Week 14: vs Dallas Cowboys
All RB vs DAL
Mark and Joe say: Tough matchup. Way back in Week One, the Giants hung the only loss of the season on Dallas, 20-19 - Rashad Jennings was the lead back (then as now) with 18/75/0 rushing and two targets for 1/3/0 receiving - Shane Vereen (6/38/0 rushing with five targets for 3/23/0 receiving) was the change of pace back in those early days of the season. He has since spent a stint on IR (triceps injury) - though he started practicing on November 30 he still hasn't been activated (that could happen anytime up to 21 days after the 30th).
Two weeks ago Jennings posted 15/55/0 rushing with two targets for 2/4/0 receiving at Cleveland. Paul Perkins (9/29/0 rushing with two targets for 2/14/0) was the mix-in of the week, while Sterling Shepard (1/22/0) added an end-around and Eli Manning kneeled for 2/-2/0 rushing. All told, the Giants had 27/104/0 rushing, an improvement on their season average of 77.5 yards rushing per game (930 yards rushing and five rushing TDs so far this year over 12 games). Then last week, Pittsburgh held the Giants to 14/56/0 rushing - 7/38/0 for Perkins and 6/19/0 (with six targets for 6/34/1 receiving) flowing to Jennings. This looks like a two-headed, poor-performing rushing attack entering Week 14.
The Cowboys' rush defense averages just 82.2 yards allowed per game (second in the NFL) with a mere five rushing scores given out to date (also second in the NFL). Last week, Minnesota had 19/87/0 rushing; Washington had 19/56/0 rushing at Dallas two weeks ago. From Week 10 to Week 13 of regular season (the last four weeks, but includes 10 teams on byes during that time span - each team has at least three games played in the last four weeks), Dallas averages 16.4 fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs per game (15th-least in the NFL).
This is a tough matchup for the limping Giants' attack.
