Jaguars | Allen Patrick released    Tue May 25, 04:29 PM

The Jacksonville Jaguars have released RB Allen Patrick, according to Jaguars.com.

Footballguys view: The Jags had to make room for OG Justin Smiley, who they got in a trade from the Miami Dolphins. Patrick will likely best be remembered for backing up Adrian Peterson during their time together at Oklahoma.

Jaguars | Patrick signed    Wed Nov 25, 02:54 PM

Jaguars.com reports the Jacksonville Jaguars signed free-agent RB Allen Patrick (Giants) to their practice squad Wednesday, Nov. 25. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: The Giants know a thing or two about running back talent, so in really deep dynasty leagues we've had our eye on Patrick for quite some time. We saw him down at the Shrine Game in early 2008, and were impressed by his instincts for running the football. He was a backup to Adrian Peterson at Oklahoma after transferring from junior college and switching positions from safety to running back.

Giants | Patrick could be added from practice squad    Mon Sep 14, 04:31 PM

Ralph Vacchiano, of the New York Daily News, reports the New York Giants could sign practice squad RB Allen Patrick to their active roster before their Week 2 game.

Footballguys view: The Giants are dedicated to the ground game, so any back on their roster could have some fantasy value. That being said, Patrick is no Danny Ware, and the Giants would only activate him in case of an emergency if backup Ahmad Bradshaw goes down.

Giants | Patrick has a chance to impress    Sat Aug 15, 10:50 PM

The Newark Star-Ledger is reporting Allen Patrick, who had been fifth on the depth chart behind Brandon Jacobs, Ahmad Bradshaw, Danny Ware and Brown, will now have a much improved opportunity. Patrick, who signed with the Giants in May, was a seventh-round draft pick by the Ravens in 2008. "I feel like it's an opportunity knocking," Patrick said. "It helped me better my chances but, at the same time, that's one of our teammates."

Footballguys view: We pay very close attention to the Giants backfield because the team has a real eye for talent when it comes to running backs. Patrick was a backup to Adrian Peterson in college, and is known mostly as a speed back. The team could consider moving fullback Dwayne Wright back to his natural position of RB, but according to the report Tom Coughlin is hesitant to do that.

Giants | Four free agents signed    Sun May 10, 03:11 PM

Paul Schwartz, of the New York Post, reports the New York Giants have signed free agents WR Shaun Bodiford (Packers), RB Allen Patrick (Browns), LB Kelvin Smith (Dolphins) and TE George Wrighster (Jaguars). Terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Allen Patrick, the former Sooners back, was recently released by the Browns and will have a hard time making the team unless the RBs ahead of him on the depth chart get injured.
