Seattle Seahawks vice president of football operations Scott Fitterer is expected to be hired as the new general manager of the Carolina Panthers, according to multiple sources.
Footballguys view: The Panthers interviewed 15 candidates to replace Marty Hurney, who was fired with two games remaining in a 5-11 2020 season. Fitterer was a late addition to the candidates list but obviously impressed in his interviews. The Panthers need a lot of help on both sides of the ball. However, the biggest decision Fitterer will have to make this offseason had to do with the future of QB Teddy Bridgewater. |

Updating previous reports, free-agent QB Dwayne Haskins (Washington) is scheduled to visit the Carolina Panthers Monday, Jan. 11, according to multiple sources.
Footballguys view: The Panthers seem like a good fit for Haskins. They have Teddy Bridgewater as their clear-cut starter but Haskins could compete as a reserve and get his career back on track. Haskins is taking his time to find a new home and has a few teams interested in making him a reclamation project. |

Carolina Panthers LBs Daniel Bituli and Chris Orr, OGs Mike Horton and Aaron Monteiro, WRs Ventell Bryant, Amara Darboh, Ishmael Hyman and Marken Michel, C Sam Tecklenburg, DB Sean Chandler, LB Clay Johnston, DT Mike Panasiuk, TE Giovanni Ricci and PK Lirim Hajrullahu were signed to futures deals Monday, Jan. 4.
Footballguys view: Ventell Bryant had some late-round buzz when he entered the NFL draft in 2019, but he fell undrafted and has bounced around the league a bit. He played at Temple under Panthers head coach Matt Rhule, so it makes sense he would get a spot to prove himself with the Panthers. |

Carolina Panthers QB Teddy Bridgewater completed 13-of-23 passes for 176 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions, while replacement QB P.J. Walker ended with three interceptions. RB Rodney Smith led the team with 40 rushing yards and a score, while WR Curtis Samuel finished with seven grabs for a career-best 118 yards. WR D.J. Moore also hit the century mark with 101 receiving yards on 11 targets, while WR Robby Anderson ended up with three catches and 40 yards. SS Tre Boston led the defense with 10 total stops, a sack, a tackle for loss and a quarterback hit.
Footballguys view: Bridgewater hurt his foot in the game, but it's still clear that he's not the long term answer for the Panthers at quarterback. The Panthers pick 7th or 8th and should be in the market for a quarterback. Samuel had a big second half and should have teams lining up to sign him in free agency. |

Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (thigh) did not participate in practice Friday, Jan. 1, and is listed as doubtful for Week 17.
Footballguys view: McCaffrey's injuries were bitterly disappointing to endure for anyone who had him in fantasy leagues this year, but he's still likely to go #1 in 2021 drafts. |

Carolina Panthers RB Mike Davis (ankle) is not expected to play in the Week 17 game because of a sprained ankle.

Free-agent QB Dwayne Haskins (Football Team) is drawing interest from the Carolina Panthers.
Footballguys view: It's funny that the Panthers are the only team we've heard by name. There are reportedly other teams but nobody is yet named other than the Panthers. They'll be looking for an upgrade over Teddy Bridgewater this offseason. Haskins is not that, but instead he's a reclamation project for any team that adds him. |

Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (thigh) is 'probably a no' in terms of his availability in Week 17 against the New Orleans Saints, according to head coach Matt Rhule.
Footballguys view: It's a sad way for McCaffrey's season to end, especially since he tried to come back and just couldn't stay healthy. McCaffrey was likely the no.1 pick in most every draft out there but he finishes 2020 having played just three games. He had 225 yards rushing and five rushing touchdowns in addition to 149 yards receiving and one touchdown. |
