adam Caplan, of Scout.com, reports the Philadelphia Eagles have waived RB P.J. Hill, according to a source.

Footballguys view: With Brian Westbrook returning to the field it means the Eagles don't need as much depth at the running back position. Perhaps the team could re-sign him to the practice squad if he clears waivers.

The Philadelphia Eagles have declared LB Akeem Jordan, RB Brian Westbrook, WR DeSean Jackson, QB Kevin Kolb, WR Kevin Curtis, OL Mike McGlynn, RB P.J. Hill, OT Shawn Andrews inactive for Week 13.

Footballguys view: Jeremy Maclin and Jason Avant become great plays with Jackson out against the weak Falcons secondary.

The Philadelphia Eagles have declared LB Akeem Jordan, RB Brian Westbrook, CB Geoff Pope, WR Kevin Curtis, QB Kevin Kolb, OL Mike McGlynn, RB P.J. Hill, OG Stacy Andrews inactive for Week 12.

Eagles | Week 10 Inactives    Sun Nov 15, 03:31 PM

The Philadelphia Eagles have declared LB Akeem Jordan, CB Jack Ikegwuonu, OT Jason Peters, QB Kevin Kolb, WR Kevin Curtis, OL Mike McGlynn, RB P.J. Hill, SS Quintin Demps inactive for Week 10.

Footballguys view: Jason Peters was unable to go after pregame warmups and the Eagles will have to shake the line up to replace him. Brian Westbrook and LeSean McCoy are expected to split carries evenly today, but Westbrook is a risky start with his injury issues.

Eagles | Hill signs    Wed Oct 28, 04:48 PM

The Philadelphia Eagles signed free-agent RB P.J. Hill (Saints) Wednesday, Oct. 28.

Footballguys view: P.J. Hill is a big back, but he doesn't generate much power when he runs. He runs like a smaller back, and looks for cutback lanes rather than just lowering his shoulders and punishing a defense. With the status of Brian Westbrook uncertain the Eagles are merely compiling talent in case of emergency.

Saints | Seven signed to practice squad    Sun Sep 6, 08:29 PM

Pat Yasinskas, of ESPN.com, reports the New Orleans Saints have re-signed free agents WR Adrian Arrington, DT DeMario Pressley, OG Tim Duckworth, CB Danny Gorrer, RB P.J. Hill, OT Jermey Parnell and WR Matt Simon to their practice squad.

Footballguys view: P.J. Hill had a good preseason, but we're not fans of his long term value. Hill is a big back, but he runs like a much smaller back would. He doesn't win enough collisions, and tries to get cute when running the football instead of being decisive and tough.

Saints | Announce roster moves    Sat Sep 5, 06:29 PM

Pat Yasinskas, of ESPN.com, reports the New Orleans Saints have waived WR Adrian Arrington, OG Nathan Bennett, OT Michael Brown, C Digger Bujnoch, RB Herb Donaldson, OG Tim Duckworth, CB Danny Gorrer, WR Skyler Green, DT Earl Heyman, RB P.J. Hill, TE Martrez Milner, OT Jermey Parnell, DT DeMario Pressley, WR Courtney Roby, WR Matt Simon and LB Anthony Waters. The Saints also terminated the contracts of OT Anthony Davis and DE Paul Spicer.

Footballguys view: Lynell Hamilton has made the team as the fourth RB. We like his instincts for running the football, in addition to his ability to break arm tackles. Hamilton could have value if Mike Bell is injured or ineffective.

Saints | Hill scores twice Saturday    Sat Aug 29, 08:08 PM

New Orleans Saints RB P.J. Hill rushed for 83 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries in the team's preseason game Saturday, Aug. 29.

Footballguys view: P.J. Hill is trying to make his case as an undrafted free agent, and is currently listed as fifth on the depth chart in New Orleans. He is a bigger back, but runs like a smaller back, and doesn't generate as much power as he should. With Mike Bell's emergence, Hill could only rise up to fourth on the depth chart - if he can outperform Lynell Hamilton.

Saints | Agreed to terms with five undrafted free agents    Tue Apr 28, 07:56 PM

Mike Triplett, of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, reports the New Orleans Saints have agreed to terms with undrafted free-agent RB Herb Donaldson (Western Illinois), P.J. Hill (Wisconsin), QB Patrick Cowan (UCLA), C Alex Fletcher (Stanford) and CB Reggie Jones (Portland State), according to reports and sources. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: P.J. Hill was once thought to be an up and coming RB after his first season at Wisconsin. His carries were cut short his next 2 seasons due to injuries and inconsistencies. Originally thought to be a late round pick, 2 recent DUI arrests caused him to fall to the ranks of the undrafted. He is a big back that runs more like a tailback, and doesn't have as much power as one would expect. If Hill can stay healthy, and stay out of trouble he could develop into a LenDale White-type of player.
