Cardinals | Dylan Cantrell to change positions    Mon Jun 1, 08:47 PM

Arizona Cardinals WR Dylan Cantrell is expected to move to tight end this upcoming season.

Footballguys view: The move to tight end has been speculated and is now official. Cantrell didn't play in the league last year but now gets another chance with his former college coach, Kliff Kingsbury, at Texas Tech. He's a freakish athlete and we'll be watching to see how this transition to tight end goes in crazy deep dynasty formats.

Cardinals | Arizona adds Dylan Cantrell    Mon Jun 1, 04:36 PM

Free-agent WR Dylan Cantrell (Chargers) signed with the Arizona Cardinals Monday, June 1. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: A sixth-round pick out of Texas Tech in the 2018 NFL Draft (Chargers), Cantrell is a player deep dynasty GMs have been monitoring. He's not overly quick or fast, but Cantrell knows how to use his 6'3" 226 pound frame to make tough catches. Cantrell is known for being a good blocker. It will be difficult for him to carve out a role with the Cardinals. His physical skill set is interesting but injuries have held him back.

Chargers | Dylan Cantrell could carve out role    Sat Apr 6, 09:33 PM

Los Angeles Chargers WR Dylan Cantrell has a 'clear path to significant playing time' in 2019, in the opinion of Ricky Henne of Chargers.com.

Footballguys view: Deep dynasty Fantasy GMs already know...and are waiting for...Cantrell based on his college career at Texas Tech. The 2018 sixth-round pick should have a larger role this year with Tyrell Williams (Raiders) moving on in free agency. He's not overly quick or fast, but Cantrell knows how to use his 6'3" 226 pound frame to make tough catches. He's going to compete with Travis Benjamin for third on the depth chart behind Keenan Allen and Mike Williams in 2019.

Chargers | Dylan Cantrell staying at WR    Sat Jun 16, 12:25 PM

Los Angeles Chargers general manager Tom Telesco said the team is not considering moving WR Dylan Cantrell to tight end.

Footballguys view: A sixth-round pick out of Texas Tech in the 2018 NFL draft, Cantrell measures in at 6'3" 226 pounds. He's not overly quick or fast, but Cantrell knows how to use his frame to box out smaller defenders. He also has good concentration when the pass is coming in. Cantrell is an interesting dynasty prospect in deeper leagues, and this year he's competing for a spot on the roster in a jam-packed Chargers WR corps.

Chargers | Five Chargers picks signed    Fri May 11, 08:04 PM

Los Angeles Chargers second-round draft choice LB Uchenna Nwosu, fourth-round draft choice LB/S Kyzir White, fifth-round draft choice OG Scott Quessenberry, sixth-round draft choice WR Dylan Cantrell and seventh-round draft choice RB Justin Jackson signed four-year contracts Friday, May 11. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Jackson is one of only six players in FBS history to have four straight seasons of at least 1,000 yards rushing. He had over 1,100 carries for Northwestern yet never missed a game due to injury. Jackson is not the biggest (199 pounds) or the fastest (4.50 40-yard dash), but he's tough and willing to grind inside. His 122 catches show that he can be quite successful as a receiver out of the backfield. The Chargers are looking for an upgrade or at least more competition from Austin Ekeler behind starter Melvin Gordon.

NFL | Three-cone drill highlights    Sat Mar 3, 05:17 PM

Texas Tech WR Dylan Cantrell tied Missouri WR J'Mon Moore to lead all wide receivers with a 6.56-second three-cone drill time Saturday, March 3, at the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine. Southern Methodist WR Courtland Sutton finished third with a 6.57-second run, followed by Indiana WR Simmie Cobbs (6.70) and Clemson WR Deon Cain (6.71).

Footballguys view: Moore, Cobbs, and Sutton are all big wide receivers, even by NFL standards, so having this kind of short-area quickness and lateral agility will stand out in a deep class of big receivers.

NFL | Long shuttle numbers of note    Sat Mar 3, 05:12 PM

Texas Tech WR Dylan Cantrell led all wide receivers with a 10.85-second 60-yard shuttle time Saturday, March 3, at the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine. Southern Methodist WR Courtland Sutton finished second with a 11.06-second run, followed by Maryland WR D.J. Moore (11.18), Indiana WR Simmie Cobbs (11.20) and Southern Methodist WR Trey Quinn (11.40).

Footballguys view: Cobbs is a surprise here among the best in this drill that shows lateral agility as a long, strong wide receiver who will make his money by winning balls in the air.

NFL | Short shuttle numbers of note    Sat Mar 3, 05:06 PM

Texas Tech WR Dylan Cantrell led all wide receivers with a 4.03-second 20-yard shuttle time Saturday, March 3, at the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine. Missouri WR J'Mon Moore finished second with a 4.04-second run, followed by Maryland WR D.J. Moore (4.07), Southern Methodist WR Courtland Sutton (4.11), Texas Tech WR Keke Coutee (4.15) and Penn State WR DaeSean Hamilton (4.15).

Footballguys view: Sutton is massive for a wide receiver and his three-cone will stand out. His tape shows quickness in his routes and running after the catch that maps to this rare combination of size and suddenness. J'Mon Moore also has length to make his three-cone evidence of a rare combination of physical abilities.

NFL | Dylan Cantrell posts strong numbers    Sat Mar 3, 04:40 PM

Texas Tech WR Dylan Cantrell (6-foot-3, 226 pounds) ran a 4.59-second 40-yard dash Saturday, March 3, at the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine. He lifted 18 reps (tied for 7th best) on the 225-pound bench press, reaching 38 1/2 inches (3rd best) in the vertical jump and 10-foot-10 (2nd best) in the broad jump.

Footballguys view: Cantrell was a physical freak outside of the 40 yard dash, which was still good for his size. He fits as a big slot/H-back with his top-end blocking ability, and modern NFL offenses will have a place for him. He might have climbed into the third day with this performance.
