An ACL injury cost him the entirety of the 2021 season, the Bears released him in 2022 and Cohen injured his Achilles' while training that year. Now he's healthy and looking for work. Perhaps some teams will show interest in the veteran change-of-pace back. |

We'll see how much Cohen can participate in practice when training camp opens up. When healthy, Cohen is the change-of-pace back behind starter David Montgomery. The Bears also added Damien Williams this offseason, and the former Chiefs starter would get a larger workload if Montgomery has to miss time. |

Yes, he's a nice change-of-pace back but starter David Montgomery seemed to thrive with a larger role once Cohen went down. Getting Cohen out there as a receiving back will reduce the production and fantasy potential of Montgomery in 2021. Stay tuned. |

''And to keep the wear-and-tear of the season off of you longer. I really slacked on that.'
| Footballguys view: Cohen is a small-but-compact player so injuries and durability are always going to be a concern. He didn't stand out in the Bears backfield in 2019, and many are blaming QB Mitchell Trubisky for the offensive woes. We'll see if Nick Foles can win the starting job from Trubisky in training camp and if that helps out the Bears offense. Cohen is a frequently targeted part of the passing game, and if more efficient as a pass-catcher we could see him pay off as a deep flex option in PPR leagues. |

Chicago Bears RB Tarik Cohen is part of the team's plans in the offseason to try to restore his performance after he averaged just 5.77 yards per reception last season. A player has only caught 70 balls and averaged fewer yards once in NFL history. Cohen also had nine drops. Cohen said his body deteriorated more - and faster - toward the end of the season. His hips were tight and, because of that, his lower back hurt. Cohen said he has been doing yoga and stretching more often this offseason.

The team is going to have a competition for the starting quarterback position so perhaps Nick Foles (if he wins the job) can help this team perform at a higher level on offense. 'I feel like I'm going to be doing the same things I was doing last year,' Cohen told SiriusXM NFL Radio on Thursday, June 20. 'My role is not going to change. I still have to be the receiving back, come in be the change of pace back, running the ball, be that speedy guy. I'm just prepared for anything however I get the ball.'

Cohen should get less than 100 carries, but his role is as a dangerous receiver out of the backfield. Projecting him for 70-plus catches again sounds about right.
