The Tennessee Titans have released RB Samkon Gado, according to Jim Wyatt, of The Tennessean.

Tennessee Titans RP LeGarrette Blount is a strong runner, but his knowledge of the playbook remains limited and he's still considered a liability in pass protection, according to The Nashville Tennessean's Jim Wyatt. That combination figures to make him a candidate for the eight-man practice squad over the roster. RP Samkon Gado has a good feel for the offense and is much more valuable on special teams. However, he does not catch the ball and might not have the upside of Blount. RP Alvin Pearman, who is also in competition for the last running back spot, does not have a single carry in the preseason. He has experience in the return game, but the team has other options for that role.

If he is not able to play, RBs Kenneth Darby and Samkon Gado will share carries while RB Chris Ogbonnaya could also see some carries.

Jim Thomas, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports that RB Kenneth Darby has supplanted Samkon Gado as the backup to Steven Jackson. Darby had worked as the #2 in practice the previous week and even got in the game vs. the Redskins in some two RB sets.

Jim Thomas, from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports running backs DeShaun Foster and Gary Russell were among the five players working out Tuesday. The group also included fullback-running back Carey Davis and linebackers Tank Daniels and David Herron. The Rams routinely bring in players for workouts during the regular season, and general manager Billy Devaney indicated that no signings were imminent for any of this week's visitors.
