Week 7: vs Seattle Seahawks

All RB vs SEA

FBG says: Tough matchup. What was once a league-wide joke of a running game has experienced something of a rebirth lately. Giants running backs averaged just 2.88 yards per carry and 41.3 per game over the season's first 3 weeks, but have leapt to 4.64 and 123.7 over the last 3. Of course, the true expectation lies somewhere in the middle of that wide range, but there's reason for optimism. Orleans Darkwa has been sensational over the past two weeks, while rookie Wayne Gallman has looked strong as a complement. And the interior of the line, built for run blocking, has improved by leaps and bounds with D.J. Fluker in the lineup. This may not be the most trustworthy group, but it's one that just showed it could spin real success against a dominant run defense. Seattle's run defense has been surprisingly pedestrian (or worse) on the stat sheet in 2017. They've allowed the seventh-most rushing yards in football, as well as the third-worst per-carry average. Those numbers are inflated somewhat by running quarterbacks and gadget receivers, though; the Seahawks have been stout against most running backs. Ty Montgomery, Derrick Henry, Frank Gore, and Todd Gurley have managed just 3.40 yards per rush in this matchup. They've been gashed twice, of course, by Carlos Hyde and DeMarco Murray, mostly on the backs of long runs - 68% of their 239 combined yards came from 3 plays. This is definitely not the prohibitive unit it once was, but it still flashes dominance and offers more resistance than the raw numbers suggest.
