Ravens | Baltimore trims roster    Fri Aug 30, 05:01 PM

Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Callahan, WRs Jaylen Smith, Joe Horn Jr. and Michael Floyd, TE Matthew Orzech, LB Silas Stewart, OGs Patrick Vahe and Isaiah Williams and OT Darrell Williams were waived/released Friday, Aug. 30.

Footballguys view: Floyd was seen as possibly on the final roster, but he couldn't beat out the youngsters on the outside. Jaleel Scott could make the team over him now.

Ravens | Michael Floyd gets one-year deal    Sat May 18, 02:25 AM

Updating a previous report, the Baltimore Ravens signed WR Michael Floyd (Redskins) to a one-year contract on Friday, May 17. Financial terms were not immediately disclosed.

Footballguys view: This is Floyd's fifth team in the last four years. We'll see if he can stay healthy and work his way up the depth chart. The Ravens have continued to revamp their WR corps as they look for quality weapons to put around QB Lamar Jackson.

Ravens | Michael Floyd joining Ravens    Fri May 17, 10:03 AM

Free-agent WR Michael Floyd (Redskins) agreed to an undisclosed deal with the Baltimore Ravens Friday, May 17. The deal is pending a physical.

Footballguys view: It's amazing that Floyd keeps getting shots in the NFL. This is his fifth team in four years and Floyd just has 20 catches over the last two seasons. The Ravens don't have a stable wide receiving corps but they do have some young talent that could take over. Floyd might stick as veteran depth in the room, but he's not a lock for the 53-man roster.

Redskins | Washington works out three players    Mon Sep 17, 05:47 PM

Free-agent QB Paxton Lynch (Broncos), WR Michael Floyd (Saints) and WR Kendall Wright (Vikings) worked out for the Washington Redskins Monday, Sept. 17.

Footballguys view: Washington has only two quarterbacks on the active roster (Alex Smith, Colt McCoy) and they don't have a third quarterback on the practice squad. Since getting released by the Broncos, 2016 first-round pick Paxton Lynch has gotten a few teams interested. Indications are that he hasn't impressed during the interview process. We'll see if someone wants to take a chance on the physical attributes (size, arm strength) that Lynch clearly has.

Saints | Michael Floyd signed by Saints    Tue Jul 31, 07:20 PM

Free-agent WR Michael Floyd (Vikings) was signed to an undisclosed deal by the New Orleans Saints Tuesday, July 31, according to a source.

Footballguys view: It's been quite some time since Floyd has been fantasy relevant. Injuries and off-field issues have plagued him recently but landing with the Saints is interesting...even though he's no lock for the 53-man roster.

Vikings | Michael Floyd likely done in Minnesota    Sun Mar 25, 10:18 PM

Free-agent WR Michael Floyd (Vikings) is drawing no interest from the Minnesota Vikings and is unlikely to be re-signed, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Floyd may not get much interest around the league. Suspended for the first four games of the 2017 season, Floyd managed only 10 catches for 78 yards. On the field he's not what he used to be and off the field Floyd has had enough problems for teams to easily say 'no thanks.'

Minnesota Vikings WR Michael Floyd, who was the first four games of the season due to suspension, was added to the roster Monday, Oct. 9, and is expected to play Monday, Oct. 9, versus the Chicago Bears.

Footballguys view: RB Stevan Ridley was released to make room for Floyd on the roster. There might not be much of a role for Floyd this week or moving forward as he's buried on the Vikings depth chart. Their passing game is all about WR Stefon Diggs, WR Adam Thielen and TE Kyle Rudolph. Floyd will compete with Laquon Treadwell for the no3 WR spot on the depth chart.

Vikings | Michael Floyd on suspended list    Sat Sep 2, 04:52 PM

Minnesota Vikings WR Michael Floyd was placed on the Reserve/Suspended list Saturday, Sept. 2.

Footballguys view: Floyd went back home to Minnesota after a 2016 season that saw him bounce from the Cardinals to the Patriots after he was arrested for an 'extreme' DUI. When he's off the suspended list, we're not expecting Floyd to do too much for the Vikings.

Vikings | Michael Floyd standing out    Sat Aug 5, 11:40 AM

Minnesota Vikings WR Michael Floyd has reportedly received 'plenty of work' in the team's top three-receiver package with Laquon Treadwell missing time this week and taken advantage, making several impressive sideline catches after separating from defensive backs in 1-on-1 drills on Friday, Aug. 4.

Footballguys view: It seems like rookie and second year receivers are always on the outside looking in over in Minnesota. Laquon Treadwell had very little production last year, while Floyd had some nice moments. There has been plenty of back and forth this offseason about which receiver will get the nod, and this is a camp battle to watch. Keep in mind Floyd is suspended for the first four games of the season, so Treadwell will get his inseason chance to shine regardless of preseason.

Vikings | Jarius Wright's roster spot in danger?    Fri Jul 21, 02:34 AM

Minnesota Vikings WR Jarius Wright is no lock to make the team, according to ESPN's Ben Goessling, following the offseason signing of WR Michael Floyd and the selection of rookie WRs Rodney Adams and Stacy Coley in the draft. Wright signed a four-year extension before the 2015 campaign and carries a cap number of $3.138 million for the upcoming season.

Footballguys view: We've liked Wright but he's never really been more than an occasionally productive player in both the NFL and fantasy. As it stands, he's a nice but easily replaceable piece of the offense and even if he makes the team, remains a fantasy non-factor.

Cardinals | John Brown ready for big season?    Sun Jul 16, 12:31 AM

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown will be the main beneficiary of the departure of Minnesota Vikings WR Michael Floyd, according to Jordan Schultz of Yahoo! Sports. Floyd accounted for 88 targets for the Cardinals last season.

Footballguys view: Brown is going to be the Cardinals no2 WR opposite Larry Fitzgerald in 2017 and there should be more buzz about him. He had a lingering concussion and complications from sickle cell anemia that limited him during his 15 starts in 2016. He's at full strength now, and Brown should build on his 2015 season of 65 catches, 1,003 yards, and 7 touchdowns. He's WR42 (9.02) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Vikings | Michael Floyd receives suspension    Fri Jul 14, 04:18 PM

Minnesota Vikings WR Michael Floyd has been suspended for the first four games of the 2017 season, according to a source.

Footballguys view: With this suspension, there's no guarantee the Vikings will keep Floyd around. He was terrible last year splitting time in Arizona and New England. An extreme DUI last year got him bounced from the desert but the Patriots took a chance on the veteran receiver and he did nothing.

Vikings | Michael Floyd has work to do    Fri Jun 16, 11:27 PM

Minnesota Vikings WR Michael Floyd said Thursday, June 15, that he still has plenty of work to do in order to be comfortable with the offense before training camp begins in July.

Footballguys view: Floyd needed a fresh start after his 'extreme DUI' last year which led to his release with the Cardinals. He didn't do much in his time with the Patriots after that and now comes home to Minnesota. Floyd has veteran experience, but he's fourth (at best) on the Vikings depth chart.

Vikings | Michael Floyd contract info    Fri May 26, 02:37 AM

Minnesota Vikings WR Michael Floyd's one-year deal that contains no guaranteed money, according to ESPN's Ben Goessling. That means the team has no financial commitment to Floyd should he fail to make the final cut.

Footballguys view: The Vikings had to structure his deal this way. Floyd got bounced from the Cardinals after his "extreme DUI" last year and did nothing with the Patriots when they picked him up late in the season. Going back home to Minnesota should help him, but the team wasn't going to throw around money carelessly for a player with Floyd's backstory.

Vikings | Michael Floyd will adjust quickly    Sun May 21, 10:34 PM

Minnesota Vikings WR Michael Floyd won't have any issues picking up the offensive system, according to head coach Mike Zimmer.

Footballguys view: Fantasy owners shouldn't get too excited here. Floyd did nothing with the Patriots after they picked him off the scrap heap in 2016. A fresh start is what he needed, and perhaps going back home to Minnesota will pay off for him. Floyd is trying to earn a role behind Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen.

Vikings | Michael Floyd to practice soon    Thu May 18, 09:49 PM

Minnesota Vikings WR Michael Floyd will begin practicing next week after having the remainder of his 96-day house arrest transferred from Arizona to Minnesota, according to a league source.

Footballguys view: Floyd is back home in Minnesota, and it might be the answer after hitting rock bottom last year with this "extreme DUI" that caused him to be under house arrest. If healthy and motivated, Floyd can push for a role behind Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen.

Vikings | Minnesota adding Michael Floyd    Wed May 10, 03:17 PM

Free-agent WR Michael Floyd (Patriots) agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings Wednesday, May 10, according to sources. The deal is worth $1.5 million, but Floyd could make as much as $6 million based on incentives.

Footballguys view: The Vikings were the only team interested in Floyd this offseason after his brief stint with the Patriots last year. Floyd will not be able to report to the team until June as he's still under house arrest for his DUI. He's from St. Paul Minnesota, so perhaps going home will be the fresh start he needs after a tumultuous 2016. Floyd is not a lock for the 53-man roster.

Patriots | Michael Floyd will not return to Pats    Sun May 7, 06:39 PM

Free-agent WR Michael Floyd (Patriots) will not be re-signing with the New England Patriots this offseason, according to ESPNBoston.com's Mike Reiss.

Footballguys view: The Patriots made the move to add Brandin Cooks via free agency, so they don't have any room to take another flier on Floyd like they did last year. Floyd didn't do much of anything for the Patriots last year and was mostly inactive as they made their run to a championship. Only Washington and the Vikings have shown interest in Floyd this offseason.

Vikings | Vikings interested in Michael Floyd    Thu May 4, 07:36 PM

The Minnesota Vikings are 'highly, highly interested' in free-agent WR Michael Floyd (Patriots).

Footballguys view: Floyd has gotten zero interest on the open market after his short-lived stint with the Patriots last year. He was with the Pats for their Super Bowl run last year, but Floyd did nothing to write home about. Floyd hit the open market in March, and teams just weren't that interested. The Vikings don't have great depth at the receiver position, and that may be why they're 'highly, highly interested' in the big-bodied veteran.

Patriots | Michael Floyd unlikely to return to NE    Fri Mar 24, 12:22 PM

Free-agent WR Michael Floyd (Patriots) is a 'long shot' to return to the New England Patriots after they acquired Brandin Cooks earlier this month, according to ESPN's Mike Reiss.

Footballguys view: The Pats have found their top WR via trade with New Orleans. Floyd has no interest on the open market at this time. Perhaps as we get closer to training camp a team like the Lions would come calling.

Patriots | NE would like to bring back Michael Floyd    Mon Feb 6, 03:47 AM

The New England Patriots would like to bring back WR Michael Floyd for the 2017 season, according to sources.

Footballguys view: Floyd would draw huge money on the free agent market if he was more productive and stayed off of the police blotter. The Patriots can get a big discount because Floyd is at the bottom of his career and they showed interest when the rest of the league didn't. If they can turn around his career, he'll be a huge value.

Patriots | Michael Floyd expected to be inactive    Sun Feb 5, 03:11 PM

New England Patriots WR Michael Floyd is expected to be a healthy scratch for Super Bowl LI.

Footballguys view: The acquisition of Floyd for the last three games of the regular season was more to get a chance to evaluate him and pocket a discount on a new deal for a first-round quality physical talent than his ability to contribute this year. Floyd has recently expressed that he wants to stay in Foxboro.
