General News (Fri Oct 24): did not practice on Friday and is questionable to play this weekend.
Week 8: vs Seattle Seahawks
Mark and Joe say: Neutral matchup. Carolina's offense went from finding a rhythm vs. Cincinnati (during a 37-37 OT tie game) to getting blown out (10-38 scored by the first team offense before the second-string tacked on a late TD to make it 17-38 in the crushing loss to Green Bay last week). Without Cam Newton running wild as he did against Cincinnati (17/107/1 two weeks ago, but just 7/41/0 rushing at Green Bay last week), Johnathan Stewart eked out 13/50/0 rushing (3.8 yards per carry) and 1/12/0 receiving, while Chris Ogbonnaya posted 5/17/0 rushing in a change-of-pace capacity. Aside from Newton occasional explosion there isn't much fantasy juice in this phase of the game for owners. The Seahawks defense has lost some of their Super Bowl luster as the team sits at 3-3 through six games played - Dallas hung 37/162/1 rushing on this club two games back and St. Louis posted 27/102/1 in their upset victory over the Seahawks last week. It's fair to say that the defensive front is in a funk as of late October. This looks like a neutral matchup between units that are currently struggling.
Recent Stats and Projections
Recent Game Summaries
2014 Week 5 vs CHI (8 / 24 / 1 rush, 0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Picked up off the street in midweek, Chris Ogbonnaya capitalized on a goal line opportunity to reach pay dirt, lowering his pads and driving the pile behind a good push from the line. Like Reaves, however, Ogbonnaya found little running room and was stymied by the Bears up front on his handful of touches.
2014 Week 7 vs GB (4 / 12 / 0 rush, 1 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Spelling Jonathan Stewart late on with the game out of reach, Chris Ogbannaya was stuffed on his handful of touches by a fired-up Packers defensive front seven that gave Carolina's offensive line fits all afternoon.
