Geoff Hobson, from Bengals.com, reports running back Kenny Watson gets the early nod in the derby to back up starter Cedric Benson and the rookies get the outside poles with Bernard Scott and Nebraska free agent Marlon Lucky listed behind Brian Leonard, DeDe Dorsey, and James Johnson.

| Footballguys view: We'll wait and see the extent of this injury but it's not the type of start Lucky wants to his career. Lucky is a versatile back that was thought of as a 3rd or 4th round pick after the 2007 season. His numbers dropped off in 2008 while playing in the spread hybrid offense ran by new Head Coach Bo Pellini. Lucky is a straight line runner that lacks the elusiveness to consistently make people miss. When he gets to the second level he loses too much speed in and out of his breaks to compile big yardage on a single play. |

The Cincinnati Bengals have announced they have signed undrafted free-agent OG Colin Dow (Montana), RB Marlon Lucky (Nebraska), CB Rico Murray (Kent State), S Tom Nelson (Illinois State), FB Chris Pressley (Wisconsin), WR David Richmond (San Jose State) and LB Dan Skuta (Grand Valley State). Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
| Footballguys view: Marlon Lucky looked uninterested during the week of practice for the 2008 Shrine Game, but he had a solid performance in the game. Marlon has a low center of gravity, runs with a good pad level, and does a good job of picking and sliding down the line of scrimmage. When he gets to the second level he loses too much speed in and out of his breaks to compile big yardage on a single play. David Richmond is only beginning to learn the WR position (he's only been playing football for 3 years), but the raw ability is there. He has good initial quickness, some rather unorthodox moves to get open, and good straight line speed. His hands are natural, which will help shorten his learning curve. |
