Browns | Jordan Elliott under contract    Thu Jul 2, 02:51 PM

Cleveland Browns third-round draft choice DT Jordan Elliott signed a four-year contract with the Browns Thursday, July 2. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Elliott will be behind some top talents (Sheldon Richardson, Larry Ogunjobi) at defensive tackle for the Browns and probably not log too many snaps this year, but if the team doesn't want to pay Ogunjobi when he becomes a free agent next year, Elliott could be a key contributor.

Detroit Lions DTs Danny Shelton, Nick Williams, Da'Shawn Hand, John Atkins, Kevin Strong and Olive Sagapolu are joined by rookies John Penisini and Jashon Cornell at the interior of the Lions' defensive line in 2020. Defensive coordinator Cory Undlin likes the overall talent of the group. 'We have a really nice depth chart there at that position and we'll just kind of mix and match,' Undlin said. 'We'll watch (Shelton and Williams) work and find out where they're most comfortable, what the best combination is and then we'll settle on that once we get closer to the start of the season.'

In 2019, he started 14 games for the Buckeyes and posted career-best numbers with 10.5 tackles for loss and 6.0 sacks. At 320 pounds, Hamilton has first-step quickness and uses rip moves to apply interior pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Miami Dolphins DTs Ray Lima and Benito Jones are expected to compete with DT Zach Sieler for the No. 4 defensive tackle job during training camp.

Footballguys view: Lima got $27,000 and Jones $25,000 so the Dolphins see some potential there, but the team could also keep only three defensive tackles, so their best long-term opportunity might come after a stay on the practice squad. Lima was a three-year starter at Iowa State and Jones was a former five-star prospect and Freshman All-SEC first team and Freshman All-American third-team at Ole Miss.

Arizona Cardinals fourth-round pick DT Leki Fotu could sneak into the offense as an H-back in short-yardage situations as he has experience in the role playing rugby.

Footballguys view: Leave it to Kliff Kingsbury to feature some gadget touchdowns here and there on offense. Fotu is massive and powerful, so we could see him plunging into the end zone with the rock.
