Bears | Nick Foles gets in limited practice    Wed Dec 2, 05:15 PM

Chicago Bears QB Nick Foles (hip) was a limited participant at practice Wednesday, Dec. 2.

Footballguys view: It's the first time Foles has been able to practice in some time. If healthy, he'll return as the backup to Mitchell Trubisky...again...and for now. If (when?) Trubisky struggles, they could go back to Foles.

Bears | Nick Foles likely to sit out    Fri Nov 27, 05:08 PM

Chicago Bears QB Nick Foles (hip) did not participate in practice Friday, Nov. 27, and is listed as doubtful for Week 12.

Footballguys view: Mitchell Trubisky has already been announced as the starter. Foles is likely to miss the game and that means Tyler Bray would be the primary backup in Week 12.

  Bears | Chicago's Week 12 injury report    Fri Nov 27, 02:53 PM

Chicago Bears QB Nick Foles (hip) did not practice all week and is listed as doubtful for Week 12 against the Green Bay Packers. DT Akiem Hicks (hamstring) also did not practice all week but is listed as questionable. OT Charles Leno Jr. (toe) did not practice for a second straight day Friday, Nov. 27, and is also listed as questionable. CB Buster Skrine (ankle) was added to the injury report and limited in practice Friday; he is listed as questionable. S Sherrick McManis (hand) and OL Rashaad Coward (ankle) practiced in full Friday and are also listed as questionable. TE Jimmy Graham (rest), LB Danny Trevathan (personal), NT John Jenkins (ankle), WR Cordarrelle Patterson (calf), LB Barkevious Mingo (shoulder), RB David Montgomery (concussion), OL Sam Mustipher (knee) and QB Mitchell Trubisky (shoulder) practiced in full Friday and have been removed from the injury report.

Footballguys view: Mitchell Trubisky has some running ability to help the offense, but overall the move to him from Foles is not good for Allen Robinson (who should still remain in lineups) or Jimmy Graham.

Bears | Mitchell Trubisky likely to get Week 12 nod    Thu Nov 26, 06:30 PM

Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky (shoulder) practiced in full for a second straight day Thursday, Nov. 26, and is expected to draw the start over Nick Foles in Week 12 against the Green Bay Packers, according to Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune.

Footballguys view: Zero surprise here. Trubisky has been practicing this week while Foles has yet to practice. Bears coach Matt Nagy is being coy but the writing is on the wall -- we're going to see Trubisky back as the starter.

Bears | Nick Foles misses practice    Thu Nov 26, 05:59 PM

Chicago Bears QB Nick Foles (hip) did not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 26.

Footballguys view: Foles has not practiced this week. That makes it look like the Bears are going to go with Mitchell Trubisky as the starter in Week 12. No starter has officially been named, but all signs are pointing to Foles missing time.

Bears | Nick Foles considered day-to-day    Thu Nov 26, 01:27 AM

Chicago Bears QB Nick Foles (hip) is 'day to day' with his hip injury, according to head coach Matt Nagy.

Bears | Nick Foles sits out practice    Wed Nov 25, 05:40 PM

Chicago Bears QB Nick Foles (hip) didn't participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 25.

Bears | Nick Foles day to day    Tue Nov 17, 12:04 PM

Chicago Bears QB Nick Foles' (hip) hip and gluteus injury isn't as bad as expected, and he could return after the bye week.

Footballguys view: That's good news for Foles here. The Bears have a Week 11 bye which gives Foles more time to get right. We'll see what his status is next week in practice. Tyler Bray took over at the quarterback position late in the game for the Bears on Monday, but he's not an exciting starting option.

Updating a previous report, Chicago Bears QB Nick Foles (leg, hip) was being evaluated for leg and hip injuries following the Week 10 game against the Minnesota Vikings, head coach Matt Nagy said Monday, Nov. 16. 'I know he's upset,' Nagy said. 'It's been frustrating, it's been hard and that's the part that's difficult through all of this because no one wants it more than him to be out there to fight his teammates.'

Chicago Bears QB Nick Foles (lower body) suffered some sort of lower-body injury after being slammed to the turf late in the fourth quarter of the Week 10 game against the Minnesota Vikings and he was carted off.   Bears | Nick Foles produces well in Week 9    Sun Nov 8, 05:32 PM

Chicago Bears QB Nick Foles went 36-for-52 for 335 yards and two touchdowns against the Tennessee Titans in Week 9.

Footballguys view: Foles had a good fantasy day, but only after the game was out of hand. If Mitchell Trubisky was healthy, we might have seen him enter the game after a first down seemed almost insurmountable as a goal for the offense at times in the first half. Foles gets an easy matchup on paper against the Vikings, but he hasn't inspired confidence. We are relying on garbage time as his driver of fantasy value now.

Chicago Bears QB Nick Foles completed 30 of 42 passes for 243 yards, one touchdown and one interception against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday, Oct. 8.

Footballguys view: Foles pick was on Allen Robinson and a good play by Carlton Davis, and he was helped on his touchdown by a terrific one-handed catch from Jimmy Graham. He made an excellent throw on a wheel route to David Montgomery to set up the game winning field goal. He'll be a low ceiling play against the Panthers next week.

Chicago Bears QB Nick Foles was named the starting quarterback ahead of Mitch Trubisky for Week 4 against the Indianapolis Colts on Monday, Sept. 28.

Footballguys view: That didn't take long. The Bears pulled the plug on Trubisky in Week 3 during the game and are now moving forward with Foles as their starter. The team is undefeated and wants to make a run if at all possible. They feel Foles gives them the best chance to do just that.

Chicago Bears QB Nick Foles completed 16-of-29 passes for 188 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in Week 3 against the Atlanta Falcons, coming off the bench for the ineffective QB Mitchell Trubisky.

Footballguys view: Foles led a comeback that only the Falcons could have given us. He'll be the starter against the Colts next week after this performance, but is only rosterable in 2QB/Superflex leagues.

Bears | Matt Nagy to name starting QB next week    Mon Aug 31, 10:36 PM

Chicago Bears QBs Nick Foles and Mitchell Trubisky continue to battle for the starting quarterback job, and head coach Matt Nagy said Monday, Aug. 31 that he will announce his starter sometime next week, likely Monday, Sept. 6 or Wednesday, Sept. 8.

Footballguys view: We'll see if Trubisky can win the starting job. Foles is a seasoned veteran who should be performing better than Trubisky in a game setting. If Trubisky wins the starting job out of camp, do not be surprised if Foles ends up starting if/when Trubisky struggles.

Bears | Chicago will not name QB before opener    Sat Aug 29, 04:08 PM

Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky and Nick Foles have been competing for the starting quarterback job during training camp, and head coach Matt Nagy said he will not name the starting quarterback before the start of the regular season.

Footballguys view: Fantasy GMs aren't dialed in on this situation for good reason. Instead, we are all focused on WR Allen Robinson. He's such a good receiver that he can perform no matter who is tossing him the rock. Robinson has a current ADP of WR10 (3.08) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Bears | Chicago QB situation still murky    Sun Aug 23, 09:10 PM

Chicago Bears QBs Mitchell Trubisky and Nick Foles appear to be no closer to answering the question regarding the identity of the team's starting quarterback in Week 1 against the Detroit Lions.'It's not going to happen soon,' Matt Nagy said.

Footballguys view: Trubisky has looked better according to camp reports and his teammates like what he's showing on the practice field. However, Foles has been there and done that so his experience could just make him the better option in the long run. Do not be surprised if the Bears begin the season with one guy and then make a change somewhere along the way. It's a make-or-break year for Trubisky that is for sure.

Bears | Preseason to determine QB1 in Chicago    Tue May 26, 03:11 PM

Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy said Tuesday, May 26, QBs Mitchell Trubisky and Nick Foles will both see time working with the starters in preseason games.

Footballguys view: Trubisky was supposed to be the franchise quarterback for the Bears but he has disappointed as a pro. Foles has experience and a championship history. He's worked under Nagy before when he was with the Chiefs, so Foles may not take that long to get up to speed. In fact, Foles may just end up winning the starting job. We'll see how this shakes out in training camp.

Bears | Nick Foles quickly picking up Chicago system    Sat May 16, 10:53 AM

Chicago Bears QB Nick Foles, who will compete for the starting quarterback job with the Bears, is quickly getting caught up on the team's offensive system. The system isn't new to Foles, as it is the same one he learned under Bears head coach Matt Nagy when the two were with the Kansas City Chiefs. 'It's like riding a bike,' Nagy said. 'Once you present somebody like Nick the playbook and they start looking at it, all of a sudden it just clicks.'

Footballguys view: Foles worked with Nagy before so picking up this system should be a breeze. We'll see if he can beat out 2017 first-round pick Mitchell Trubisky in training camp for the starting job.

Chicago Bears QBs Mitchell Trubisky and Nick Foles will participate in an open competition for the 2020 starting quarterback job, according to general manager Ryan Pace.

Footballguys view: Trubisky has failed to play up to expectations, so the Bears made a move to add competition. We'll see if Foles can win the job in training camp. Either way, Trubisky is on his last leg with the Bears.

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles was acquired by the Chicago Bears Wednesday, March 18, in exchange for a compensatory fourth-round pick.

Footballguys view: The Bears are looking for competition to push Mitchell Trubisky for the starting job. Foles has plenty of experience working under both Bears head coach Matt Nagy and Bears quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo. We'll see if Foles can actually win the starting job in training camp.

Bears | Chicago narrowing search for veteran QB    Mon Mar 16, 03:39 PM

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton and Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles are reportedly targets for the Chicago Bears, who appear to be focused on acquiring a veteran quarterback to compete with Mitchell Trubisky for the starting job.

Footballguys view: Apparently the Bears have moved on from pursuing Teddy Bridgewater. It wasn't that long ago when the Bears moved up in the draft for Trubisky and now they want to find a way to move on at the quarterback position. As we always say, things move pretty quickly around here.

Jaguars | Nick Foles not being shopped    Wed Mar 4, 05:47 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles is not being shopped to other teams, but he is receiving trade interest from teams.

Footballguys view: This contradicts other speculative reports about the team trying to shop the veteran quarterback. We'll see Foles and Gardner Minshew compete for the starting job in 2020...unless Foles is actually traded away.

Jaguars | Nick Foles garnering interest?    Tue Mar 3, 05:23 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles has drawn trade interest, according to a source with knowledge of the situation, but there have been no substantive trade talks as of yet.

Jaguars | Jacksonville in no rush to name QB    Tue Feb 25, 08:17 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars QBs Nick Foles and Gardner Minshew have not been given a timeline in terms of knowing when one or the other will be named the starting quarterback.'When do you make that decision? There's not really a date. It's not really going to happen until we start playing, in the preseason, because for me, at that position, one of the things that's important is that the players can see who the best player is. You have an obligation to everyone in that locker room that you're putting the best player out there,' Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone said.

Footballguys view: The team is going to have Foles and Minshew compete for the starting job in training camp. We'll have to watch this battle unfold as it happens in the summer. Fantasy GMs will be looking elsewhere for QB1 production in 2020.

Jaguars | Nick Foles' contract offers an out in 2021    Mon Jan 13, 08:45 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles' contract offers a potential out with the Jaguars eating $12.5 million in 2021 dead salary cap space and $6.25 million in 2022.

Footballguys view: The Jaguars have refused to make an announcement on a starting quarterback for 2020. We'll see Foles duke it out with Gardner Minshew in training camp. The total savings would be $33.625 million over the two years. However, Foles is essentially guaranteed a roster spot in 2020 with a penalty of $33.875 million in dead money should the Jaguars move on from him.

Jaguars | Gardner Minshew not named starter for 2020    Sat Jan 4, 01:04 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Gardner Minshew will not enter into the offseason program as the team's starting quarterback, according to head coach Doug Marrone, nor will the head coach name QB Nick Foles as the backup. The team appears headed for an open competition this offseason, in the opinion of The Florida Times-Union's John Reid.

Footballguys view: The old saying goes when you have two quarterbacks you really have none. The Jaguars will hold an open competition for the starting job (most likely) but they also need to be conscious about which player the locker room is warming up to. The team just seemed to respond better (at times) with Minshew as the starter.

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Gardner Minshew was named the starting quarterback by head coach Doug Marrone for Week 14 versus the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday, Dec. 2, taking over for Nick Foles.

Footballguys view: Foles couldn't get it done against the Buccaneers, so Marrone is going with the rookie. Perhaps that has ruffled some feathers with Tom Coughlin, so Marrone may be coaching his last few games with the Jaguars over the course of the next month.

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Gardner Minshew went 16-for-27 for 147 yards, one touchdown and one interception against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 13 after replacing QB Nick Foles.

Jaguars | Nick Foles benched    Sun Dec 1, 03:06 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles was benched during the Week 13 game and has been replaced by QB Gardner Minshew.

Footballguys view: Foles was terrible early, giving up the ball three times to Tampa Bay. He hasn't looked good since he returned. The Jaguars committed a lot of guaranteed money to him but he's their second best quarterback. We'll see who starts against the Chargers next week, but you should hope for Minshew if you rely on any Jaguars in your lineup.

Jaguars | Nick Foles activated from IR    Wed Nov 6, 12:46 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles (collarbone) was officially activated from the Reserve/Injured list on Tuesday, Nov. 5.

Footballguys view: Here we go! The Foles era is going to start...again. He was injured in Week 1 against the Chiefs and has been recovering ever since. Gardner Minshew filled in admirably but he now goes back to the bench. Foles was announced as the Week 11 starter on Tuesday.

Jaguars | Nick Foles to start    Tue Nov 5, 01:49 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles (collarbone) will return as the starter after the Week 10 bye.

Footballguys view: Foles is healthy and ready to go against a huge divisional game in Week 11 against the Colts. He's got a big contract and it was only a matter of time, regardless of the hype around Gardner Minshew. The Jaguars are in win-now mode as they try to make a playoff push.

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles (collarbone) is expected to return for the team's Week 11 game, and head coach Doug Marrone said he will take the bye week to decide whether Foles or QB Gardner Minshew will be the starting quarterback for that game.
