Cardinals | Keenan Burton trying to turn heads    Mon May 14, 01:48 AM

Free-agent WR Keenan Burton (Rams) is one of 16 players working with the Arizona Cardinals during minicamp on a tryout basis.

Footballguys view: Burton failed to impress during his time with the Rams and is looking for a fresh start. His former college teammate Steve Johnson (Bills) has turned into a superstar while Burton will be fortunate to make a final roster.

The St. Louis Rams released WR Keenan Burton Tuesday, Sept. 7, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Jim Thomas.

Rams | Keenan Burton competing for roster spot    Thu Aug 5, 02:42 PM

St. Louis Rams WR Keenan Burton is competing for a roster spot during training camp but is fine with that because he believes competition brings out the best in him, reports Bill Coats, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The major concern with Burton is his health because of he coming off patellar tendon surgery from last season.

Footballguys view: Burton was a big play receiver at Kentucky, but his pro career has been marred by injuries and inconsistencies. We'll see if he can make more of an impact this season.

St. Louis Rams WR Keenan Burton (knee) was able to take part in team drills during the team's offseason workout Monday, May 24, according to Bill Coats, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Footballguys view: Burton has not developed his skill set in the pros, as injuries and inconsistencies have plagued his career. The Rams WR corps is perhaps the worst in the league, and they would be helped greatly if Burton started playing up to his potential.

Rams | May have gotten a steal in Laurent Robinson    Tue Jul 7, 05:22 PM

In an interview on our podcast "The Audible", D. Orlando Ledbetter - from the Atlanta Journal Constitution - commented how he thought the Rams may have gotten a steal when they traded for former Falcons WR Laurent Robinson.

Footballguys view: Ledbetter said that coach Robiskie prefers bigger wide receivers and with Harry Douglas playing the slot the team decided they could move on without Robinson. Now in St. Louis Robinson will at least be the slot receiver for the team. Only Donnie Avery is locked into the starting lineup, and Robinson will battle Keenan Burton for the other starting spot.

Bill Coats from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that wide receiver Keenan Burton (hamstring) and defensive lineman Kirston Pittman (heel) remain sidelined in OTAs.

Rams | Avery and Burton should start the season at WR1and WR2    Mon Jun 1, 09:27 PM

Stlouisrams.com is reporting as it stands, it appears second-year men Donnie Avery and Keenan Burton are all but sure things to sit atop the depth chart when the smoke has cleared. Laurent Robinson, acquired from Atlanta via trade before the draft, is also right in the mix.

Footballguys view: It's not outlandish to make this prediction, but it's June 1st so many things could happen before the start of the regular season. Behind Donnie Avery the Rams WR depth chart is wide open. Keenan Burton, Laurent Robinson, and rookie Brooks Foster could compete to start opposite Avery. Robinson is a real threat to Burton's spot, but rookie Brooks Foster might be used best working out of the slot. With this thin WR corps it's no wonder why the Rams want to be a run-heavy offense.

Rams | Burton sits out practice Thursday    Thu May 21, 10:42 PM

Bill Coats, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports St. Louis Rams WR Keenan Burton (hamstring) sat out the team's practice Thursday, May 21, because of a sore hamstring.

Footballguys view: The Rams are expecting big things from Keenan Burton in his 2nd season but he is not going to be handed the #2 WR job without a fight. The Rams traded the Falcons for Laurent Robinson and then they selected Brooks Foster in the 2009 NFL Draft. Robinson has big play ability but has had trouble staying healthy in his pro career. Foster was always a solid possession receiver at North Carolina but when Brandon Tate was lost for the season it was Foster that improved his game and became a threat opposite Hakeem Nicks. Burton needs to stay healthy because both of the WRs behind him will make a strong push for the starting lineup.

Jim Thomas, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports St. Louis Rams WR Donnie Avery and WR Keenan Burton were working for the most part as the team's starting wide receivers during passing plays at minicamp.

Footballguys view: The Rams want to move to more of a run heavy offense featuring Steven Jackson but they are expecting Donnie Avery and Keenan Burton to pick up the slack now that Torry Holt is in Jacksonville.
