Chiefs | Clyde Edwards-Helaire back for another year Tue Apr 2, 04:08 PM
Free-agent RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire (Chiefs) reportedly agreed to terms on a one-year contract to return to the Kansas City Chiefs on Tuesday, April 2. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.
Footballguys view: A former first-round pick, Edwards-Helaire had 1,100 yards from scrimmage with five total touchdowns as a rookie. But injuries and Isiah Pacheco's rise have relegated CEH to a minor role, and the Chiefs declined his fifth-year option last spring. Edwards-Helaire had 411 yards from scrimmage on 87 touches as the Chiefs won Super Bowl LVIII. In 48 games with 32 starts, Edwards-Helaire has recorded 1,845 yards rushing with 12 touchdowns. He's also caught 89 passes for 765 yards with seven TDs. |

Chiefs | Clyde Edwards-Helaire more involved in pass game Mon Dec 25, 04:38 PM
Kansas City Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire caught three passes for 42 yards against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 16. He also rushed for six yards on four carries during the game.
Footballguys view: The Chiefs fell behind, and they couldn't get back into the game against the Raiders. Edwards-Helaire was on the field for many passing downs as Isiah Pacheco was concussed and Jerick McKinnon was out. |

Chiefs | Clyde Edwards-Helaire ready to roll Sat Dec 23, 03:15 PM
Kansas City Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire (personal) was a full participant in practice on Saturday, Dec. 23, after not taking part the day before and carries no designation into Week 16.
Footballguys view: Edwards-Helaire has come through while starting RB Isaih Pacheco had to miss time. Now, Pacheco is back for Week 16 so Edwards-Helaire goes back to more of a reserve role. We like Pacheco as a low-end RB1 against the Raiders on Monday, so Edwards-Helaire is more of a 'what the heck' flex in Week 16. |

Chiefs | Clyde Edwards-Helaire posts 101 total yards Sun Dec 17, 04:53 PM
Kansas City Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire rushed for 37 yards on 13 carries against the New England Patriots in Week 15. He also caught four passes for 64 yards and one touchdown during the game.
Footballguys view: Edwards-Helaire had a 48-yard gain on an uncontested screen pass and skied to catch a Patrick Mahomes improvisational pass for his touchdown. If Isiah Pacheco can't return to the field next week as expected, Edwards-Helaire will be a flex play. |

Chiefs | Jerick McKinnon likely to see increased playing time Sat Dec 9, 08:52 AM
Kansas City Chiefs RB Jerick McKinnon will see pass-catching duties and could share carries at running back in Week 14's game against the Buffalo Bills with RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire, as a result of RB Isiah Pacheco (shoulder) having been ruled out.
Footballguys view: That sounds about right. McKinnon is a fine receiving weapon for the Chiefs, and they're a team that could spread it around to playmakers like him more often. Edwards-Helaire gets a big opportunity this week as the Chiefs lead back, but Fantasy GMs should look at him as an RB2/flex. McKinnon is in the RB4/deep flex level. |

Chiefs | Clyde Edwards-Helaire to start in Week 14 Sat Dec 9, 08:36 AM
Kansas City Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire will start at running back for Week 14's game against the Buffalo Bills, according to head coach Andy Reid.
Footballguys view: The former first-round pick lost his job to Pacheco last season. He's been injured often, and his career has been disappointing for the most part. That was then, and this is now. Edwards-Helaire has an opportunity to produce for the Chiefs this week in a big game against the Bills. We like him as an RB2/flex play in Week 14. |

Kansas City Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire (illness) returned to practice Wednesday, Aug. 9, after missing practice Tuesday, Aug. 8, because of an illness.
Footballguys view: Edwards-Helaire is back out there in a competitive running back room for the Chiefs. Isiah Pacheco is the starter, and Jerick McKinnon is the change-of-pace back. However, the buzz about rookie Deneric Prince cannot be denied. In fact, if Pacheco (who is coming back from shoulder surgery) gets banged up again, we might see Prince take over in this backfield. It's just something to keep in mind when drafting late and looking for 'sleeper' backs. |

Chiefs | Clyde Edwards-Helaire hoping for reset Thu Jul 20, 05:21 AM
Kansas City Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire said he worked with some of his assistant coaches from college this offseason to try to regain his top form. 'We worked on some of the things we did in college,' said Edwards-Helaire. 'Those are the guys who know me best. They watched who I was in college, figured out who I was throughout that time. They watched me in high school because they were the guys recruiting me. They kind of gave me pinpoints here and there and then we figured it out and worked on it.'
Footballguys view: The former first-round pick has been injured and inconsistent in his pro career, and last year a rookie seventh-round pick (Isiah Pacheco) took over as the Chiefs' starter. Edwards-Helaire is competing for snaps behind Pacheco, who is battling back from injury but is expected to be ready for Week 1. Jerick McKinnon is the primary change-of-pace back, but perhaps a motivated Edwards-Helaire can work his way into the mix. |

Chiefs | Clyde Edwards-Helaire making an impression Thu May 25, 01:33 PM
Kansas City Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire is in 'great shape' and stepping up' early in the offseason, according to ArrowheadPride.com's Pete Sweeney.
Footballguys view: Edwards-Helaire needs to do that as he looks to push Isiah Pacheco for snaps and carries in training camp. Pacheco took over in the backfield last year as Edwards-Helaire struggled with injuries and inconsistencies. The Chiefs did not pick up his fifth-year option, so the former first-round pick is in the final year of his contract with plenty to prove. |
Clyde Edwards-Helaire player page
Chiefs | No fifth-year option for Clyde Edwards-Helaire Tue May 2, 01:45 PM
Kansas City Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire will not have his fifth-year team option exercised, according to a source.
Footballguys view: It seems like just yesterday when Chiefs fans and Fantasy GMs were over the moon about the first-round running back that QB Patrick Mahomes wanted in the draft. Well, things change quickly around here and now Edwards-Helaire is not getting a fifth-year option making 2023 the final year of his contract with the team. Their lead back is 2022 seventh-round pick Isiah Pacheco, but Edwards-Helaire will be there for depth behind him on the bench. With Jerick McKinnon re-signed on Tuesday, that pushes CEH further down the depth chart. |
