Seahawks | Greg Olsen's preparation paying off    Sun Aug 23, 01:22 AM

Seattle Seahawks TE Greg Olsen's work with QB Russell Wilson this offseason is evident in practice, according to head coach Pete Carroll. 'I'm really, really fired up about Greg,' Carroll said.

Footballguys view: Olsen will have to share tight end targets with Will Dissly and maybe Jacob Hollister in a lower volume pass offense, but he's still the cheapest tight end who could be a viable start Week 1.

Seahawks | Greg Olsen to contribute immediately    Sun Mar 8, 10:49 PM

Seattle Seahawks TE Greg Olsen 'will make a very fast transition' into the offense, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

Footballguys view: We could see Olsen becoming a favorite target of QB Russell Wilson. He's not the same player he used to be, but Olsen is not washed up. In fact, with this offense and this role we could put Olsen in the low-end TE1 conversation.

Seahawks | Greg Olsen signing with Seattle    Tue Feb 18, 06:27 PM

Free-agent TE Greg Olsen (Panthers) is signing a one-year, $7 million contract with the Seattle Seahawks, according to a source. The deal includes $5.5 million in guaranteed money.

Footballguys view: After battling foot injuries for two seasons, Olsen was able to play in 14 games last season. He ended 2019 with 52 catches for 597 yards and two touchdowns -- and that was from mostly backup quarterbacks with the Panthers. Now with Seattle, Olsen has a chance for a regular role as an important part of the offense. Catching passes from Russell Wilson makes him a low-end TE1 for Fantasy GMs.

NFL | Greg Olsen still talking with three teams    Fri Feb 14, 03:19 PM

Free-agent TE Greg Olsen (Panthers) is having contract negotiations with the Buffalo Bills, Washington Redskins and Seattle Seahawks, according to a source.

Footballguys view: No hurries, no worries here. Olsen met with all three teams over the last two weeks. He should finalize something in the near future.

Seahawks | Greg Olsen to visit SEA Wednesday    Mon Feb 10, 10:45 AM

Updating a previous report, free-agent TE Greg Olsen (Panthers) will visit the Seattle Seahawks Wednesday, Feb. 12.

Redskins | Greg Olsen to visit Washington    Mon Feb 10, 09:41 AM

Free-agent TE Greg Olsen (Panthers) is visiting the Washington Redskins through Monday, Feb. 10.

Footballguys view: Washington could move on from the oft-injured Jordan Reed this offseason. That would give them a need for veteran depth. Olsen worked with new Washington coach Ron Rivera during their time with the Panthers. The move makes a lot of sense if they can come together on a price tag.

Bears | Chicago not interested in Greg Olsen    Wed Feb 5, 02:13 PM

Bills | Buffalo, Greg Olsen to meet Wednesday    Tue Feb 4, 06:02 PM

Updating a previous report, free-agent TE Greg Olsen (Panthers) said he is scheduled to meet with the Buffalo Bills Wednesday, Feb. 5.

Footballguys view: Bills head coach Sean McDermott is familiar with Olsen from his time as a coordinator with the Panthers years ago. Olsen would be a great veteran presence and mentor for an up-and-coming tight end like Dawson Knox. We should see Olsen get quite a bit of interest on the open market.

Panthers | Greg Olsen says split wasn't mutual    Tue Feb 4, 04:41 PM

Free-agent TE Greg Olsen (Panthers) shone some light on his split from the Carolina Panthers Tuesday, Feb. 4, and said the parting of ways wasn't really mutual. 'I told them all along that if they wanted me back ... obviously I would have been back,' Olsen said. 'The 'mutual parting' might have been a little overblown. The reality was ... they weren't going to bring me back ... I understood it but I didn't force my way out of here.'

Footballguys view: The Panthers are ready to move in a different direction in 2020...at multiple positions. With a new staff in place, guys like Olsen and perhaps even QB Cam Newton are not part of the plan going forward. The team could put Newton on the trade block later this offseason.

Free-agent TE Greg Olsen (Panthers) will visit the Seattle Seahawks in the near future.

Panthers | Carolina officially cuts Greg Olsen    Mon Feb 3, 04:50 PM

Carolina Panthers TE Greg Olsen was officially released Monday, Feb. 3.

Footballguys view: Olsen could be reuniting with Ron Rivera in Washington, where he would be presumably relevant for fantasy leagues. Another possibility is retirement and a move to the booth, where Olsen should be an instant hit.

Redskins | Greg Olsen may consider Redskins    Fri Jan 31, 03:41 PM

Carolina Panthers impending free-agent TE Greg Olsen likely will consider signing with the Washington Redskins this offseason if he decides to continue his playing career, according to a source.

Footballguys view: This would be a reunion with Ron Rivera and he would fill a big area of need for the team. He played well enough last year to have some fantasy relevance if he is on the field in 2020. If he retires, Olsen should be a welcome addition to a broadcast booth this season.

NFL | Greg Olsen 'interested' in continuing to play    Thu Jan 30, 05:58 PM

Updating a previous story, Carolina Panthers TE Greg Olsen 'is said to be interested' in playing in 2020 for the right opportunity once he officially parts ways with the Panthers, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network Thursday, Jan. 30.

Panthers | Greg Olsen parting ways    Thu Jan 30, 05:50 PM

Carolina Panthers TE Greg Olsen mutually agreed to part ways with the team Thursday, Jan. 30. 'Today, I had the opportunity to sit down with (general manager) Marty Hurney and have a great conversation regarding my future with the organization,' Olsen said. 'The team and I are both on the same page that it is best we go in different directions for now,'

Footballguys view: This is one of many steps for the Panthers this offseason which is going to feature quite a few changes. They have a new staff in place and are soon likely to deal QB Cam Newton and start fresh with a new quarterback. Olsen could continue playing for another team looking for a veteran tight end.

Panthers | Week 17 final stats for Panthers    Sun Dec 29, 04:32 PM

Carolina Panthers QB Kyle Allen completed 25-of-41 passes for 295 yards, no touchdowns and one interception, while RB Christian McCaffrey rushed nine times for 26 yards and a touchdown while adding seven grabs for 72 yards on 10 targets. He became the third player in NFL history to post 1,000 rushing and 1,000 receiving yards in a single season. WR Brandon Zylstra stepped up with a team-high 96 receiving yards on six grabs across eight targets. WR Curtis Samuel finished up with two grabs for 13 yards, and TE Greg Olsen was limited to two catches for 12 yards.

Footballguys view: Allen decisively showed he is not the quarterback of the future for this team, but they needed him with rookie Will Grier hurt today. McCaffrey's milestone joins Roger Craig and Marshall Faulk and he'll be a unanimous #1 pick next year. Olsen has a retirement decision this offseason with Ryan Tannehill waiting in the wings.

Panthers | Greg Olsen limited    Wed Dec 25, 05:41 PM

Carolina Panthers TE Greg Olsen (knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 25.

Footballguys view: Olsen only caught a couple of passes from rookie QB Will Grier last week. We can't project him for much more production in Week 17, especially with the Panthers trying to get RB Christian McCaffrey the 67 receiving yards he needs to be only the third player in NFL history with a 1,000/1,000 season.

Carolina Panthers TE Greg Olsen registered a pair of receptions for 33 yards on five targets in Week 16 against the Indianapolis Colts.
